Lil' Grumpy - I read your post about the birth of your child shaking my head. :grouphug: When I went in to have DS I was induced because he was past due. I told the nurse that I only wanted DH, the doctor, & her in the room when DS was born. This was an intimate moment for us & I did not want to be a guinie pig.

Here Here!!!! Mine too!!!

When I make just slightly less than DH for sitting on my duff all day in an office. It really shows how underpaid they really are.

And he lost all his night diff when he switched to days. I was tired of being home by myself with the kids everynight, orginally he went 4x12 when they were small, he took care of them during the day, we had a sitter for a couple hours till I got home, but once they were in school full time he had his days free. I might not have minded him staying 4x12 if he did something during the day. But when I would come home from work and have to do EVERYTHING!!!! I took a year but this past Aug he went to days. It has made my life much easier.

Now we will be making up what he lost in night diff. Effective Monday he is transferring to SI from Brooklyn. He wont be paying the toll on the Verranzano Bridge anymore. That will save $100 bucks a month. And since he will be able to take the train to work now, we will be saving $$$$ on gas also.

Pete has been on days for 8 or 9 years now. When we first met he was working days but the following year went to midnights (they have a policy here that if you are employed with the dept. 30 months or less, they assign you a shift every year). He was on mid's until 96 - Joe was born in 95 and he took care of him during the day, they each took naps and then when I got home from work he went to sleep again until it was time to get ready - we only live 4 blocks from headquarters so it only takes him a few minutes to get there. Anyway, after the first six months or so Joe wasn't sleeping enough for Pete to get enough rest so the following year he went to 4-12 which worked out much better.

Pete also works a ton of O/T throughout the year - averaging about 1 1/2 shifts every week which does help out but means that we see that much less of each other. Right now every time it becomes available he takes and it and says X$ more for our vacation.

i'm sorry to have lectured,
but my god..there are dangerous people who don't give a D.! no
way ! should government of any kind being doing this...it is alarming
to me cos of the disasters it can create. :sad2:

I think that you said it quite well. I personally think that there are many more things that the government should be focusing on correcting before invading my parental rights by ordering that DD be given this vacine at the age of 10.

Another "baby" here! # brothers and one sister. Is this another trend here?:rotfl:
Not here. I'm the oldest. Can you tell? :)

Last weekend I found a tour company that offers a package deal for transportation only. One price will get you four days for round trip bus service from your hotel to the various attractions. It also inlculdes round trip transportation from the two of the airports. Of course I'm planning to fly into an airport that isn't included.
Do you mind sharing info about the transportation you found? I'm interested!

Have a great time tonight BIP. We saw the Cirque show at WDW a couple of years ago. My hands actually hurt when we left from clapping so much.

And I am sure Ruby will do a great job for you.

Thanks for the reassurance. I hope you are right! LOL

Andrew how are your DD & DW?

Paula how is your DH?

Shelley how is your DH?

Hope I didn't miss anyone........

If I did then how is your ______?
My DH is doing much better. Thanks for asking! He still has some pain and is almost done with his medrol dosage pack... but it is much better and he says it only really hurts at the end of the day. :)

Well Good afternoon everyone ...I know I havent been around much cause the MIL has been in town and they left for Frisco yesterday , and Today I got the News that my real Father past away ...We were never really close but I knew him in my teens and early 20's ...I hadnt spoke to him in 14 years cause we had a fallen out ...I wont be around much over the Next week , I am flying up to Buffalo for the service on Monday , hopefully I will be back tuesday or Wednesday. I need to go back for myself for closure , I'm not going back for him or relatives as I have not really talked to anyone in that time as well ....I have mixed feelings , but I think I have to say goodbye for myself ...Melissa or the kids never knew him ....If I sound like I am rambling im sorry , I have had a world of emotions over the last few hours , but I knew I could come here and at least escape it for a moment ....Thanks For listening ...

pirate:
I'm so sorry for your loss.
I kinda understand where you're coming from... we rarely had our father in our lives as children (our parents married/divorced three times, mostly divorced) and the few times I've seen him in the past 17+ years I might as well have not seen him at all!

Well I gotta run. Just had a few moments to try to catch up, but lots more to do and only a few hours to do it!

I thought about you when I mentioned skating - from what I've read you are a pro - while I love in-line skating - I only do well while it's level and I don't have to stop quickly! But - having said that - it is one of my favorite recreational activites. I just glide along and let my stress float AWAY!! Also, its a time when I can let my mind flow freely and I problem solve and the creative juices flow. You know what I mean?
If you have time in 8/08 - come & skate w/me on the strand!!!!
Chris

I bought a pair of inline skates when they were 75% off years ago but I have never tried them out. I guess that I am gunshy. I use to rollerskate as a kid, then discovered ice skating & loved it. I couldn't do the clunky wheels anymore.

:flower2: , please accept my consolations. it is my belief that
the stressors of life can tear away family members, but we
never forget them.

i wish i had better comfort measures..but i still missed my dad,
even though we had our share of "trying" times. after our
mother death, our family disseminated...just recently some of
us are begining to pull us back together...alot of the things
i share here are from my parents. hope the good memories
serve as a comfort...you're special person & a good pirate: !

* i just like to take this oportunity..that i have enjoyed all
your input...in making this a very fun place! thanks, cpt.!
[ i follow you in battle & for wenches' sakes!] :flower3:

Todd, I am so very sorry. Take care and safe travels!:grouphug:

We enjoy watching Cirque, but have not seen one of the live performances before. Well, we did see Imaginique at BG Wburg a few times & enjoyed it but that seemed to be a very scaled down version...though very good.

There was so much going on:-
  • Deck party for sailaway.
  • Boats at the front
  • CM's waving us off from the port.
  • We went to room as well had a tugg spinning in circles next to us.
  • Also there is a helipad next to the port, Copters were going off.
  • People waving from the shops.
You had to miss something, next time I plan to be at front and both sides at the same time to see more!!!

I am thinking that this is one deck party that we are going to miss. I would like to try to bring the tripod with us so that we can get some steady shots of the sailaway as well as lots of other opps during the cruise. Maybe I can find a travel sized one on special somewhere. The one we have is a bit heavy.

We're thinking about LegoLand, too.

That was on our list until I saw that the ticket prices were twice as much as we have paid for our WDW tickets per day. What the kids don't know wont be missed. :thumbsup2 We will do an extra day at DL instead. I doubt that they will complain.

And I forgot the most important thing Mickey and Minnie on the bridge as we went out I could film them on my camcorder from my stateroom.

Anyone considered doing this - or done it yet?

I don't that would be practical here on the East coast. We are in line for hurricanes & I can see that being destroyed easily with high winds &/or fallen limbs.

:grouphug: Take Care Todd, you will be in our thoughts. I went many years without seeing my birth father, but we did reconnect a few years before he passed in 2002. I trust you find the closure you need, I know it helped me. We didn't have a falling out, he was just never around much after my mom and he divorced when I was 2 years old. He remarried, had other kids, and didn't bother keeping in touch with my sister and I.

So sorry for your loss. Even though you weren't close, it's got to be hard to loose a parent. Prayers for your family.....

You are going to have so much fun! Just one thing, don't wear yourself out before the cruise. We need the Empress to lead this unruly group of pirates. We can't have you all tired out!! We'll be in big trouble!

LOL! I know! We usually just have a down day before the cruise at WDW but I can't just sit around some place I have never been before & wait to board the ship. ;)
