Had a lot of running around to do today, and in between was on the couch with my eyes shut. Been having some major headaches lately. Have to wait until next Friday to see the eye doc. :3dglasses I am a weirdo who's first indication of the need for new glasses is a bad headache.:headache:

We're flying in 2-3 days before to see my folks who live in SoCal...well that's the plan. Now that dad is retired for the 2nd time, they have plans to move to FL--though neither one really wants to move farther away from the grandbaby

However, we are going to stay at a hotel near the port (I see there are some negotiated rates for a couple of places on Page 1. I think the gov't rate may be better but I'll have to check). We'll have a rental car. I just checked and the Crowne Plaza (which used to be a Sheraton as shown on my GPS/mapping system) has an Enterprise desk inside the hotel! I'm not fond of Enterprise BUT their lot is between the hotel and World Cruise Center terminal so we may look into it. The hotel said they will bring the car over so maybe we could just leave it there and take the shuttle to the terminal?

The other major rental locations (Hertz, Advantage etc) all seem to be 6-10 miles away in Lomita, Cypress or Long Beach.

I think the Crowne Plaza (yes, it was the Sheraton) also has an airport shuttle and shuttle to the port. I think that's where the Moms and I will be staying....if we can get a room.

Sorry about your headache but boy can I relate. I had a nasty one for most of the day. Good thing my boss was off today. I took a one hour nap on his couch..lol

Hello to All !!!

Mark

Good evening Mark. I believe you are the guilty one:rotfl2: of planning the pre-cruise meet???? Do we know which is a preferred hotel of DCL. I bought transfers(suject to change) and hate to carry all of my suitcases. I had hoped when I take luggage to airport on Friday or Saturday, it will all magically appear on the ship???:wizard: Would it work this wasy???:confused3

You are so lucky! I have a wheaten terrier and his name is Beasley a/k/a "Beastley". Well, his name says it all. I have nobody who can take care of him for me. It isn't that he is a disobedient dog he is just high energy and about 45lbs of power. He's been known to knock down whatever is not bolted down.

Is a Manx a long haired cat? I'll have to google her. :)

Edited to add:

When we go away, we have a dog sitter come twice a day to take him out and play with him. Most days, my tenant will let him run around our yard for a bit.
Mary

Yes ,she's a long hair. Manx cats are a type of mutation actually. They have no tails. Some may have a bit of a tail, Kiki barely has a nub.
She adopted us. She showed up in our back yard about 6 years ago. Tiny little thing. I kept feeding her, on the sly. DH kept telling me to stop it, I just couldn't. She had 2 litters that I wasn't able to get close to and then the next 2 that she had I was able to handle cuz she had them on our front porch. With every litter that she had, there was always one kitten that was without a tail and always a female. We finally had her fixed so she'd stop populating the neighborhood. When my Siamese of 17 yrs. passed away,we brought Kiki inside. She's made herself quite at home. She's a Mama's Girl.

Do you know the rates???? I bought DCL transfers but can change them. I am just looking for an easy way to NOT handle all my luggage.

If the hotel would do that, it would really simplify things:goodvibes

I believe I saw the group rate was either $135 or $139. Its listed on page 1. The rate was the same for 2 hotels, the Double Tree and the Crown Plaza

no no no....the hotel doesn't handle the car, Enterprise does it. You know, just like in their commercials, "We'll pick you up." The clerk said you call from the desk (or maybe even your room) and they (Enterprise) will bring the car down to the hotel.

Aaaww, your a sweatheart. She is one lucky kitty. I did google her and she is quite beautiful. I think i would have to get used to the absence of a tail. The one I googled was white with two different color eyes. Really pretty.

A couple of years ago, in the midst of snowstorm I saw a kitten in an alley near my Mom's house. I felt really bad for it but knew how my husband feels about more pets. We already had Beasley. Well, I left the kitten there and went home - about 20 minutes away. I couldn't get my mind off that kitten. Next day was freezing again. Finally, I took my then 7 year old DD and went back to where I saw the kitten. We couldn't find her and started canvassing the neighborhood looking and calling. Wouldn't you know it, whe came out from b/w two houses. Poor thing!! She was frozen, full of fleas, a bag of bones. It took her about 2 months to recover. The vet didn't think she was going to make it but she did and is now one fat cat!

They book only a year in advance, but the advance purchase rate is the cheapest. It's $127 for a room with two double beds, up to $189 for a King Suite corner room.
And...their shuttle will take us to Costco!

Hi Everybody!

Wow - what a long week... I think I'm about 400 pages behind. I've read the summaries and have had 20 minutes here and there to skim, but basically I last read somewhere around the 27000 post!

As others have said - I'm nosey and like to read it all ... but this may be impossible!

I was really busy at work this week and DH has had a bad cold so I had less time in the evenings. Yesterday evening was Garden Club and this evening my neighbor asked me to go to a Pampered Chef party with her.

Hopefully, I can get "caught up" (skim a bit!) tomorrow and get back into whatever all the conversations are about!:thumbsup2

Right now, I'm going to go collapse into my bed...

pdarrah (Pamela)

That is because you did things only YOU notice. But I am sure that it made you feel great knowing it was done!

It also helps DH & DS's allergies getting rid of all that dust so I will do it even though they don't know that I do. ;)

Pretty quiet around her actually.

I actually had reads a lot of your posts.
First, we are going to be married 40 years come 2008. Maybe we will get a medal for being the oldest married couple on board.

I have never received an post card much less an e-mail from DCL. I must have made the L for loser list!!!:thumbsup2

I am not sure if we are going to DL before cruise either. I do have 18 months to prepare but I always plan ahead.

Yes Maa'm.........I be the guilty one...........All of the Disney Hotels are not booking this far in advance. Several of the folks here have booked with the major chains such as Sheraton, Marriot.....etc.......

We are planning on staying AT DL........being DVC members. Transfers with DCL are straight forward if you fly in the day of the cruise. If you come in early..check with DCL for arrangements.

More to follow regarding the Pre Meet at DisneyLand.
