9/27/14, Returning to the Southern Caribbean

Question for the day:

Do you watch the Disney ships pull out on the port web cam?

Answer:

Yes, 3 times a week if we are home. We love watching the ships pull out and day dream about when we are going to be on them.

Occasionally, and usually when a friend is onboard. Like I'm gonna see them! :lmao:
Seriously, it's a Disney fix for me on occasion!

Happy Easter everyone!!

I am praying for a Easter miracle for a 4 year old boy who was pulled lifeless from the Fantasy yesterday around 3:30 p.m.

This morning on the news they said he was life flighted to Arnold Palmers children's hospital and is struggling to hang on to life.
No details if he fell in or what but at age 4 I cant see any other way he would be in the family pool. Its always so crowded you I can understand how you could miss seeing a toddler under the water for a bit.

Same here, I have tons of mugs and we gave away about 30 t-shirts last year but our dresser drawers are still stuffed with them

We're in the same situation! I have political t-shirts from 1994, and Disney t-shirts from 2000 ... they seem to be multiplying!

Just got home from driving through some sub divisions looking at lots and houses. That crossed 2 more places off the list as potential places to live.:confused3 I wonder if we moved into Cinderella's castle if anyone would notice?;)

Hi everyone, I hope everyone is well.

I have not had the chance to log on as much as I would like, have been drowned in work. However, I had to post this. I posted it on the FB page as well. 10 of the funniest complaints recieved from people who have taken a cruise. Too funny. Hope you enjoy! :rotfl2:

Question for the day:

Have you ever been duped by an April Fools Day joke?

My answer:

Unfortunately yes.:worship::worship::worship:

I thought this year would be the year I finally wouldn't get duped because until a couple of minutes ago no one had gotten me. Then I get on the Dis and read a thread about 2 new Disney ships that are supposedly going to be constructed and will begin setting sail in 2018 & 2019. The person who posted it said Disney is releasing the information tomorrow, then I realize, today is April fool, I think I got duped, but I would be really happy if it were true! :goodvibes So far, it is not confirmed, but I think this person duped many! ;)

Those are great. :rotfl2:
Thanks for sharing!!

I havn't heard about new ships. But who knows, maybe?? But for now they aren't always filling the 4 they already have. Perhaps they figure the economy will be better by then or sometimes cruise lines sell off the 2 older ships and replace them. By 2018 and 2019 the Magic and Wonder will be old, so maybe that is the plan?? Maybe its true??

That would be great.

I'm betting it's the same as the one about the GF DVC villas not being part of DVC, but going to become just and expansion of GF and that DVC was planning to build villas at AoA for a 'value DVC'... ( DVC)

Or the one that Wal-Mart was going to be opening a neighborhood market in the new Disney Springs and that many existing buildings would be pulled down to make space... (Chip & Co)

Or the one about the lawsuit against Disney and Starbucks to keep Starbucks out of Main Street because Starbucks is going to use their original storefront and it just won't fit into the Main Street scheme. (our very own DIS)

Anything I hear on April 1st anymore....most companies will not do an announcement on the 1st at all because of this.

The Dream is routinely at 160% occupancy, and the Fantasy is 145% occupancy ... while most other cruise lines are happy with just over 110% occupancy. I am not sure where the occupancy rate is for the classics, but it seems like DCL is trying to find their niche market (hoping it includes Alaska and the Southern Caribbean ... though it's clear it will not include Hawaii).

I can't imagine DCL selling off the Magic or Wonder ... too much technology PIXIE DUST to be entrusted to competition, even if they ships were stripped. The Magic is supposed to circle the world as a Disney goodwill ambassador ... and I believe that will likely happen for an extended period of time (as the fleet grows).

My thought process would be for another two ships to be commissioned at some point in the future ... with one ship being based upon a modified classic ship (perhaps, dedicated to a specific market, or offering an enclosed dome, for Alaskan itineraries) ... and a Dream-class ship. By utilizing existing plans, costs will be dramatically reduced. By building two ships, DCL will garner financial concessions from the ship builder. If two ships are built, it will be easier to construct a smaller ship, perhaps for smaller (less popular) venues ... including Southern Caribbean ... Panama Canal and Mediterranean ... all of which could reap huge financial rewards for DCL in an expanding market.

DCL is trying San Diego as a California (temporary) home port. I am guessing, if they like what they see, DCL might sail to Hawaii 2x per year, 4x through the Canal, and a longer Southern Caribbean itinerary ... perhaps transferring to the Med ... alternating with Baltics and Greek Isles. Bermuda is not out of the question, either!

Question of the day:

Everyone looks forward to warm tropical weather on their Caribbean cruises. So what is the perfect temperature that you want for this cruise?

My answer: 80 is perfect!!

Kathy

It will be interesting to see what happens over the next few years.

I agree! I am not holding my breathe, or making any bets ... however ... I can't see DCL spending hoards of money cutting off the top 3 decks of the Magic, JUST to turn around to sell the ship within 4-5 years later.

NO SNOW!
NO STORMS / HURRICANES!

Other than that, I'm ready, willing and able to take on Mother Nature on her own turf!
:rolleyes1
