My DS has had speech therapy since Kindergarten. He is now in 4th grade & doing much better, but he still has a bit of a problem with the ch & j sounds. The doctor seems to think that by the time he is a teenager, even those sounds will be corrected. Hope everything works out for your DD!

Jared didn't talk when he was little. He did plenty of screaming. He'd see a bunny in the back yard and want us to see it too, so he'd scream. Got me every time....I'd go running thinking he was being murdered!

I kept telling the doc that I thought something was wrong, and he kept giving me excuses like "he's a boy, they're slower" and "maybe the girls are talking for him". He finally got tired of me bugging him, and sent us for tests.
Apparently, Jared's multiple ear infections as a baby caused his speech patterns to not develop normally. He had two years of private speech therapy and then went to the Developmental Preschool. By the time he was ready to start Kindergarten, his speech was perfect.

Now we sometimes regret paying to make him talk. He talks constantly!
Can we pay someone to make him stop??

I'll make him stop......how much?

I have to say there is one really bad thing about a crockpot and it is smelling the food all day long

make it 2 bad things about a crockpot----the bear fur gets stuck to the inside and is hard to scrub off......

Well I'm gonna make DW happy...I called the Y and they are offering adult swim lessons...looks like we'll make it a family membership. That way she can go in for her fitness sessions and use their Child Watch so that DS "The Destroyer" will have a place to hang out



LOL I posted those ...oddly enough, I do not wear them. They were okay but I kinda like the Savane pants I can get at Sam's as well as Ralph. Problem is certain pants are made for guys with no, ahem,

add (as the Captain would say ), and well, they don't fit me properly. Haggar is one of those kinds of pants.

I cannot figure out my water bill. They were saying on the news that the city is going to start gouging people who are "heavy users". Well, as I look at my bill today, I am pretty close. I REALLY do not get this. There are 4 of us. DH and I shower daily (less if we do it at the health club), DD's just every other day. I run the dishwasher every other day. I have a set up Neptune washer whish is supposed to be a low water user. Obviously not watering in the winter. We do have a fountain outside but I buy bottled distilled water for it.
It says we use anout 25,000 gallons a month. Does this sound correct?
No leaks, running toilets, etc either.

Doesn't sound correct to me, but like you- we are also having water bills/usage that I just can't believe we're really using that much! Especially on our 2nd account that is only for the water sprinklers- I turned it off since we had freezing/snow/ice the previous month and it only went off ONCE early in this billing cycle, none after that- yet it said we used quite a bit and gave us a $40 bill? (water only- that account doesn't add for septic, garbage, etc. hence the reason for a 2nd sprinkler acct)

Got quiet all of the sudden. I guess it's dinnertime on the east coast.

dinner time here in Texas too- but that's only because we're about to have to rush to bball practice and stuff- it's either eat now or eat at 8:30pm when it's their bedtime!

I would say 25,000 gallons per quarter would be more like it, not 25,000 gallons per month, during this time of year.

Keep in mind since I am the water meter reader for our township, I am also known in our home as the WATER POLICE!!! The three of us used 16,000 of water during the past quarter, I know becuase I just read our meter yesterday. I would say for the average family of four in our township, the water consumption is between 20,000 to 25,000 gallons. You might want to check into having your water meter tested, we do in here when requested, but there is a charge for it, I want to say $25.00, but I'm not sure if the price has gone up for that. We run 100 gallons through the test, if the meter registers within 3 gallons either way, the meter is classified as in good working order, if not, then the meter is replaced.

How often would you say it needs to be checked if you think it might not be accurate? Would you say that it could need to be checked when it's only 6yrs old? (home/development is only 6yrs old) Let me know because this might be something we look into- both our water bills were higher than I think they should be, since we moved here in Nov, and especially as I mentioned above- the sprinkler account there is no WAY we used that much water for one 10min sprinkler cycle the entire billing period!

I'm a little on "edge" right now. Not too bad... but a little. Ruby is at her first track meet tonight- they leave with the school and return with the school. We have bball and cheer practice -so we couldn't go watch. And WHAT pray tell do they decide she's best at? Why 300 HURDLES ofcourse. Same kid who has fallen down the stairs at school I don't know how many times (and hurt her ankle- first time for her to be in a school that has stairs), has fallen and hurt her ankle and/or skinned knees and elbows and hands (and one time face) up just from running on the track for running team which is not even a race! it's just running to build up endurance for the 5k/1mi/5mi races she ran the past 2yrs on the running team. And she's going to be doing hurdles!
On the one hand I'm not surprised- she can jump really high (like to do hurkies hurkeys? however you spell it, and other jumps) but I can't say I'm HAPPY about it. I just know she's going to take some spills. So wish her luck, and I'll let you know if she comes home later uninjured. LOL
