does anyone else notice that things tend to come in 3s?

i got a call wednesday night about an interview for the disney store on monday.

i went to one of the employment agencies today to sign up and was pretty much offered the job of covering their reception for 3 weeks at the end of the month to cover holidays. i said that i'd find out what the disney store were looking for on monday then call her back.

i got a call from my old boss (the boss i liked) in customer services at adventure island (the place i left earlier in the year), saying that the guy who took over from me when i left is leaving in a month and my old job is mine if i want it.

so yay, i'm back to the world of the employed in november!!
for the first couple of months, it'll probably only be about 20 hours a week if that as its off season and there's really not many hours to go around. but it will go back up to full time in march or so.
i've had a think about it since she called, and i'm still going to go to the disney store interview on monday. that is likely to only be temporary til probably the start of january. if i get offered that, i'll probably go back to gemma and ask her if i can start in january, she'll probably be more than fine with that, as going by what happened last year, over winter there arent enough hours to go around and no work to be done anyway, that way i get the best of both worlds, can work for disney and will have a full time job after i finish there!
will see what happens on monday with disney, but i've now got a job!!!!!!!!!!!

i did transfer out of customer services for a reason last year, but i've had so much trouble finding a job since i left the accounts dept, that i cant really turn it down right now. hey its a job!

Awesome, Karen! I'm glad everything worked out. It's great that you can go back to your old job and don't have to worry about training somewhere new.

its just a HUGE relief knowing that i'll be earning money again soon. plus coming up to christmas it was really weighing on my mind not having a job.

Welcome home, everyone! I see that everyone is dealing with the same post-trip depression I am. It's just awful to return to normal life after such an amazing trip! DH wasn't convinced about this cruise up until the time we boarded, but now he is spending hours scouring the DIS and we're considering another 3-day Wonder cruise for our 15th anniversary in March for just the two of us. It was great to travel with a large group but it was also EXHAUSTING to keep up with everyone, so we'd like a more romantic cruise sometime.

I'm sorry we didn't make it to the meet on Embarkation Day! I was amazed at how BUSY we were once we were on the ship and I completely lost track of time. I also want to thank everyone for all the AMAZING FE gifts. We are still in shock at how generous all of you are. Everything was so appreciated and you really helped make things extra-magical for the kids!

Amy

LOL, my DH wasn't convinced about Disney Cruise either, but we're looking for the cruise that stops at Castaway Cay twice to take our teenagers along. I was suprised that Atlantis had parts that were not kept up. We sat at the table with a group who went on the excursion and paid full price, but they did get a meal with their $160. If we went again with our teenagers, we would do the Comfort Suites for 4 people and purchase a day pass when we arrive, from Atlantis. It looked like the office was empty when we passed by it. I forgot to get info from them. Any comments on Atlantis?

OMG, I forgot to say thank you for all the beautiful gifts. My DH and son were thrilled when they saw our door filled with gifts each night. Everyone was so generous. Thanks again! :yay:

i think if we go back to nassau again we might try and get to atlantis, i want to see what all the fuss is about but i hate the DCL price tag!!

Atlantis was really nice but some of the slides were closed. The whole big fuss they make over the conveyer belt taking you up to the slides...yeah, well they weren't working! It's a really nice place and it's huge and it was worth it to see it once but next time I dock in Nassau, I don't plan of leaving the ship lol.

so its kind of a "nice to see it once but not that great" thing?

i'm hoping that now i've got a job pending, that i can start properly saving up for the singapore trip in 2011, and if that goes well i may be able to start on 2012 disney again! the disney withdrawl is starting to kick in!
finally got round to finishing the post holiday laundry (did all the washing but was putting off doing the ironing), and have unpacked everything so now it seems all the more in the past, it doesnt seem like it was only a week since we were at CC :(

I guess so. It'd be one thing to stay at the resort, I'm sure it's great, but getting around Nassau is a pain and I don't exactly love it there. I'm happy I saw it but I'm not in a hurry to go see it again.

Joe is wanting to go to Disney for his bday in mid-Jan. I priced out a long weekend, 4 night stay at ASMo with dining & hoppers plus air and it really wasn't a bad price. I'm thinking about it. It'll be tough with the holidays approaching.

