Well Crash, in addition to running our Taekwondo schools, DH is also a commercial lobster fisherman. Unfortunately the season is coming to a close and he just pulled his traps in or I'm sure he would have been happy to help, although I must say that CA lobster don't get nearly that big. I think flowers would be really nice. You are very sweet!

Which part of CA are you folks in? Do you suppose I might buy a bunch of lobsters or.... dungeness crab someday... maybe? We have thrown dinner parties for our bible study group and that has been a couple dozen adults to serve. ???:confused3

....who made that edict?
We can't sort of skip to one if it's just ... there???

Here? Or in 9th grade?

Actually minis were reauthorized in the spring of 9th grade, but only after all the girls attended an assembly covering to topic of how to sit in a skirt.

You're too kind ... and I may be sweet... but I am also frugal. I was not volunteering to buy any diamonds or gold jewelry. Costco is my pal when it comes to flowers.... and the Chinese markets always have some live seafood (lobsters or crabs) at an affordable rate in the Valley or downtown.

We're just a short drive away from you. We live near Channel Islands Harbor in Oxnard.

Sadly as my niece found out they fall out.
Oh no! Bummer. I'm not going to get her any then.

Actually I just cracked a chest 2 days ago and he lived. Cardiac tamponade.

BP 60 chest closed, BP 120/80 chest opened
For real?
Okay well with all the dr's on the cruise and specifically you playing rugby, I guess that's a good thing. In case Jeff needs medical care because of playing rugby. :rotfl:

:grouphug: Sending more that everything works out.:grouphug:

Thanks, I appreciate that!

How do croc sizes run??? Do you order a size bigger or smaller for the kids?
For my husband and myself we went with a slightly smaller size- like half a size smaller. you're not supposed to wear them loose. However, for the kids we went with exactly their size and it gave them a little room to grow. Again they weren't supposed to be loose, but I wasn't about to buy them and have them outgrow them before we even went on the cruise! Especially because we sure didn't get them as cheap as $13.99 each, not even close!

Rugby in pajamas, wearing crocs, carrying cordless blenders. :rotfl2:
:lmao:

WOW! I didn't even think about that! It is going to affect computers big time. :sad2:
Will it affect home computers? or maybe we can just set it to not automatically adjust daylight savings time?

Just be sure to wear your prettiest brassier.

Good evening everyone. What'd I miss since pg. 1910?
I'll be around - probably all night. DH is gone for a few weeks and I never sleep the first night he's gone.

I sympathize. When my DH was fishing more than he does now, sometimes he would be gone for several nights in a row, and I just hated it. I never slept as soundly when he was gone.

Well...

... is that not CONVENIENT! Maybe ther would be some potential someday, eh? Unless there is some kind of restriction against an average Joe like me cutting into his catch for a couple dozen?

Does he sell to markets and wholesalers? Or just retail at channel islands harbor? And, I assume he is a year round commecial fisherman? We like spider crabs too... even though I've actually broken hammers getting at the meat on those!

I know EXACTLY what ya mean here... as this is probably the longest occasion where my posue and I have been apart since the 1st child was born (6 years)... 6 nites.

He primarily sells to wholesalers, but he can also sell to individuals. Because of the seasonal restrictions place on him by the State of CA, unfortunately he is not a full time fisherman anymore which is why we are now also in the Martial Arts business. Lobster season is just ending, but he will be fishing for crab and sheephead soon. He does catch a lot of big spider crabs, so we will definitely keep you posted when he is fishing for them.

I'm fine after the first night. What really sucked was when he had a job where he stood 24 hour duty about once every 2 weeks. He was 9 miles from our house, gone for one night, and & I still couldn't sleep. The first night sucks, even if it is the only night! There's something I don't like about going to bed alone.

Not much in the way of lobsters up here, but DH has spent his fair share of time on crabbers and the like out in the Bering Sea.

MMMmmmmm lobster. I like lobster.

Isn't that funny, my DH loves King Crab. He really loves watching "Deadliest Catch". Although we don't get the conditions here that they deal with in the Bering Sea, commercial fishing is sort of a fraternity and he sympathizes with what they go through. There definitely is a unique call to the sea that people like your DH and my DH have. He is really looking forward to meeting him. He has lots of Coast Guard buddies here locally.

20 years ago I used to throw parties with all kinds of different sea food (different crabs and lobster... plus prime rib)... when I was single, that is.

I would definately be interested in running down to pickup stuff from time to time. However, we usually schedule our dinner parties pretty far in advance. IE, 3 or 6 week advance warning... at a minimum. On a short term (same or next day basis) I would likely just use 1-3 spiders at a time... depending on size and whether we can line up another 1 or 2 families who might want one. We don't usually get the local rock crabs... just dungeness. But I think dungeness are not found in our waters... are they?

Sheep head are a kind of fish... right? We've never been big on fish as I don't really know how to prepare it.

I must sound like a NUT. But channel islands/Ventura is a LOT easier to get to then Avila beach where we buy our spiders now. We get up there about once a month for business and we usually just call the fishermen we patronize to see what they have and how much its' runnin'.

No dungeness around here I'm sorry to say, just rock and spider crab. It would be fun for you to bring your girls down with you if you ever meet us at CI Harbor. Kids get a real kick out of seeing the live crab, fish and lobster. My DH usually does a presentation at my DD's school every year where he brings sea creatures to show the kids. It's always really fun.

Look at all that time in PV - I think we can go to LofG for an hour or two!

DW and I went to PV for our anniversary a couple of years ago. She swore she'd never go back! To copy from another travel chat site, I will refer to the timeshare sales hawkers as "sharks"....when we left the customs area we steped into THE SHARK TANK! :scared: Essentially this is DMZ *before* you get into the arrivals hall where a BUNCH of sharks sit at desks forcing you to run the gauntlet! Even walking around various markets and plazas you'd find them swimming around!

