9/24/09 3 Day Wonder - Cruise Meets, and FEs, and Goombays oh my!

Not as shocked as 6 months later when the priest left the church, got married and became a travel agent.

Pretty cool story. Do you know his comic book character name or was it the same as his real name?

When Bob and I got married, there wasn't really a class we had to go to but the minister wanted to talk to us to make sure we were ready to get married. It was really a very nice visit...and it turned out that the minister's son is a famous comic book artist named Alex Ross who does Marvel Comics..he even made his dad a character in a series called Kingdom Come.
So we got married by a Minster that was Comic Book Character!

I'll have to tell my husband about this. He works in that industry!

i live about 30 miles to the right of London, i really don't mind storms, i just hate it when the power goes out. Last time it went out for about 5 hours in the middle of winter so it was pitch black, at least at the mo its still light outside.
for the FE exchange there's currently 9 rooms participating so at the mo you'd need to do gifts for 8 rooms. There's going to be a cut off point for people joining in but that'll be closer to the cruise. You can make a FE if you want but anything will do. Last year i used a tote bag, some people have used Christmas stockings in the past, its up to you, as long as it fits on the metal fish outside your door, you can use it. The gifts can be big or small, you can give out gifts each day or just once, its up to you? You can give out your gifts whenever you want. Once we get final numbers I'm going to do a map for everyone so we can find the rooms. Basically its just a bit of fun, you can take it as light hearted or as seriously as you want. There's no real hard rules about it.
once my power comes back on I'll post the list of who's in each group so you know who you're buying/making for. You can do one gift per cabin or one per person, its up to you. I'm personally doing one gift bag per cabin with lots of little bits in.

I just watched the slide show of your wedding. Your pictures are beautiful! I love your Magic Kingdom photo shoot, very pretty. Does your dress have white embroidery or it or is it silver? I would have loved to have a Disney Fairytale wedding. We talked about it, then told Bob's parents that is what we wanted to do. They ended up asking us to have it in Chicago, because Bob has so many elderly aunts and uncles who wanted to be there (they hated Bob's first wife...and thankfully they love me) and it wasn't feasible to ask them to travel to Orlando. So I am hoping that one day I get to have a Disney Vow Renewal!

Steph, I love the black and red in your wedding party...and the red accent in your dress is striking. One of my favorite shows is Platinum Weddings, and so many of the brides on that show wear colored wedding dresses. They recently had an episode where the brides dress was a black ball gown, it was a pretty dress...but reminded me of prom for some reason. . Anyway if you like weddings it's a good show...and the people on it don't really have a budget, so the sky is the limit for these brides and grooms.

Boy have I been chatty today....it's cuz it's Friday and I don't want to do any actual work, LOL.

my dress was ivory and i'm not 100% sure but i think the embroidery was a darker shade of ivory or cream. the original dress i was looking at were seperates, the top was red and the bottom was an ivory skirt. i want to have a vow renewal sometime too, after this trip we wont be going back til at least 2012, so it maybe for our 10th anniversary in 2015?

we decided to go out to the pub for a drink as our power went off and it was getting dark. we'd have had to shut cerby in the dining room as we'd have had the candles out, so we decided to go out instead. but happy to report that the power is now back on!!

Ugh, I am so glad I'm home and I don't have to go back to work til Monday. One of my co-workers (a he) really ticked me off today. We have this little chime that rings to let us know when someone has come in for the travel agents. I already had someone at my desk and my other co-worker had people at her desk too. The chime went off around 4:40 and I tell him that someone is on queue, can he please take care of them since we already have people. He says no, he's going home, and leaves at 5. So he left the man waiting for almost a half hour and I had to take care of him after I finished with the prior client and got stuck there til after 5:30 when I could have left at 5. I don't usually rat people out but I sent an email to my boss (she wasn't in today) and told her what happened. He does this ALL THE TIME and complains non-stop about EVERYTHING. I'm just sick of hearing it and sick of having to pick up his slack.

Had to vent about that. Trying to relax and unwind a bit because I'm supposed to go out tonight but that put me in a foul mood.

Jen, that sucks at work!! I hate it when people do that. I get really mad at work when I have to work super long hours, because my supervisor NEVER helps me. So I work 12-15 hours a day during our filing season, and she works 7 hours, 3 days!! It makes me really angry, but we don't have a manager (well orchastrated by her!!) and I have nobody to tell. I'm glad you can at least tell your manager!!

This weekend we are at my Dad's. Tim has his motorcycle class, but it's kind of far from our house, but closer to my Dad's so we're staying here. He's there now. I'm not fond of the whole motorcycle idea, but, he does a lot around the house and he never buys anything...so I can't really complain. Plus, part of the deal was he gets the motorcycle, I get to book a 7 day cruise when we are on this one...so, I said "deal"!!

I may not be able to make the crafty gift for yall steph i will try yall arent allergic to any kind of candy?
Our invitations came in so my weekend plans are to put them together and get them mailed out i love all of yalls weding pictures Donna yours in 84 reminds me of the pictures of my mom and dads wedding i actually have my moms dress (i dont know what she was thinking whenshe planned a wedding in the middle of the summer and had long lace sleeves on herdress!!!

My daughter is at her Dad's for one more week, so it was just me, the hubs and the baby tonight. All we could talk about was our trip! We're so incredibly excited...and we've done this cruise a ton of times. This is my 5th Wonder cruise and my husband's 4th. We didn't get to take a vacation last year because I had the baby, and then my husband forgot our anniversary...whoops!

We went to dinner tonight and then to Kohk's...great sale tonight and tomorrow there! Picked up some stuff for work. Went to Target and got a toy walker for the kiddo since he's starting to walk now. And that was really our exciting evening! LOL. I have to do lawn work in the morning and then we have church tomorrow night at 6 (we go to the Saturday night service instead of Sunday morning; a lot less crowded). I'll have to start thinking about my FE gifts.

Oh, these were the letters I made for my son's room last year. Took two days, and it nearly killed my very pregnant back to lean over to get them done correctly...haha:

I think it doesn't matter what anyone exchanges...it's just in good fun, right? You never know, maybe I'll just dig out my kid's old Halloween candy and give that to you guys....

Seriously though, we're not allergic to anything. We love foodage just a liiiiiiiittle too much!

Okay, and I've gone back a few threads and don't know what a "goombay" is...

you have to go back a LOT to find out the goombay talk, i can't remember whats in it but i remember thinking "thats a whole lot of booze!!".
from what lainey's been telling me about them if you want to be able to remember what's in it, write it down because you probably wont be able to remember afterwards!! lol

Thanks everybody. My boss is used to calling him into her office and repremanding him for one thing or another so...we'll see what happens Monday I guess. I'll keep you posted. I'm sure he'll be angry at me for saying something about it but this isn't the first complaint she's dealt with. It's his own fault.

Last night I went to a concert for this old high school band that got reunited. It was really weird because a) my first boyfriend ever was in the band (he looks exactly the same!) and b) there were people singing along to all the songs. I was like 'Really? They had this big of a following?' To me they're Sean, Tom, and Scott: guys I graduated with. Threw me off a little lol.

Tonight I'm supposed to go to a family party for Joe's cousin. It's his birthday. Tomorrow I'm just hanging out and watching Entourage later on. I'm sure I'll be checking in between now and then!
