Sigh! I miss my big hair too. Big hair, big shoulder pads, cutup sweatshirts ala Flashdance... those were the days my friend!

Those were the days, my friend
We thought they'd never end
We'd sing and dance forever and a day
We'd live the life we'd choose
We'd fight and never lose
Those were the days, oh yes, those were the days

Ok...don't flame me, but I have never stayed at a WDW hotel:rolleyes1 . I also have never been to DL. Anyway, I understand you are right on the property and can get early admission to parks, but are there any other incentives to staying at a WDW or DL hotel? I have a Starwoods card and can get free nights at the Sheratons that are nearby, but just curious if there's a motivation that would cause me to forgo a free stay at a Sheraton and pay for a DL hotel? :confused3

Can tell ya all about bennies of staying onsite at WDW. If similar at DL, dont have to drive or park vehicle, have access to early or late hotel guest only Magic Hours, location, location, location for small children needing time outs, or for adults that need time outs also LOL. Plus you get the Disney attention to detail, and Mickey gets more money, which helps out my Disney Stock Price !!!!

One more thing, Theming. Disney rooms are themed to help keep the magic. Not just a bed, but there is a whole motif that varies by resort. Also, one of the differences between the Value resorts and the Premier resorts are the amount of theming (and wall thickness:))

Last night, I learned from a friend some very disturbing news......

Were you all aware that Cookie Monster from Sesame Street has undergone an identity change? He is now being referred to as Veggie Monster! Now, I am all for teaching kids healthy eating habits, but come on!

C is for COOKIE....that's good enough for me!

:sad2:
OMG, if that is true, OMG, How Sad!!!!!! I just was singing that song with my 2YO son (It was on Kidstuff Sirius Radio) last night. Tell me it is an urban Legend.... Mythbusters where are you!!!!!!!

OK Andy, I'm crying now!! Oh Elusive Youth!!!

WAAAHH!!!

Just noticed that in 50 more posts I will be a DIS Veteran... I want to thank you all for helping me get there !!! :cool1: :cool1:

OK, I did some internet surfing and this Martini recipe sounds similar to what I had last night:

Ingredients:
1 1/2 oz vanilla vodka
3/4 oz coconut rum
1 splash pineapple juice
orange twist

Directions:
1.) Add vanilla vodka, coconut rum and pineapple juice into martini shaker with ice
2.) Shake ingredients over ice
3.) Pour contents into a Swank martini glass
4.) Garnish with an orange twist

But in my search, I also found the following:

Pirates Painkiller

50 ml White Rum
30 ml Coconut Milk
30 ml Pineapple Juice
30 ml Orange Juice
30 ml Grand Marnier
Crushed Ice

Shake vigorously all ingredients in a shaker except for ice and Grand Marnier. Fill glass with ice. Pour mixture into glass with a liberal floating of Grand Marnier on top. Dust with fresh ground nutmeg. Wake up the Pirate in you!

Sounds pretty Piratey to me!

These both sound yummy! I'm gonna keep these and add them to my binder!

I know I am very behind...

Mary, My best wishes to you and your B-I-L.

Which 4-day are you going on in Aug? I will be on the last one (26th).
We have a much more subdued DisMeet for that one!!!

What part of Queens are you from? I was born an raised on Howard Beach.

Sil,

Thanks for the well wishes! I appreciate them all :).

We'll also be on the 26th! I'll have to pop on over to that thread. I'd love to get in on the Dismeet. There will be 15 of us coming on the 26th. It should be great and chaotic..lol

I grew up in Corona but am now living in College Point. Hope this post doesn't get lost - this thread is impossible to keep up with..lol

I have the recipe for a Blue Barricuda. My DH tried it on our last cruise from Palo and loved it! I got the recipe from our server. I'll have to dig it out and post it. It is really good and of course blue!

Mary

WOW - I'm finally caught up - only took me 3 1/2 hours!

When we did the last repo in 05 my dh didn't want to do disneyland so while looking for alternatives I found the Hyatt Regency on Huntington Beach, CA. They had a special "courtyard" view room for $125. It was really, really beautiful and a very relaxing way to kick off our vacation.

I found it very convenient to everything - airport, port, food, etc.

Anyway, just thought I throw it out here for anyone looking for something different to do.

Hello everyone......just popping in to say "hi"......I struggle so much to keep up with this thread.....without the recaps, I'd be totally lost!

If anyone would like to see a very sweet and romantic music video that my son was the director of photography for, please go to this link. The featured singer is actually a ukelele artist so it probably won't get much network play but hopefully it will lots of online hits. Hope you enjoy!

thank you - I really enjoyed it! - you must be so proud of you son!!!!:thumbsup2 :)

Why, why, why are all the good colors in the kid's sizes? I already have black, red, lime green, bright blue, and pink (OK, its an obsesion!)

OK - I went out and looked this up - according to Wikipedia is was a totally false rumor! They have broadened Cookies diet somewhat and he likes eating anything/everything - but he is still the Cookie Monster  :cheer2: :dance3: :woohoo:

DL tickets currently are.

2-Day Park Hopper® Ticket
$102.00 3-9
$122.00 10+
1-Day Park Hopper® Ticket
$73.00 3-9
$83.00 10+
Single-Day Theme Park Ticket**

Does anyone know if you can use a WDW Annual Pass at DisneyLand? You couldn't last time I checked but that was about 15 years ago and I don't think you could use ANY WDW tickets at DL back then...

In my tenure (on the CB) I have learned some secrets of the TAG FAIRY. I have personally been invloved with many polls to determinr the preferences of said deity. I will share a few of the results. The TAG FAIRY is not one entity, there are several of them. Indeed, one would need extreme amounts of Pixie Dust just to monitor this thread alone.... Also, the TAG FAIRY can be bribed. We searched for the favorite chocolate, thinking Mars Bars as our initial guess, and in the poll, the TAG FAIRY closed it and gave several thousand votes to "Godiva chocolates wrapped in large denomination bills (Sponsor: A more practical Tag Fairy)"

The TAG FAIRY couldn't decide on a color, so Pink and Green were assigned.

Clapping Is a great way to attract the TAG FAIRY, but begging upsets them. Especially the male ones.

Favorite Song was determined to be "Everybody Has a Laughing Place", but there was no input from the TAG FAIRY at that time.

Once again, Begging is a big NO-NO.

They do have a form religion. I have found that they all pay homage to the great God Pete. While Pete generally does not communicate directly, he has been known to pass threats through his High Priest "Alex". There was a time when Alex banished the TAG FAIRY for several months because of all of the begging going on. He is NOT to be trifled with.

I have also found that the Moderators seem to have some pull when it comes to enticing the TAG FAIRY out.

I hope this helps y'all!!!