BIP I hope everything works out for Jeff! :thumbsup2

Yes you have the right seller, but I spoke to her via email tonight & she said she is expecting more Mickey ones in soon.
I wrote her too! And she said she "might" have some left in her warehouse and would let me know. Mad rush for the fish extenders instead of the big one 0000 tomorrow, 'kay? :lmao:

Shelley I hope the shot and meds work for DH! :grouphug:
Thanks, I hope so too! He was still hurting when he went to bed so apparently the shot 5hrs earlier didn't help. He took his meds about an hour before going to bed. He does appear to be sleeping better, so hopefully he'll get some rest. He was awful tired this evening after not sleeping well the night before.

Don't wear flip-flops either (can't stand that thing between my toes!). Maybe I'll just wear my sneaks...
Do me a favor, just go in a store that has crocs and TRY THEM before you say you'd never wear them. I, too, really have always had problems with things between my toes. I never wore flipflops (since like I was a kid atleast) because of it. But I tried them on and have worn them since. They don't hurt, and they don't like spread the toes apart, KWIM?

I am so far behind! Oh, well I'll get use to it. I had 2 pirate moments today where I had to laugh!

At work I was talking to one of the lawyers about a complaint I had investigated. He introducted me to another lawyer who was working on a suit reagrading FMLA. We were talking and I went to say that under the protection of ... and all of a sudden the word parley popped into my head! I really had to fight the urge not to say, "Under the protection of parley the person can not be harmed until the parley is complete!" LOL! :lmao: I did manage to say that under the protection of FMLA nothing can be done untill ..... LOL! Of course the two lawyers I was talking to would of thought I was nuts! :rotfl2:

Than the second thing was I dropped $40 at Target dollar spot on POTC items! They had lanyards, pencils, note pads, bandanas, jewlery, socks and flip flops. And some Hello Kitty thrown in. I told the cashier we were pirate happy. She said there's nothing wrong with that!

I've done lost it! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Or I've been possessed by the Pirate Zone!pirate: Cue spooky music.
OMG, that would have been hilarious if you'd said parlay! LOL

I'm going to Target tomorrow. They better have some POTC stuff at mine!

YOu know -----truly another major serious post here.......
glow stuff
You know the kids have a glow party on every cruise and we always take a boatload of glow stuff including some cool goodies for the counselors. When we came walking into the glow party all decked in glow stuff they were so excited.......they said that made them feel good because they knew we were excited about it........My kids ended up trading like bartering with all the counselors and they both ended up with new things.......It would be kinda cool to come up with a glow t-**** for the kids for glow night.......

What a great idea on the bulk buying of glow stuff. I'm looking on oriental trading co right now and it appears ebay is cheaper...

Wouldn't it be neat if we could have the logo shirts, in case some of us end up wearing them on pirates night instead of dressing up (yanno? we might) and they glowed in the dark for the party? LOL

:lmao: :lmao:
Judy - we crack ourselves up!
And me too! (I mean y'all crack me up too)

Hi Lisa ... Just to warn you .. Crocs are sized large... I wear a 7 1/2 - 8 shoe and I take a Small in Crocs.
Ditto.

Well...

... as luck would have it the adult sizes will not fit my size zero spouse, and it seems as if the XL ladies sizes will not fit my size 9.5-10 EE duck feet. Besides.... I'm not partial to the pink/pearl or mary jane color options. Now ... if they had a mens' size in black then I would have bought a pair in a heart beat. As for the kids... I am a little reluctant to make a selection as the kids feet are so foreign to me. I'll just wait til my spouse gets home tomorrow nite. Which brings me to a novel "aside"... I thought she was coming home on thursday nite and not tomorrow... so if not for her call to remind me ... there is a tiny chance she might have been waiting a long time to be picked up... NOT! As in... not in this day of cell phones and such!

At any rate... I am very happy to have my sweetheart returning home a day earlier than previously expected. So far so go where she is at tonight... as the medications dosed are being tolerated well. I think she referred to it as one of those "beta blocker" innovative magic bullets... (I confess to being non-technical and I forget how she described the phamcological cocktails that were being employed).

SO TTFN... I'm gonna work my way backwards to try and catch up a little...
I thought they had the bigger sizes in the black? Atleast they did earlier...

Now I'm finally caught up, just in time for everyone to be asleep, right?

We've only seen it a few times, but when we have caught it, there is usually a boat DH has boarded. I'm sure if DHs play "do you know so & so" for a while they will come up with someone. CG is smaller than the NYPD.

I'm not sure how they regulate lobster, but 10-12 years ago when we lived in Kodiak, they still had "openers" for crab, halibut, etc., instead of IFQs. It was insane! All the menfolk in town were were out at sea (just about everyone was CG or fisherman) & the radio station (note-not plural) would stay on the air all night long! :lmao: I was night manager of a hotel, so I enjoyed the music. (Note to college students - A small island in Alaska will not provide you with the best job opportunities after graduation) Of course you could tell when the DJ needed a nap. "Coming up next: The Wall by Pink Floyd.":lmao:

Stacey do you live in a small town?

When our kids were in Elementary School we had McPrincipal Night. Same premise, and the kids really enjoyed it. I think the faculty did too.

Very small. But we do finally have two elementary schools & two middle schools....still only one high school. When my oldest started kindergarten up here, she still went to what was once the old one-room school on School House Road. No kidding.

McTeacher's Night was pretty fun. What a cool McDonald's. Now I understand all the talk about the sofas and computers......
