8/17/2008 Double Dip 4-day Wonder

Okay - I have just now located the meets thread for this cruise, and I haven't read all of the pages yet. I came across this get-to-know-you post and decided I'd jump in by adding our info.

Cool, welcome aboard! Anybody keeping count? Looks like this is going to be one big bash. :dance3: So how many in your cast, virginiamama?

Maybe we can make 1 list with everyone who will be on the cruise including a mini-profile? That might be nice and usefull...

So how many in your cast, virginiamama?

4 total - DH, Me, DS(8) and DS(4) Yikes - I just had to adjust their ages since they have May birthdays, I'm always saying my boys are 7 and 3. Our entire family suffers from Disneyitis. It all started when I convinced DH that we should take our older son to WDW for his last hurrah as an only child. I created a monster! We're now DVC owners and total DCL nuts. We have been selected to host one of those DCL parties. So hopefully that will go well.

We will definitely be dressing up for Pirate Night. DH and I got full blown costumes before our '06 cruise. I hope mine still fits! I suppose DSs will be pirates for Halloween again this year!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!

Cruising will be 4 of us.....me, DH, DS (13) and DD (12). We have late seating. We're in a cat 3 directly under the Goofy pool which seems to be the place where DCL puts us almost every time. During the day the location is great but the noise from deck 9 at night is a real pain.

Spent the Christmas break skiing in Vermont. There was a TON of snow. It was magical skiing through the woods, felt like being in an enchanted forest.

Happy New Year all..

If you go to this URL, http://rosebudsduds.com/Cruise Apparel.html I have put the preliminary design up for you all to look at. What do you think? I have put a link there if you want to email me, or just post here....

Getting excited now that it's the same year we are going!:thumbsup2

Coach Rick,

Wow - its cold this morning. Looking at your t-shirt design helps warm me up.

Love the design - but could you put in words "Disney Wonder" somewhere on the shirt (maybe above the date). That way we can remember which ship we were on when we wear the shirt after the cruise.

Yes, a check of the thermometer this morning here in the biggest little state shows 3 degrees, with wind chill of -24. Better than top of Mt. Washington at this time. It's -8, with the 74 MPH winds and a wind chill of -64!

Yes, I will most certainly put Disney Wonder on the shirt. I thought of that after I posted it...

Ok, it's fixed....
I have also included on that page, two other, 2 color versions. More colors = higher cost. Of course single color would be cheapest, but that would be boring. :upsidedow

For pricing, I need to get an idea of a quantity. We don't need to do that just yet, but I would say some time around June, just when we are all in the middle of making spa, and Palo ressies, I will need an idea. These will be done using a screen printing process, not iron-on transfers. The design will be 12"X12". Price range will be anywhere from $9-$15 depending on quantity and which design we all decide on.

It's been a long time since I've visited this thread. Happy New Year everyone!

7 and a half months. The end is in sight!

- Jen, turning 40 on the cruise, traveling with DH Pete who will be 51, DS Storm who will be 14, my dad, his wife, and their daughter Hannah who will also be 14.

Coach Rick,

I like the top left design best. Thanks for putting in the word "Wonder".

We will need four shirts. I like the lime green color.

It was about 10 degrees outside this morning. I was outside around 6pm chatting with my UPS driver who was making a delivery and my feet started to hurt as the ground was so cold.

Now I'm watching the orange bowl and tuning up the families skis.

Coach Rick,

Ahh, I miss skiing so much! We used to go just about every weekend, then along came kids and hockey, and that finished that! But that's ok, I love watching the kids play hockey, and coaching, but some day I will get back on the slopes. My favorite is Cannon Mountain in Franconia, NH. In fact I have a timeshare on Cannon, 3rd week of January, but haven't used it in years. Just paying maintenance fees for something I only wish I could use. Oh well... I am transferring that week to my oldest daughter when she graduates from college this year. So at least I know she will be using it starting next year.

We're very fortunate that skiing is our only winter activity so we have the free weekends.

Smuggler's Notch is all time shares and we've been tempted many times to buy a time share there. But we like the flexibility of booking whenever we want for whatever time length we want.

We have season passes to a ski resort in the Pocono Mountains of PA. We make day trips there on the weekends.

I will have to video tape the Rutgers bowl game tomorrow as we'll be on the slopes.

