8.9 earthquake and tsunami in Japan!

Theyre saying there are people on top of the airport terminal buildings waiting to be rescued. Theyre working on the trapped people first.

I am watching it too and this is devastating to see. The earthquake would be bad enough, but the tsunami makes it so much worse. Now Hawaii is under a tsunami warning.

It is being reported as the 7th largest earthquake....

VERY scary! Thankfully theyre saying only one woman died, the poor woman.

Twitter reports are saying that the parking area and Tokyo DisneySea is experiencing flooding. It's the middle of the day, so I'm sure there were lots of people in the area.

They say if it hits Hawaii it wont be for hours because its traveling slowly.

Travel to higher ground in Hawaii will be slow because there are so many people at sea level and so few roads leading into the center of the islands.
I posted a warning for tsunami.

I can't believe the panic that I would feel knowing that my children were trying to get home from school in this. They are talking about them being calm, I know that I sure couldn't be calm.

What time is it in Hawaii, about 10 pm or so? I would have to think that trying to do that at night would be harder too. Scary.

Here's a picture of the people at Tokyo Disneyland right after the quake. There are reports the parking lot was flooding, I hope they all stay safe!

My prayers go out to the people of Japan.

Wow about the parking lot!!! The people there are so lucky they didn't get washed out into the ocean like those people in Indonesia did!

Well I have to go to bed, I have to get up for work in 3 hours!!! I hope by morning I don't see that the situation has gotten worse.

VERY scary! Thankfully theyre saying only one woman died, the poor woman.

Unfortunately, I think there will be more people ultimately reported than that. One person Tweeted to CNN that her grandfather died in the tsunami. :(

One last thing, well two. I saw the video of the wave approaching Japan and I can imagine how frightening that would be, to see it coming in the distance.

And last, the governor of Hawaii has ordered the evacuation of people on the coast to go "uphill". A reporter is saying gas station lines are crazy long. There are warning sirens going off in Maui. I pray it doesn't hit Hawaii!!!!!!

Oh no. I just read they are expecting the tsunami to hit Hawaii at around 8 am EST(so middle of the night in Hawaii) hoping for the safety of all the people impacted by this disaster.

I have friends holidaying in Fiji and they're on tsunami warning, expected to hit about 2-3am our time (8:40pm now)

The news coverage is scary

No link, just heard it at the top of the hour local news, but the California coastline is under Tsunami warning now.

Wow that's terrible :sad1:

I saw that headline and thought surely that could not be a serious post. One or the other is horrible, but BOTH, just unimaginable.
