9/27/14, Returning to the Southern Caribbean

Good morning everyone,
Its dumping rain this morning and will be that way most of the day, but still hit 80+ again today.
Just a few weeks and it will be hurricane season. I don't mind hurricanes but I hate the tornadoes that follow them.

Off to look at a few houses today. Today are 3 favorites we picked so hoping one of them will be the one we decide on buying.:goodvibes

Have a great day and I will check back later today.

Good luck finding a house....I'm hoping to do the same thing in a few years....

Good luck with the house hunting. Are you moving closer to Disney?

No, none of the ones today are closer to Disney :( Of course we are only 10 miles from there now, any houses closer than that are super expensive!!

How ever if we like any of these 3 houses it would only be a 40 minute drive due to traffic lights. That's not bad really, especially if your there for the day.
We use to live in that area a few years ago and went to all the parks almost every weekend.

A 4th house we liked is available to see today too, so that is exciting too. it would be 30 minutes from Disney.:thumbsup2
2 more hours and we will be out looking!!!

Stay safe, I hear there is some bad weather heading your way!

We did have a terrible thunderstorm for a couple hours. Then it changed to just rain. Thank goodness.

I am tired from looking at houses. So far no go on them, but we have more to see. The one we really wanted to see we didn't get to see yet.

Kathy

Happy Friday,

who has plans this weekend?

Just looking for houses here and will go to Epcot to hear the Turtles in concert!!

Kathy

Good morning everyone, just thought I would check in before heading out to look at some houses again today. Hoping to have better luck today.

So many for sale have renters in them that have trashed the places or wont answer the phones so we cant get an apt to go in and see them.

Today we have 2 nice ones in a golfing community. We know those arn't trashed and are on beautiful wooded l over sized lots. The others I cant even remember where they are, just too many rolling around in my head now:crazy2:

Have a great day everyone, I want to be back in time to watch the Fantasy pull out on the web cam.
back later,

Kathy

Do NOT open any e-mails from me unless I post here that I have sent you a message.

During the night someone hacked my e-mail account and has been sending out Spam from my address.

Please don't open it. I do not know what kind of virus it may have or what it will do to your computer.
I do have highly set security so I do not know how this happened.

Welcome!!!

I got your PM and wrote back to you.:goodvibes
How was the Sandy trip in your opinion?

I have read some who were terrified, others who seemed to be seasoned cruisers who had been in rough seas before said it was rough but not as bad as many new cruisers felt it was. Since they were new to cruising they had no experience involving rough seas.
I guess since your cruising again it must not have bothered you too much.:thumbsup2

The Sandy cruise was great, up until the Sandy part that is. I know everyone had their own opinion on how it was handled by Disney, I don't want to get into that...instead I will tell you how it was in our stateroom.

We had a deluxe family veranda room for the three of us...very nice btw. As we got closer to the storm, the waves outside were splashing up so high that the outdoor walkways off the lobby were closed off and being constantly sprayed by the waves. It looked pretty crazy outside but photos couldn't capture the intensity of the waves.

The last night of the cruise was pretty bad...in the room, anything and everything that was placed on a shelf, dresser or desk came crashing onto the floor. We had a pack n play, so we loaded it with all the glass so it wouldn't break. The curtains to the veranda I had used hair clips to keep shut so in case the glass broke, it wouldn't be all over the room (the door rattled every time the ship lurched into the air and crashed down onto the sea).

We heard people fall out of bed all night and screaming from staterooms around us. My son got sick on the big bed and there was no way to get linens as the luggage was collected earlier and we were told was scattered all around the storage rooms and it was unsage for crew to go there.

My husband opened the curtain in the middle of the night andvwe watched our view from sitting on the bed change from nothing but sky to only ocean. Captain Tom made announcements all through the night to try to assure people and keep them out of the lobby. It didn't work for the lobby situation...people camped under the chandelier for some reason.

We didn't return to port to very late...everyone was exhausted and eager to go home...we couldn't...customs held us up. Breakfast couldn't be served in rotational dining halls, glass and broken plates littered the floor. I checked out the gift shops, merchandise all over the place.

We were lucky, we got a later flight to JFK...only to beat Sandy to NJ and see her again two days later.

Yes, I can't wait to cruise again, yes, I am doing it during hurricane season. I won't be scared away. :)

Disney gave all who cruised a discount...with ours we are joining you all...in a 1 bedroom concierge room! So excited!!!

Thanks for telling me about your experiences. That's all I was interested in. I don't care anything about how Disney handled it. just curious about your experience. So sorry your son got ill. I cant imagine camping under the chandelier!! That's the last place I would want to be.:lmao:

I bet your room will be great!!! This will be an awesome cruise!!!

Kathy

Yeah, chandelier camping was the oddest thing I saw that night...seemed strange that people thought that would be a safe place to be.

I am very excited about the room. It will be our first time in concierge on a Disney ship. :)