I also want to go for my bday next year since it falls during free dining. :thumbsup2

i really want to book another trip but its just not going to possible, we're planning a surprise family trip for 6 of us for dad's 70th in 2011, going back to singapore to see his family, and thats going to cost a fortune, so thats where all the holiday funds are going to be going for the forseeable future.......

You can live vicariously through me lol. People think we're nuts for wanting to go again so soon, especially 2 times in 1 year. At least you're getting to go on vacation, even though it's not to the World!

Congrats karen oh and you of course have me beat on the pictures but I took 703 pictures on a seven day disney trip.
Greg is already planning on us doing the land and sea again as our 1year anniversary trip he is also having disney withdrals
He said he would like to do the deluxe dining play next time I told him he was nuts that is too much food but he wants to try and get his friends to go on the cruise since we may not have our disney friends dining with us next time.
I don't see any other cruise meet or group being as great as yall. Oh if its not too much trouble. Would like everyones addresses I would like to send yall christmas cards.

we're quite seriously considering the 14 night transatlantic, why oh why didnt we book something/anything on board?

lainey i've emailed you my address :) when you get everyone else's could you email me them along with yours, i'd like to do the same :)

Lainey, I'll email you my address soon.

Karen, I was just on photopass and happened to see your Test Track picture. Were you taking a picture during your ride pictures? :rotfl:

yeah i was trying to take some photos while we were on it, it didnt work though!

it really doesnt seem like we were in castaway cay last week does it?

Hey everyone!! We're back home, and it is cold here!! I miss Florida already. We're going back in two months though, so I won't be missing it long!! I am SO happy that we have our own room next trip though and aren't sharing with Tim's family. Most of his family is fine, but his brother gets obnoxious after a few days. First, he kept turning the thermostate up to like 76 every night so we woke up hot every day, and he takes longer showers than any girl that I have ever known...and he is never ready, we missed the early EMH at the Studios because we were waiting around for him. It was a fun trip though, but noticably busier once the food and wine fest started...maybe next time, we were go not during that (although it was fun!!).

So, we ended up booking a cruise while on board, and I switched it to the 5/10/2011 Alaska cruise. I'm really excited, because it wasn't nearly as expenxive as I thought it would be, and I never thought we'd go there, but always wanted to!! So, YAY for that!! :goodvibes:dance3:

yay for booking the alaska trip!! we were seriously looking at one of the transatlantic cruises last night, but this morning decided it was a better idea to not waste the £3000 or so it would cost and use the money towards more important stuff :(
did you get a good deal by rebooking onboard?

i went for a group interview at the lakeside disney store today at 2, got out about 3pm and we were told we should hear back by the end of the week.

well i just got a call, a whopping 2 hours later!, and

I GOT THE JOB!!!!

its only temporary for christmas, i start on the 19th, but now i can officially say i'm a disney cast member!!!

Yay for getting the job!! I've thought about working at the Disney Store over the holidays too, but we always go to Disney then, and when my SIL worked there you couldn't take any weekends off during the holiday shopping season.

I'm having some second thoughts about the Alaska Cruise. I really want to go, but they leave from Vancouver, which has expensive airfare...so the only thing we could do is fly into Seattle and then take the Amtrak Train to Vancouver...plus, the cruise leaves and returns on a Tuesday, so you have to take extra time off for travel...so i'm not sure. Maybe we'll see how the new cruises on the Dream are... :wizard:

i'd love to do some of the special itineraries, especially the northern capitals and the panama canal, but i looked at the price tags, and went :scared1: at least you've got a cabin booked for the alaska, i'm guessing they'll sell out pretty fast, or the price will sky rocket. it gives you more time and flexibility to decide if its going to work for you, if not you could swap back out. i'm guessing it'll be easier to rebook onto the dream/fantasy, than onto the alaska cruise?

i'm really glad i got this job today! on friday i was offered my old job back at adventure island, i called my boss after i got back from the interview, and we've agreed that i can start again in january after i've finished at the disney store. that way i get the best of both worlds, at the disney store i'm only contracted to do 20 hours a week but there will be more hours and overtime available in the run up to xmas. plus i've got pretty decent hours, monday, wednesday and half day on saturday. i was expecting to be told "you're working weekends" and thats it.
i've gotta go back in "as soon as possible" (i'm going to go in tomorrow) to fill in the starter paperwork, and i start in 2 weeks :)
