News at 11....

I am still really curious to know which station you DJ'd for DisneyVegas, and what your DJ name was? Have you always lived there?

Pretty much hockey all the time. We live in Columbus and hence the CBJ. We were season ticket holders until this year but it was just too many games and we missed many to keep with with the kid's schedules. Cheaper to buy tickets to games as we go. Tickets are still pretty easy to come by. My wife and I are originally from the Toledo-area but now live in Columbus.

Both my kids play hockey, I coach hockey and don't get to play nearly enough. My son is a first year peewee (95) and actually plays in Cincinnati. I am one of the assistant coaches for his team. This year he is playing in a league which is generally Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky. He is a goalie. My daughter is a second year mite (98) and plays on a house team in the Columbus area. She generally plays D. Her coaches shuffled things up this past weekend and she moved up to LW--scored her first goal of the season :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: (Not too many shots getting blasted from the point in mite house!!) With three practices per week plus anywhere from 3-5 games per weekend it's tough to get the smell of the zamboni off me this time of year!! (I remember someone mentioning earlier that pirates are supposed to smell--ditto's for hockey bags. The funk is just part of the "fun.)

Maybe if we get enough hockey talk going on the DIS board the new ship could have an ice rink. :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: Just one more thing to pack!!

Oh - I know the hockey bag funk well!

We have a 2nd year Mini Mite (2000) & a 2nd year Mite (98). I coach mini mites & DH helps with the mites. We all play D - DH is a recovering goalie. I've scored 2x so far this year, once from the point and one coast to coast break out. I'm a reformed figure skater, so I can be pretty fast - I just don't always take the puck with me!!! My stick handling skills leave a lot to be desired. I can't wait for the kids to be old enough to leave home alone so DH & I can play on the same team (hard to find a babysitter at 11 pm on a Wednesday!). We play in different leagues right now so the schedule works.

DH & I both grew up in suburban Cleveland.

Actually ... I'm not a research scientist - but in a manner of speaking I do deal with numbers... I'm am a Wholesaler in Financial Services ... otherwise known as an Independent Marketing Organization - IMO - for insurance distribution between the company and brokers, agents and mid size agencies) - been so for 18 years - and my D.S. is a Pharmaceutical Oncology Representative specializing in (in descending significance) Breast, Lung then Prostate. She's been a drug dealer for about 19 years. And in the last few years I've slowed down considerably with the arrival of our children and changes in the business environment. In the days post 9-11 I was still flying on my 60% pace for being away from home and it was starkly obvious that after the WTC incident NO ONE WAS TRAVELING. Obviously, my competition was staying home - so with the new daughter I decided I would reorganize to work from home. Now I have a shift in priorities and a new routine. It is less effective - but we have undergone paradigm shifts where family (meaning children, parents and the family centered things) as well as individual wellness and health have risen to new levels of emphasis.

So - I am effectivly a part-time owner/operator of an IMO dealing with Insurance products to the trade.... and otherwise a SAHD... and a Soccor Dad, and a Karate Dad, and a Swim Team Dad, and a Gymnastics Dad, some-times Family Travel Agent (uncompensated - unless you consider the ocassional scolding to be pay<back>)and a chauffeur for my dear spouse from time to time. Oh yeah ... I do dishes and cook... but am a bum with a vaccume cleaner and one to fear with laundry. My spouse will not let me near her laundry after that unfortunate incident where I mixed all the clothes together to create a nice uniform tye dye effect WITH those cute little specks of detergent all over everything. I don't get it. :confused3 So - I'm basically a glorified taxi driver and we sort of share bacon runs to the market.

So - remember - you supply the quarters and I'll volunteer to do your laundry on the Magic - just you'll have to sign the "hold harmless" waiver first... <chuckles>! See what a nice guy I am?

