All this planning is making me nervous!

Exactly when do I make sure I can get the time off?? Not the best thing to ask during a job interview! I hope I can negotiate the same deal I have here (or better). I get 4 weeks PTO a year, BUT we have a blackout Aug-Nov.

BTW, can I get a volunteer to update my resume and job hunt for me while I DIS?

So far, our plan is to fly in Fri. night & go to DL Sat. It is going to be difficult to pick which park. DCA is great, but I'm a traditionalist. I don't feel like I've been to Disney if I haven't walked down Main Street. We always hit MK on our first and last day when we go to WDW.

Hey M, I am sure that there are plenty of great jobs for you in DC. Everyone needs a PR chick there! Especially with the mad skills I know you have! I think most potential employers would be understanding especially if you tell them right up front. They'll respect your integrity.

If you only have one day, I would definitely focus on DL, especially if you've never been there before. I love DCA, but DL is still my favorite. I still feel like a five year old everytime I walk through the tunnel and onto Main Street.

I HAVE to go get ready for work or i will be late. Not a good example for the boss to set. catch you guys later. Hope you all enjoy your afternoon and evening. It is saturday so we will be busy with lots of lottery. I am soooo glad the Powerball jackpot is not huge!

I thought about you when I mentioned skating - from what I've read you are a pro - while I love in-line skating - I only do well while it's level and I don't have to stop quickly! But - having said that - it is one of my favorite recreational activites. I just glide along and let my stress float AWAY!! Also, its a time when I can let my mind flow freely and I problem solve and the creative juices flow. You know what I mean?
If you have time in 8/08 - come & skate w/me on the strand!!!!
Chris

Chris--

Don't mean to butt in on your conversation, but I had to say I am SO looking forward to walking along the strand and showing my kids your very beautiful part of the world.

I have a dear friend from college who lives in Hermosa Beach. I was able to visit there pre-kids, and that trip stands out in my memory because of my daily walks on the the Strand and the very unique pace of life there. I felt like I could walk forever, but then I'd forget that I would have just as long of a walk back to my friend's place! After the first long walk back I realized I should always pack bus fare in my pocket in case I walked farther than I had planned. :)

So here I am talking to myself again.
Just finished my coffee, time to be productive. We have Blue & Gold Banquet today (Cub Scout thing). Yup, I'm the Tiger Cub leader. Nothing quite like 20 first grade boys in one place at one time. Unless you add another 50 boys (2-5th grade to the mix)

I'll be back tonight. Prolly with a jug of wine . . .

Have fun at the B&G. Ours is not until April. We actually got a break from scouts this weekend, since schools are closed = no scouts. I have just been roped into being Pack treasurer. OH jOY! Dh is den leader to the wolves and my other one is a Tiger so I split my time between helping him and handling all the money stuff..dues trips etc......

Our pack meets together every Friday. We have over 60+ kids in the pack....all in the school gym.........lets just say things can get quite crazy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In 2012 as well as opening the Olympics the Doctor took a vacation on the Disney Dreams cruise ship in a CAT A room ( new types) and cruised from the new Disney terminal at San Pedro via Mexican Cay to Disneyland Tokyo.

I miss those Cub Scout days! I was a leader when my DS was a Wolf and Bear Cub. It was a lot of work, but now I cherish those memories. Now he's taller than me and about to be a teen. It just goes so fast!

Do you believe in time outs???? Do they work??? I used a light tap on the hand or bottom when the children were little. I wish someone would give me a time out now.

I believe in the concept of time outs...sometimes I take one up in my room. ;) DS will go to his room on his own to get away & let it out so that he can calm down. DD isn't so hot on that idea so we usually confine her to the chair or couch while holding her until she relaxes and calms down. I have smacked them before...though I don't like to. That is a tough area for me since I was abused as a child. My parents continue to deny it but I still have friends from those days who remember me coming to school with a black eye after I made a comment about my haircut. I believe that you learn how to raise your kids from your parents...so I am constantly working on learning better techniques to discipline and teach my children. It may appear that I am too easy on them to some, but I know the line that I cannot cross. I am always told by teachers & others how well behaved they are...so I must be doing something right. I wish that they would practice that behavior when they are with me more often but someone once told me that their behavior around other adults when you are around is what speaks the most for how you are raising them. :goodvibes

I just trained him the way I wanted since we met at 16.:cool1: I am sure glad DH does not read this thread.
Me: 07-30-46 John 10-20-46

Of course let us keep this a secret.:rolleyes1

LOL! OK...we wont tell. ;) I am older than DH by 11 months.

Hi everyone. Oh my gosh am I glad to finally be home! What a day I had at work. I'm the Public Relations Director for a large health care organization and we had a major scare late this afternoon. One of our employees opened an envelope with a white, powdery substance inside. Everyone in the area was removed and isolated for possible decontamination procedures. We had police, fire and hazmat all on the scene. The area was sealed off until hazmat could come in and test for any possible biohazard. Thankfully the tests were all negative and everyone involved was cleared.

Since I am in charge of media relations, I have to remain on scene to handle any media that call or show up. I had to go into emergency mode and prepare for a potential onslaught if the news got out or if it turned out to be something serious. Fortunately it was resolved quietly and without much delay so I am happy to say I won't be on the news at 11 tonight. But it was very stressful nonetheless and I am glad that it didn't turn into a huge story. Mostly I'm glad that everyone involved is fine and there is no threat to their health.

I'm going to go take a hot shower, slip into my jammies and have a glass of wine! TGIF!

Thank goodness everything ended up being OK! :grouphug:

:teeth: I must have just read this four times.... you mean O'BWV ? Our DIS person? I'm still trying to figure out her name....:goodvibes

MR posted why she chose her name this past week. The O'B is for her name and the BWV is for their DVC property. :thumbsup2

But there is so much you will get to have again .. Like Kraft Dinner (I don't believe they have that in the States) and Caramilk Chocolate Bars, Aero Bars, and Poutine of course. :rotfl: Most Chapters have a Starbucks in the store, so you caN buy a book and sip your coffee and enjoy! I got hooked on Starbucks at Chapters.

We have never been to that part of Canada but DH & I took 10 days to explore Nova Scotia & New Brunswick 3 months after we met. I figured if we could get along that well...we were meant to be. ;) We flew to Boston, rented a car & took the ferry over at Lunenburg, drove up to Cape Brenton, drove down to St. John's near the echo caves, then home again thru Boston. It was beautiful!!!

I need to sit down & work on that. :( We finally got the last piece of paperwork I needed. The tax returns are a worse kid magnet than the phone.

You're waaaayyyy behind. Our Tax refund was just deposited into the checking account yesterday. And it just flew back out again today! :sad2:
Had to pay off the Credit Card bills (including my Repo deposit) the rest will be set aside.

the kids are really missing Smarties and I'm missing my Zesty cheese Doritos. :sad2:

We were able to try Smarties on our last cruise thanks to a Canadian friend. The kids don't like our Smarties anymore. :lmao:

Gotta say good night folks. Gotta be chipper tomorrow for our EARLY pinewood derby. Both DS10 & DS12 won 1st place in their class at our church derby. . .now let's see how they do against the big boys at sectional . . .should be a blast! I'll report back tomorrow . . :cool1::cool1:

GOOD LUCK!!!!
