8/17/2008 Double Dip 4-day Wonder

Hi everyone, Looking for some magic on line after a busy day at work. Got the Visa bill today, our cruise is payed now :)
Since April 2007 DLP is very crowded every weekend. They're celebrating their 15th anniversary and kids can go free so that, together with new rides and a new parade, makes people come. But that's good news for our shares :)
Here winter has gone too. It's 10°C now but very wet :( Prefer cold but dry.
Saw the news about the Toy Story musical, looks good. Can't wait to see the shows! I've heard they're very good so my expectations are high.

We have heard zilch about what day Palo brunch will be held. My guess is DCL will be forced to decided sometime in February as that is when people sailing in May will be able to make their online Palo reservations.

I've never done Palo brunch so I'm interested if anyone else is, not sure if DH will - he just likes hanging out on the verandah.

Yes, I am very excited about the new Toy Story Musical. You know it will be amazing since the Pixar executives took a direct role in making it. And its nice for the Wonder have its own special show like how the Magic has Twice Charmed.

I haven't done brunch, but did dinner. I do plan on doing brunch this time. Can't wait to make that ressie....That will mean I don't have to hie my little secret from the kids much longer. :cool2:

Ok you guys have another group to add to your list!

My wife and my 3 sons (16,15,13) just finally saw a hole in the summer schedule to get in a quick fix!
We have never been on any cruise before.
My wife and I are pretty excited, and I think the 13yo, but you really can't tell with the older ones.
I was popping through the 19 page! thread and this looks like a fun group!

Like Coach Rick, we are also an active hockey family, down a bit from him, here in CT.

My sons all play for Mid-Fairfield. The oldest is a Midget Minor. The middle is a Bantam Major, and the youngest a Peewee major. They have all been through the hockey grinder for a bunch of years now. The oldest is waiting on his applications to Prep/Boarding Schools, so we figured this would be a nice last fling before he moves.

I hope to get a chance to meet everyone on board. I think we asked for the late seating at dinner, but I am not sure when/if we get confirmation of this.

:welcome: :welcome: :welcome:

Glad to have you onboard.

When you get your confirmation from DCL it will indicate what dinner seating you have. "Main" seating means early seating. But you won't know the exact time (whether 8:00; 8:15; 8:30).

Wow - we've got quite a crowd in the teen club. :thumbsup2

And don't worry about your older ones - once they get on the Wonder they will be amazed.

One of the neat things about the double dip cruises is that the first thing you see on the first morning is the ship pulling into Castaway Cay and that is a beautiful sight. Have breakfast outside at the Beach Blanket Buffet and bring a camera to watch the ship back into the dock.

:cool1: Woo Hoo...Welcome......this is going to be so cool! More people = more fun.:woohoo: :woohoo: :dance3:

Hockey, THE coolest game on earth...but up here everyone is hyped for the Patriots right now. Since they are only 9 miles from my house, it's all anybody is talking about. Sunday at 3 PM life will temporarily stop for a couple hours!:scared1:

The suspension of all life's existence will continue beginning at 6:30pm when the Giants play.

What a weekend!!!! I took my Girl Scout troop camping (cabin camping). We had 13 girls and 9 moms go. We did the high ropes confidence course. All my moms did the entire course. What a thrill.

And to cap it off the Giants won. And Terrell Owens crying after the game just made it sweeter. :rotfl2:

Just booked yesturday for this cruise cat.5.....this will be our third disney cruise, first veranda.....I am soooooo exited.....we are doing 4 nights at coronado before the cruise....driving from texas and plan on seeing some sights.....it will be me(42)....ds(5)....dd(19) and her boyfriend (19)...so exited about 2 days at castaway cay......

:welcome: :welcome: :welcome:

So glad you booked this trip. Having a verandah can be addicting - ahhh to be sitting on your verandah while at Castaway Cay. Are you port or stardboard side?

Well, good luck to all four NFL teams this Sunday. Its going to be a great day of football. Can't wait.

Regardless of who wins on Sunday, Eli Manning has won my respect. Can't imagine anything sweeter than him knowing his big brother will be watching from the sidelines.

Hi Everyone......Glad to see lots of new friends are joinging us. Glad to see lots of boys too. I have a DS who will be one month short of 15 and a DD13. Last year, there were lots of girls for my son. Oddly enough he met two girls he went to school with, and hooked up with them.

Should we start compiling a list of who's sailing? Last time I made a list of:

DIS name, name or code + age of the children, early/late seating for dinner

EX:
Dizzyworld, DH, DS14, DD13-- Early
OR
Dizzyworld--Shirley, Ron, Alex/Ace (14), Allison (13) -- Early

Should we add room numbers too?

Let me know what you think.

Stay warm. Enjoy the games.

Absolutely we will get together onboard. Customary DIS meet in the Promenade Lounge at 3pm on the first day. That is a great place to gather and introduce ourselves then onto the safety drill and the sailaway party.

The Wonder got some fabulous drydock changes and has some advantages over the Magic right now. Besides getting the big jumbotron as well, the Wonder has a really cute toddler splash area next to the Mickey pool and the Quiet Cove area got really pretty teak furniture and the loungers around the pool have comfy cushions :cloud9: I will be spending plenty of time on those.

I find the CMs as a group are more outgoing and friendly on the Wonder versus the Magic. That's not to say the Magic's CM are not good, but the ones on the Wonder just have that extra spark.

There really isn't anything bad about the Wonder other than that DCL is taking forever to figure out which day to hold Palo brunch.

As for 2009....the Magic stays in the Caribbean all year long  with new stops in St. Croix and Tortola. The western itinerary is still the same. So lots of choices for 2009. We're on the 8/22 western as we haven't been to Cozumel since 2006.

:welcome: pixiedust: :beach: :welcome: to all our new friends.

cortegro...thanks for starting the list. Please add MD to our list.

Ski- and -Sea....I agree about wondering when the brunch will be. I enjoy that more than dinner at Palo.

And it is cold here in Maryland. Brrr....Good day to be off and think about WDW/DCL especially since we are adding a few more days at the end of the cruise instead of coming home.

Still thinking about ground transportation. We've usually used a town car service over the years, and last year even rented a car. We used National since they are on WDW property and this is where it would get returned too. Just a minor inconvenience taking a taxi from the rental place at the port back to the port, and then taking the taxi with all our stuff back to the rental place. At least we were more in control of our time. Choices, choices, choices.

Stay warm everyone.:goodvibes
