9 days 2 resorts FREE Dining Christmas Lights & a bouncing Tigger who stole my heart

Thursday November 12th continued ~

So after our very delicious and filling breakfast we took a little walk around the Poly. Very beautiful resort as always. :cloud9: We will stay there someday, but not before checking out a few other Deluxe resorts first!

Of course the boys headed right for the gift shop. Did a little shopping and some pin trading.

I was in need of a new address book. So I sure couldn't pass this one up!

We walked outside and followed the signs to the TTC. It was still very chilly outside.

We made our way to the TTC and got on the monorail to Epcot. I had heard from other DISers that it was very fun to arrive at Epcot via the monorail. And they were right! It was very neat. You do a complete circle through future world before being let off. So cool! We could see just how crowded it was (or wasn't in our case) and we could even see the wait time for TT before even entering Epcot! Which was 20 minutes BTW!

Unfortunately I didn't take any pics. :confused3 Not sure why. Just taking in the sights guess! I'm not sure exactly what time it was when we got there. I am going to guess sometime between 11:45-12.

We headed straight for Soarin! Wait time said 30 minutes. The CM at the entrance gave DS10 one of those things to give to the CM at the end of the line to keep track of the time. We seem to get them all the time. Do they have a name for them?

We were waiting about 5 minutes when we noticed the older couple in front of us and the man had one of the "wait time cards" too. We thought that was strange. He noticed the kids bickering over who was going to wear the wait time card/necklace thingy and for how long and which one would get to hand it to the CM. He said they had seen us a breakfast and on the monorail and how we must be following them! He gave DS8 his wait time card! :rotfl: We then chatted with him and his wife the whole rest of the way through the line. Very nice couple. Said how they usually bring their grandchildren to WDW, but had snuck away without them this time! Also found out that they were going to LeCellier later that day too. I figured we would run into them several more times that day, but we didn't.

The actual wait time for Soarin was 20 minutes!!

I actually took some pictures during Soarin (with my flash off of course) and they didn't turn out too bad!

Continued. . . .

After a wonderful flight on Soarin we picked up some fastpasses for later and then went over to Living with the Land. No wait here as usual. This ride is very neat and informative, but man is it boring!! :faint:

Normally next we would go over to the Seas, but since we had already done that the night we arrived, we decided to skip it. So we walked over to HISTA. Had never seen it before. And I can still say the same thing! They had apparently just started a show when we got there. There was no one in sight. We wandered around for a few minutes and finally came upon a CM who told us it would be 30 minutes until the next show. From what I had heard it wasn't worth waiting for. We decided to head on and maybe come back later. But we never did.

Next we were headed for TT. Hoping that the wait time was still only 20 minutes. But first we had to stop at Club Cool. DS8 loves all those nasty pops! The kid won't hardly eat anything, but he will try any drink. :confused3 And usually likes it!

We made our way to TT and the wait time was still 20 minutes!! But we waited more like 10-15. :yay:

Up Next: Epcot Christmas decorations and World Showcase!

Santa was going to bring it for Christmas but was already done shopping by the time DS asked for it. I made sure my sister gave him a gift card to put towards it so he could reach his $50 goal and buy it right after Christmas. ;) I may have to start saving my dollars for the Mario Bros. game. That was my favorite Nintendo game back in the day!

I made little Wii tokens for DS as a behavior incentive. Each is worth 10 minutes of game time and that's how he gets to play. It's really helped with his behavior. I used to take the games away and his behavior would get better but then as soon as he was given them back, it would go downhill again. This way he earns time or can lose time and it's going well so far!

Tonga Toast looks yummy! I may have to get that cookbook Drakes was talking about and try out the recipe! Or just go to Poly in a little over 3 weeks and get it there! :woohoo:

That's a good idea - to make them earn Wii time, rather than take it away for being bad. . . . It's definitely going to be a good incentive for DS10 to keep his grades up!

Yep, you should try to sneak in a Kona breakfast! I'm so jealous you will be at WDW in 3 weeks!! :goodvibes

Kim - great idea on the Wii tokens. I may have to implement that with DD8 if her behavior doesn't improve. She's got the attitude of a 14 yr old lately!

Shelly- I like the name "wait time cards" - that's what I would call them. Maybe there is a more official "Time Monitor" name for them.

I haven't seen HISTA for a long time - it will stay that way. I would not lose any sleep over that one.

Wait time cards -- my generic name for them! :lmao: Time Monitor - sounds much more official! :thumbsup2

I couldn't believe that HISTA was so deserted. The wait time sign wasn't even on. No one around. Very weird. I wouldn't be surprised if it closes down before long. We really wanted to see it once, but just didn't want to miss out on anything else to do so!