Aside from that... I might add that my SPOUSE is indeed capable of being the official family mathamatician! As she used to be that despised student in all your science and math classes who threw the curves. Yup.... when honest, hard working chums like myself and possibly yourself were sweating to get 20s or 22s in organic chemistry or higher order math exams - my sweet spouse was scoring 95-99%. She was on her high school "Math-alete" team... and always got better grades then me in school. You see - we've been together 22+ years (which will set us up for my question proposal below in RED)... and we've been beat of pals since our school days .... and nope... not PRE-school... rather college. She was my only "serious" girl-friend in college. I keep trying to tell her that all the others were just "friends". All I get from her are glares and that sticky silence when I say things like that? :confused3

So - for those who are so inclined...

... assuming a significant other is in the equation... how did you meet? Any stories to embelish? A significant other can also be a favorite pet or major all enveloping hobby or pursuit too. Use your imagination and exercise responses on one or all of these things with what seems like the most fun to you - I'll throw mine in after I've caught up some on the over nite posts. The morning crew must be slackin' off as there are just a few pages to contend with. I sense that if the posting pace does not pick up then I'll have to post another "encouraging" image to flog some typing speed out of the present crew! pirate:

WOW

I've gotta run and take care of some DCL posctards that HAVE to get out in Wednesday's mail. Will check back later when I am finished.

Sounds like me and my DH
DH is an otorhinolaryngologist (ENT doc)
I am a SAHM but my career is ER nurse. Thats why I said I hope we don't need my career. We do travel with every kind of suture, glue, med, and inhaler known to mankind though.

OKAY Crash---I'll go first!!!!!We met when DH was in med school and I was working in OB at the time and he would stay and talk to me into the evening and have dinner with me. (That was if I got dinner). We have been married 15 years. We met in TX which is where I am from and moved back to Michigan which is where DH is from for residency for 5 years and now we are here in Orlando. Been here 13 years.

Good to know in case me bumps me head after all the rum ....sew me up doc .

Truly amazing.

I absolutely LOVE Tia Dalma. I am so glad she'll be back in the next movie.

I'm having a hard time figuring out what to do for pirate night. I want an awesome costume, but my first chance to wear it will be on the Med cruise and with the luggage weight restrictions, I don't think an elaborate wench dress will work out to well.

If you need Help with Tia Dalma ..I can help ...just send me a message ....and do like I do ...I have to take one whole suitcase just for all my Jack Sparrow stuff ....But always well worth it ..

I read DIS pages as soon as I get up...
I read DIS pages as soon as I get back from teaching Jazzercise
I read DIS pages as soon as I have showered & dressed
I reward myself by reading DIS pages after vacuuming the house
I reward myself by reading DIS pages after doing/folding laundry
I run the brownies over to DS's school for his "tasty Tuesday" treat and run home to read DIS pages for the 25 minutes before I have to go BACK to the school to pick up both kids...

and yes, I will likely read DIS pages once we all ge home again...

It seems to be the only way to keep up with this thread!:lmao:
Let alone the other forums...:surfweb:

Is there a cure? I see no end in site. I fully intend to rebook aboard the repo for the rumored Alaskan cruise (2010?)! My DH can't believe there are others out there as DISney crazy as me... I told him I think there are many who have it even worse!:hyper: And you know who you are...
I have 10 more minutes....;)

Love this ...have to show my DW ...she is going to die ..LOL

pirate:

Not that I'm competitive at all . . .:rolleyes1
But did anyone else notice that the other repo thread (FL-CA) has 327 posts?

Let's see that's . . .
uuhhh . . . carry the two . . . ummm...well... a lot less than us!

Wow?

Wow to what? That I get "sticky glares" ... or that I can't EVER remember whether I've been married 12 or 13 years... let alone the month and day - even though her Dad thoughtfully had custom made wedding favors made of tiny Thai Porcelin bottles which all had our anniversery date on 'em?
And in thoery, all I had to do to figure out WHEN I was married was to call one of our wedding guests who had one of those things still around? <chuckles>

I know... some folks who may not have posted a remark are probably thinking - boy do I tend to write the LONG version of everything.

Well... I gotta run now - all my fun for the afternoon is done now - and I have some chores to run now.

Cheers.... til after the kids come home, get fed, bathed and dressed for the evening. Well... in between now and then I might be refreshing the last page to see if I might happen upon another century marker to swipe....

Remember....

TAKE WHAT YOU CAN!!!!
