August 2nd quotes:

$8428.52 for 2 adults, 13 y/o; 9 y/o in 5B
$5349.26 for 2 adults in 5B (cat. 6 midship)

No insurance, no transfers

It happens every time though. The past two release dates I have sat on hold for over an hour or more while watching the prices increase online. I couldn't book online because I had a ressie to transfer. It is a gamble every time you call in on opening day. Some people have no problem getting through in the first five minutes and some people don't. Today I dialed two different numbers on two phones for 40 minutes. I then was on hold for 1 1/2 hours. I know some people got lower prices than I did, just like in 2007 for the EBPC repo and in 2008, but there is nothing I can do about it.

I do understand the tier pricing and it wouldn't bother me so much if we all had an equal chance to book today, but....as you know, our 5th completed cruise won't be until November. It is paid in full...no cancellations without penalty. I just feel as if I'm being penalized by not having sailed more by having to wait a week before I can book, all the while possibly watching the price rise. And, although we've only sailed 4 times, we have booked 7 cabins for one family on those 4 sailings, which might equate to 7 sailings for a family of 4 people or less. I know, I know...it's all been said before, but I was surprised how relatively reasonable the prices for AK were this morning and I'm still afraid that by next week, it will be out of our budget! (Or maybe I should say, I won't pay thousands more for the same cruise next week that others are booking this week.) :sad1: Still hoping...
I think the tier pricing is unfair to those that cant afford to go on alot of cruises. They are the ones that need the lower prices, not the ones that can cruise all the time because they are financially blessed. I have been on 7 Disney cruises and can book today.

But an extra $1000 or more for a cruise that they have to wait a week for to book makes it that much harder. JMO but I think DCL should have maybe left all booking to all on the same day but just let the tiers be for booking excursions and palos to the Gold/ platinum members with a special gift and so on.

I noticed on here that someone booked the PC already with a GTY. Already. That will make it much harder next week with it being sold out.

I am happy for us that we can book early but sad for those that cant,.
I am not concerned about the $$, however I completely agree with the fairness of the teir status. I agree that is should apply to excursions and palo ect. I have done 4 cruises..5th in 39 days..and cannot book today and will have to hope it is not booked before 9/28 :(

Unless I've overlooked them, there are no prices for 2011 Caribbean. And, since the cabin assignments have been changed, won't it affect the prices as well? We are sailing with 5 other families and want to be ready with our choices on Monday when it becomes availiable to us.

Thank you again.

No one has posted prices for the regular Magic eastern or western 2011 cruise yet but they are available for booking today.

The $10549 for 21 Jun Alaska in COOT is no ins or trsfrs.

However due to the $1600 non-refundable deposit, I'm switching to a Cat 5A. So 8532 (midship Cat T) will be available.

Cat. 7a Navigator's Verandah $3251.00
Cat. 10a Inside stateroom with "secret porthole" $2201.00
Two adults, no children.
Includes taxes, insurance. No transfers.
Deposit was $300 per person.

Cat 7A - 2 adults = $1831.06
Cat 0T - 2 adults = $5631.06

No insurance or transfers included.

Just seeing if anyone got on the first cruise out and looking for a price of whatever category you got!!

Hi HappyGrumpy:

We are on the first cruise to Alaska. After a 2 hour and 5 minute wait this morning we got the following:

Room 6616 - starboard side

Three adults for May 3, 2001: $5683.89.

We are SO EXCITED!!!!!

Leslye

Would anyone who is eligible today be willing to call and price a Cat 5C for 1A/1C (age 10) and a Cat 11B for 1A/2C (both age 10) without insurance or transfers for the May 2011 Eastbound TA? I am trying to decide now if the total will be too much $$ so I can adjust our plans for next Monday. I know the prices may not be the same by then, but it'll give me a ballpark idea.

Thanks so much!

Panama Canal
2A cat 7 (secret Nav verandah 7620)
10% ob booking discount, no trans, no insurerance, all taxes and fees
$6,398.36

That comes to $1600 per person per week, a rate I've paid for a 7 day in the past, but nowhere near as 'inexpensive' as the last PC or the TA's.

Asked for a Cat 9a/b quote in case my travel mate wants to save some $$. I'll also look back over this thread later to see if any were posted.

Why not try a Travel Agent they would have had booknigs today and should give you a good idea.

Someone may have already posted this, but I'm sure the wait times were so long because people needed to 'shop'. Had the rates been posted in advance, everyone could have been calling and booking exactly what they wanted.

ALASKA!!! 2 adults, 1 kid(14), cat 5B $6767. We transfered an existing ressie so this probably reflect the 10% onboard discount. Includes insurance and transfers. Sail date is July 19!

As for the categories, the "A" cats are premium. Lucky for us we prefer to be up front so our stateroom is a "B"!

Lisa, just noticed on your first page that you have my Alaska booking as a "straggler" because I forgot the date ("OB ?? C05B 2A1K 14 $6767"). We're sailing on July 19.

We moved an existing onboard reservation to get this - that ressie had the 50% off deposit and they did not ask for any more!

I agree it causes more work for them and us.

HMMM just thinking .....I think they wont have the 2011 prices until Oct...for the Dream. And the Dream we have been thinking may only be doing the 3 and 4 day cruises that the Wonder had done. The Magic will be doing the Med. We dont have all the answers yet on that if I'm correct...can anyone collaborate that for me????

Let me check for ya....

Thanks for posting that. :)

Time to take the kids out to their activities. I won't be back online until later tonight and will catch up the posts after this in the first one.

That Cat 7 price looks pretty good to me, comparatively anyway. ;)

My TA said all the reclassified cabins were gone by the time she got through, and my quote for 2A in a Cat 7 is almost $1,000 more than yours at $7,345

I assume my price is without air, transfers, or insurance; as that's what I asked for, but all I have is a quick e-mail with the total so far.

Edited to add: above price is with ins included

Ok, analysts.....

Has anyone noticed a price increase today?

Or is it taking too long for anyone to book for the ships to start filling up?

On what we know it will be very difficult to say, all I can say is my same room, a CAT 3 , or a T in 2011 is £1k more for 11 nights, than 12 nights in 2010. So there is a year on year increase, and thats not port charges or taxes.
