We got through around noon.

We booked the 7/12/11 Alaska

Two Cat 5C's

2 Adults: $5367

3 Adults: $7040

Both with insurance, no transfers

We were quoted $5748 for a Cat 9A for 3 adults

See now THAT really irks me. That is just plain WRONG on so many levels to only allow it for the gold & platinum members. As a silver CC member if I cannot transfer my existing ressie with its 1/2 deposit on the 28th and keep the 1/2 deposit I will NOT book one of their stoopid specialty cruises on either of these old rust buckets!!! I don't have a problem paying the difference between the 1/2 amt. we've already paid and the new 1/2 amt. but WHY should I give them a LOAN THAT BIG for just almost 2 years and for WHAT in return? A stressful week of waiting & hoping that they still have the cabin I want at a price I can afford? Nope. Not gonna happen for me. It is looking less & less like I will be adding a new ticker to my siggie any time soon!

I agree with you...this $600 per person for a cruise that is almost 2 years out is plain crazy...and as hyped up as we were about doing this cruise, if that is the case we are likely going to have to bow out :sad1:...we leave on the Magic on 10/10 so we just don't have an extra $1200 sitting around (to go from the $300pp to $600pp).

But I did have a thought. Couldn't I call and book just myself and my DH in a room and add the kids on later? Or would that totally mess things up??

The OBC's people are talking about are the ones that you receive when booking a future cruise while on a current cruise. Some people were transferring their cruise they booked onboard to a date in 2011. These are the people that have the OBC's from Disney cruise line.

DCL is NOT offering onboard credits just because you are booking a NEW reservation.

The new OBC's for rebooking onboard are

Silver
$100 for 3-6nt cruises
$200 for 7nt or longer cruises

Gold
$150 for 3-6nt cruises
$275 for 7nt or longer cruises

Platinum
$250 for 3-6nt cruises
$350 for 7nt or longer cruises

I don't know if these are for 2010 also or just for 2011 cruises

I just read this online when looking at my reservation. Little things amuse me, but I found this very amusing:

Payment in full is due on April 11, 2011.

Start booking onboard fun and shore excursions on May 11, 2011. Your vacation must be paid in full.

Um... if I get to May 11, and my cruise is NOT paid in full, the cruise will already have been cancelled since the final payment date is one month BEFORE That.

Are 7-night Mexico sailings open for booking yet? I didn't see prices on first post.

Anyone gotten pricing on the 2-room suites (Cat R or S) to Alaska? Sorry if it was in here--this thread is up to a lot of pages. :-)

I believe you CAN do that...but you will have to pay whatever the going rate is for them at that time.

May 10th- someone I know got cat 2 for 4 adults for a little over $15000.

I have read through all the posts, and I did not see any prices quoted. A few people said they had those rooms, and they would post back, but have not yet. I was reading each posts because I was looking for those costs also.

Another thought... I had a 7 day western for Christmas of 2010 on RCCL with their almost lowest level balcony for 2 adults. My cruise on 8/9/11 is only $491 more in a 5C for 2 adults. So, I'm guess DCL with their tiered pricing is getting to be more industry standard.

Does anyone have any idea why DCL is doing this with the higher amount deposit on the 28th? That seems really unfair for so many reasons. Thats a lot of money to have tied up. For us it is $3500 deposit for 5 people. :scared1::eek: Luckely we have the money for it but what about those that dont.....Why not have the same deposit for everyone.

My heart goes out to those that want to cruise yet have to put so much out at once that cant afford to. $600 is soooooo high. But that's Disney for ya.
