8/17/2008 Double Dip 4-day Wonder

Oh, Coach Rick, how sorry I was to hear the news about your father. My deepest sympathy to you and all of your family; my heart goes out to all of you. At least your dad had a peaceful passing surrounded by his loved ones. And as we've all said so many times in the past, he was such a lucky man to have been so loved and to have such a wonderful family.

Thank you for letting us know. Take care and know that we are all thinking of you.

Coach Rick,

Lynda said it perfectly. What a blessing that you all were there at the end. I hope you have absolutely no regrets. You and your family are terrific people and it sounds like your dad was truly at peace when he left this world. What a wonderful gift to give him.

I'm sure when you go on your cruise next summer that you will see signs that your father is with you.

I see him everywhere... I was alone the other day at their home, and I walked around asking him for one small sign that everything was ok. An hour later my DW called me to tell me that my youngest DD missed her ride to soccer with the girls she usually rides with. We later found out that that very car got into a very bad accident, and the car flipped over and one of the girls broke her cheek bone. I said, geesh dad, I was looking for a small sign. :)

At the services today I got to play Amazing Grace at the church for him on my horn. Then at the grave I played taps, and just as I finished a flock of geese took off from about 20 yards away and flew directly over head and then turned south. WOW is all I could think. I believe his love was so strong for us, he will never leave us.

Thanks so much for your kind words and thoughts!

I lost my dad over 20 years ago and I still feel that he's with me. I can feel him laughing when I'm yelling at my kids and saying exactly the same things he'd say to me, and I can feel him celebrating during the happy times too. Love is an amazing thing and I really believe that it does transcend physical death.

And no kidding re the 'small sign'! How terrible about the accident but thank goodness your DD wasn't in the car. You're right, he's up there looking out for all of you.

Coach Rick,

I'm very sorry to hear of your loss. I know after my mom died, I kept seeing people everywhere that reminded me of her (same color hair, hairstyle...). I too looked for signs (I don't remember seeing any) but mostly just remember feeling a peace as though she was walking beside me when I was really sad.
How lucky you were to have seen things that made you feel he was ok. I believe your dad will keep looking after you and your family.

Peace and prayers to your and your family.
