Um, not quote, but I second this idea! It's not horribly out of the way, and it's a beautiful drive if you cut through the mountains! Sadly, it does mean coming to FL via I-75 - not the most "fun" route, excepting the giant peanut and Cordele, GA - Watermelon Capital of the World.![]()
If you drink, don't drive, do the watermelon crawl.
I do like this idea. Something else I just came up with this morning whilst talking to my neighbor was this:
NH schools take a week off (this year) from 2/23 to 3/2, then ANOTHER week from 4/26 to 5/5. February's probably still too chilly, but we could maybe go to TN to see his dad on the April break. It would be warmer down there, we could probably not swim in the lake, but they don't ever take the boat out of the water, so we could ride. Maybe hit Dollywood (TE, are you listening) and not freeze. That would eliminate the need to visit them in the summer, and maybe they'd come see us in the holiday times again like they usually do. Two visits a year is all they expect from us, so...
D's birthday is 4/26 and the boys' is 4/27, but that might be nice for his dad to see them close to the birthdays. We would NOT stay that long - 3 nights is also about the maximum they seem to want us around.
Hmmm. More discussion with D is necessary!
OK, so here's the thing... after a big upset yesterday, I now have some extra DVC points I can use for August. (I just found out that Jordan's college finals will be the 1st week of our big Christmas 2008 vacation.Long story short, we have to cut our December trip short by at least 3 days. I know! I know! Poor me!
BUT, this is supposed to be our 20th Anniversary trip, so now I've got less time to work with to plan something fabulous.
)
Well, darn it, but I like the suggestion that you could take 3 adult-only days!