Hey Shelly! I'll be catching up soon...I went back last night and figured out that I need to start commenting way back on page 19! :scared1: I was a little overwhelmed, but I'll get it done soon!!!!!! You're super speedy quick with the updates again. ;)

The recipe book is amazing and Tonga Toast is quite easy. You can also get Tonga Toast at the Counter Service at the Poly ( Captn Cooks)
As per the menu... not sure why it is 1/2 the price of Kona? :confused3
Tonga Toast - banana-stuffed sourdough bread, battered, deep-fried and dusted with cinnamon and sugar $5.09

This has been on my radar for some time- go to the Poly for breakfast CS and eat by the pool? can you do that ? :confused3

Unfortunately my DD is not obsessed with the Wii, so the tokens would not improve behaviour. However she can watch rerun after rerun of silly kid shows :happytv:- drives me nuts! So maybe she should earn TV rerun time - :rotfl:

If he takes out the trash or makes his bed, does he get a Wii FastPass? :rotfl:

Hi Shelly,

I actually read your tr on POR then looked in your signature today and saw this thread. I don't know how I could have missed it.

I am loving all the pictures and descriptions of what your family has done and experienced. The food report too is great. For our up coming trip we decided to do the QSDP, but did in enjoy the regular dining plan previously and thanks to your report, we have more to add when we hopefully go back in 2011 and stay longer and do the regular dining plan again. I am glad you enjoyed the Sci-Fi as I have read mixed reviews but now we will go. As well that restaurant at Boardwalk, I have never heard anything about that one, but that too looks very good. I love the expressions on your boys faces, as they really seemed to be enjoying every minute of your family trip.

Thank you for posting all your DTD photos. We never seem to make it out of the Marketplace but it seems like it is worth it to walk further. My DH would love the Harley store.

I look forward to reading the rest of your report.

If you don't mind a question Shelly, in some of your photos, at Dinosaur and at the Rock'n'Roller Coaster it looks like the photos were on special. Could you tell me what those specials were and were they for all the rides with photos? We are a sucker for those ride photos.

Thank you, Remmy:flower3:

Shelly - If you got a piece of paper from a CM it is a "Wait Time Slip", if it was the lanyard with the card, it is a "Flik Card".

Great report about EPCOT!

Great wait times at Soarin' & TT!! :thumbsup2

Were there low crowds all week or did you just hit Epcot right that day?

We got to ride the monorail to Epcot once and I agree, it's very cool to ride through the park before arriving at the station!

All caught up now! We just got back from a short vacation into Boston today! I love the pics of Kona breakfast! We have never been there, and currently don't have any plans for March, but when we go back in November, this will definitely be on our list!

Wow you are a little behind, looks like about 20 pages to catch up on!

Hmm. . . maybe I will have to go to Capt Cook's for some Tonga Toast! Is that the place you can get Dole Whips too?

Hey Remmy! :goodvibes Long time no "see". So glad you are here and that you are enjoying the report.

Yes, I would definitely recommend Sci-Fi and Big River. And seeing all of DTD! :thumbsup2

When we were there all the ride photos were buy one get one free. I don't know if they will still be on special or not. Maybe Sheree or Shawna can tell us if they were still running those specials when they were there a few weeks ago. . .

Never gotten a piece of paper from the CM's. But we always get those "Flik Cards"!

Glad you are enjoying the Epcot report! :goodvibes

Crowds/wait times were very low during the week. It was a little busier on the weekend. Overall a very good time to go crowd-wise! :thumbsup2

I wondered where you had disappeared to! I hope you had a nice time in Boston.

Glad you liked the Kona pics! You should definitely check in out sometime! :goodvibes

party: HAPPY NEW YEAR's Eve everyone! party:

I hope everyone has a safe and fun evening and a great day tomorrow! May 2010 bring you much health, happiness, and fun times at Disney World!!:cool1:

Any great New Year's resolutions out there?

Mine is to get caught up on my photo albums/scrapbooking. I'm normally not a procrastinator, but for some reason I have really put this off. I just checked the boys albums and they are close to 2 years behind!! :scared1: Probably has something to do with me spending too much time on the DIS. . . :rolleyes1 So, I am determined to get right on that in January!! :thumbsup2

Hi Shelly,:hug:been a long time...I have been busy! Hope you had a nice christmas and have a great new year. Needed a disney fix today, as I was thinking omg last year we were in WDW! :goodvibes
I am only on page 22, but looks like you had a great time!

OK, so I saw the Kona pics last night with the Tonga toast

 It looks a-m-a-z-i-n-g

I called Bob upstairs to look at them.

He was like 'Oh yeah! I'm getting that! :rotfl2:

Only 8 1/2 months. :cool1:

I've always made the "typical" NY Resolutions (lose wt, pay off credit cards, etc), but Andy and I talked and we have so many plans, dreams, goals, WHATEVER, that we're going to go on a date to our favorite pizza place, grab a table in the corner and put pen to paper about what we want this year to bring, and how we're going to get there! I'm pretty excited about it, so I guess my resolution is to make RESOLUTIONS!! :rotfl2:
HAPPY NEW YEAR SHELLY, AND ALL DISERS!! :grouphug:
