8/17/2008 Double Dip 4-day Wonder

Hi everyone,

Literally just booked our flights. Continental from Newark to Orlando. Flying down on the day before.

Cost us about $288 roundtrip for each person. DCL was going to charge us $1,600 for the four of us so we're saving some money. And its a direct flight.

Thanks Lynda Silk for the info about limo services. Maybe I'll post this question to the DIS boards and see what people are saying based on recent experience.

Anyone book for 2009? We did. We were sorely tempted by the Tortola cruises but we went with the August 22nd western cruise. We want to visit Cozumel again then be ready for something new.

Glad you bumped the thread up. Still haven't booked our flights. I have always been a huge Southwest fan, but not so sure about these new rules. I guess we can just wait and see.

2 weeks til Christmas!!:santa:

I can;t beleive how time is flying by.

Oh - any U.S. folks who still need passports - just an FYI - We applied for ours, and got all 4 of them within 2 weeks!! I couldn;t beleive it - I guess they really did hire some people.

Wow I found the thread! Me and my boyfriend will be on the cruise too. It will be our first Disney Cruise. Before the cruise we"ll spend one week at WDW.
17 pages is a lot to browse so that will be for later. Hope to get to know some nice people here.

Willem -

I was just going to post you a link - but I see you found us!! Yes - we have been posting on this thread for a while now. Now you have some light reading to do in catching up!

Hi Willem,

Glad you found us. Many of us had an extremely busy fall and hopefully this thread will be more active now.

We are very excited about this cruise. I am thoroughly committed to making at least one late night adult club party - like the 80s night or something like that (even if I'm asleep on the table). I am determined not to poop out at 10pm like I've done on all my previous cruises.

That's what is so great about two stops to Castaway Cay....relax, relax and relax.

FYI....I am planning to have two surgeries on my left foot in April. Repair the damage to the broken toe from last summer and a sprained ankle from a year ago.

So by August I will be ready to dance the night away!!!!

Ski and Sea - I am so there with you! I am promising myself at least one night out!! We were so pooped everynight that we fell asleep and never even made it to Diversions except for games with the kids one day. I am going to make it to one night out at least this time!!!:cool1:

I'm so glad to have company. What killed me on my last cruise was four brutally hot days at WDW so that by the time we got on the ship I was shot, spent and dehydrated.

Will not have that problem this time!!!!

Ski-and-Sea & disnutz, count me in too! I never make it past 10 pm either and I would love to get to the 80's night or at least one evening event. I think it's the sea air combined with all the excitement, WDW visits and all the other activities on and off the ship. The last time we were on a Disney Cruise, I actually fell asleep while sitting by the pool watching my DD swim in the Goofy pool...I guess I wasn't a very good chaperone!

Willem, welcome to the thread! Sounds like you're in for a real treat since this is your first Disney Cruise! And you will definitely get to know some nice people because everyone on this thread so far has been very nice.

Is everyone ready for Christmas???? We cut down our tree on Saturday and then I decorated it while my kids were visiting their dad. I was glad we got the tree then because then we had a big snowstorm. Boy, the beach at Castaway Cay sure looked good to me while I was shovelling the driveway for what seemed to be the millionth time that weekend!

Just booked my DSis and her twins and DBIL, so there will now be 14 of us in total. Should make for a very nice trip with our extended DIS family. Still have my kids in the dark...LOL....Loving it! Can't wait to drop them off at the door and have see them enter the doors....

How to keep a 23 y/o, 17 y/o and 13 y/o from knowing they are going on a cruise that was booked over a year away? WORK LOTS OF HOURS SO YOU ARE NOT AT HOME. :lmao:

I have begun working on our special t-shirts...I will post a link to my website for you all to see when it is completed.

It was kind of fun booking my DSis cruise the other night in the middle of a snow storm. :rotfl:

Coach Rick, that's amazing that your kids still don't know! You must be a master at keeping secrets, but I'll admit that your strategy of working lots of hours is a good one!

Wasn't that an incredible snowstorm? My friends were driving back from NYC and it took them 13 hours to get home (usually takes 8 hours I think). They said that they lost count of the number of trucks/cars in the ditch. That cruise in August sure looks good at this time of the year; it must have been so cool (no pun intended) to be booking the cruise for your sister's family while the snow was coming down so fast!

Looking forward to seeing your t shirts!

Just flew SW for our Thanksgiving trip under the new system. All I can say is, what took them so long! I found it to be way more flyer friendly than the old cattle-call system. Only thing is, it's not as cheap as it used to be, but then nothing is with the price of oil these days. From RI there are very few choices that are reasonable ones, so I will wait, plus I have two free round trips coming to me, and about $300 in credits for re booking to a lower rate from Thanksgiving. Gotta love the SWA credit card....by the time Christmas is over I should have another free flight....:lmao:

There is no way I could ever keep a cruise a secret from my family for this long. It would just kill me. I would have no control - the message would just force its way out of me.

I couldn't even wait a single day to tell my kids about the cruise we've booked for 2009.

I wish we had snow from that storm on Sunday. Instead we've got a couple of inches of solid ice. In fact, my kids were playing on it on the front lawn this afternoon and could literally not make it up the small hill to get to the front door.

And now the garbage man won't drive down our part of the street to pick up the trash because of the ice on the road.

On the plus side.....its white outside so hopefully it will stick around another week and we can say we had a white Christmas.

Finished my Christmas shopping today. Just need to wrap everything. We were supposed to get our Christmas tree on Sunday but the weather was too nasty.

Instead we saw the Alvin and the Chipmunks movie - very cute.

Yes, those hot August days at Castaway Cay seem a very long way away.

Can't wait to see the t-shirts.

Here in Belgium it's getting very cold aswell. It's freezing when I'm waiting for the train in every morning. The thoughts of being on a Disney beach this summer make me feel lots better!
Everything is ready for Christmas and New Years day here. January 2nd we'll leave for a short week (5 days) at Disneyland Resort Paris. Gonna try our own Tower of Terror that will be open by then. And there will be a private screening of Enchanted for annual passportholders at the Walt Disney Studios so that should be nice aswell.

We LOVED Enchanted. Absolutely wonderful. Myself, DD and DS were the only ones in the theater for that showing (right after school) and we were just howling with laughter.

You know a movie is good when no one wants to leave in the middle to get more popcorn.