Hi everyone, Happy NY!!!
We're just back from 5 days at Disney Paris, had a great time. Saw Enchanted at a annual passportholders event in the Walt Disney Studios. I really loved the movie. It were the last days of the Christmas season and the parks were very crowded so we went to Paris and did some shopping :)
Had hoped that the vacation planning dvd's would have arrived by now but nothing yet, will have to be patient :)

Hi there,

Just to let you know that we are on this cruise during which our DS becomes a teenager and we celebrate our 16th wedding anniversary.

We will be at WDW for 9 days before we go on our first ever cruise and then on to Vero Beach for another 5 days.:cool1:

Welcome to the thread, MarkLyndaJakeChloe (nice to see someone else who spells Lynda correctly!)! You have a great vacation to look forward to! What a nice way to celebrate your anniversary!

And Happy New Year to everyone else!

The T shirts look cool, Coach Rick, and I'll let you know how many we will need. Unfortunately my DS15 is in the stage where he wouldn't be caught dead wearing the same T shirt as his mom, but I'll see if my DD13 wants one. You did a great job designing them and I'll want one for sure!

Sounds like there are a few 13 and 14 year olds on the cruise so my DD will be happy!

I would add my welcome to MarkLyndaJakeChloe also!

Thanks Lynda. My dad almost let the cat out of the bag on me New Years day, but I made one of my masterful saves!

My dad has been very sick the past two months and has been in and out of the hospital 4 times since the beginning of November. Christmas morning I had to rush down to their house to get him to the hospital, and he was there the remainder of the week. Anyhow we were sitting at the table discussing his hospital stays, and he said, one thing that keeps me going is looking forward to the next cruise. My son looked at me, and I said, well you will have to wait, the new ships aren't ready. Dad caught on and played along by saying, "I wish they would hurry up, 2011 is an awful long time". Phew:thumbsup2 Made it. I had told my kids that when the new ships are launched we would take a cruise, so that played right in.:woohoo:

MarkLyndaJakeChloe....:welcome: :welcome: :welcome: So glad you booked this cruise. Sounds like our teens will have some familiar faces.

Willem.....hope the crowds weren't too bad at Disneyland Paris, though shopping in Paris sounds lovely as well. Glad you liked Enchanted. Can't wait until that comes out on DVD.

Sorry to hear DCL is taking so long to get the planning DVD to you. By March we should be getting the Wonder planning kit.

Coach Rick - so sorry to hear about your father. That must have been scary to take your dad to the hospital on Christmas Day. I hope he is doing better.

That's wonderful to hear that he is using the cruise to make himself get better. And that was some pretty quick thinking on your part when your dad almost let the cat out of the bag. Glad you're dad caught on quickly and played along.

Lynda Silk.....loved the comment about your name. :thumbsup2

Well, we certainly are having summer cruising weather here in the northeast US. As an avowed winter weather fanatic, I find the high temperatures quite disgusting.

My Girl Scout troop is camping this weekend at a local YMCA camp and this is the third winter in a row that we pick the week where the temperatures warm up. So instead of sled riding, ice fishing and ice skating we find lots and lots of mud.

This time I've smartened up....all the girls will be together in their own section of the cabin and all us moms on the other side. That way the girls can keep each other up at night while we moms get some sleep.

Coach Rick, what a wonderful story about your dad. I was sorry to hear that he's been ill, but it was so neat to hear about how he's looking forward to the cruise and how you managed to salvage the surprise for your kids! In hockey terms, you managed some pretty stick handling there (sorry, we're still on a bit of a high from winning the Jr championships up here!).

Willem, lucky you to be able to go to Disneyland Paris! And I loved the movie Enchanted too. I'm looking forward to meeting you and your partner and hearing your European perspective on things!

Ski-and-Sea, sounds like a good strategy re the sleeping arrangements on your camping weekend! And our weather up here has been crazy too. On New Year's Day, we got a ton of snow and we all spent the first day of 2008 shovelling like mad. Earlier this week, our temps went up to 13 degrees C and all the snow has melted away. Yesterday, we had wicked winds up to 100 km and everything was blowing all over the place and signs were even falling off of highrise business towers in downtown Toronto. We seem to getting a bit of everything, and everything is quite extreme, no middle ground. When we do get snow, the kids go out and toboggan asap because they never know if the snow will last more than one day! Ah well, I guess we all have 2 days at Castaway Cay to look forward to!

Have a great day, everyone!

Sorry I haven't been around in a while, but December was crazy. Love the shirts - my fav is bottom left, all black and green, but I don;t really care. I will need 3 or 4 (depending if DH gets in the modd to wear one!)

Any more word on the itinerary yet - like Palo brunch, etc?
