Well Pirates, so much for my hope of 2008 being better than 2007. DS is in the hospital again for his depression. I really don't know how much more of this I can take. Please pray for us.

Thoughts and prayers with you and your son. It may not be much help but my nephew had the same type of problems and now he is 27 and on the road to a happy and successful life. Take it one day at a time.

Barbara

Been away for about a month -- no way to catch up. Four weeks straight 24/7 with a two and a five year old (+ the two grown dd's) and I'm really tired. It was great and I wouldn't trade a minute of it away.

Just scanned the last few pages. I noticed the posts about the t shirts. Where is the info? Did a quick run through the website but didn't notice any info. It's probably there but I missed it.

DD's just started interviewing and we are still hopeful that she will be able to cruise. She had to leave Florida right after Christmas to spend 4 days in Chicago at the MLA conference where a lot of interviewing is done. When she got back we started to talk about packing and checked out the after Christmas sales. Three adults in a Cat 10 can be tight if we're not careful. It's hard doing the planning long distance. We have the 7-day list down pat and are working up from there. She just scheduled a quick visit to WDW in June so that we can make our final packing plans. Oh well, it makes a nice excuse for a couple days a Beach Club Villas. We won't know whether she can cruise or not until about April so it doesn't make much sense to work on the lists right now but it's hard to stop ourselves from talking about our plans. The anticipation is part of the fun.

If anyone can direct me to the t shirt info, send me a PM. Hope to be in chat Friday night.

Barbara

LOVE MY MAC ...I cant even begin to explain , I have been waiting to convert for awhile and I am so happy we finally did ...Im still learning but its getting easier by the day , and more simple too ...We kinda splurged since it was the end of the year and we changed our whole office so I got the 24 Imac My sweet Melissa got the 20 Imac and we also got the macbook so we would have a laptop when we travel ...so if you have any questions I will try my best to answer what I can , as I am still learning all the cool and easy things you can do with a mac ...

Lots of thoughts and prayers coming your way. :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:

It's OK as long as you stay away from the wives clubs!

I swear I actually said that at work today!

:snooty: "We need to to find a funder for this new program."
pirate: "Great, what's the program. Give me the details"
:snooty: "Well, we're not going to bother with pesky details until we have the money"
pirate:"Ummm, no one is going to just toss a million dollars our way to do 'whatever'.I need to have something to write about."
:snooty:"Why are you being so difficult?"

Amen on the wives clubs. What a waste of time. The colonel's wife asked me one time why I didn't come. So, I told her. Give me workshops on managing a career when you have to pull up stakes every 2-3 years, and I'm there. But, I've got better things to do with my time than 5 fun things to do with a paper bag. She left me alone after that. :rotfl:

Uh, do we work in the same place??

I have one of those! DS8 is always sorting, straightening, organizing at school, stores, friends homes, etc. - BUT almost never his own stuff!!

I also have a standing list - actually there are two versions "WDW" and "Cruise". We found out about the TOAL on our last cruise (The itinerary was announced while we were onboard the Magic) and as we were packing up to go home, DH & I were saying that if we could just bring ourselves to pack for a 7-Night cruise it would be about right for a 15 day cruise! I am going to try VERY, VERY hard to remember that when it comes time to pack! :thumbsup2

Mine too. And I don't get it either. He actually asked a clerk to unlock a case once so that he could fix the contents.

Yeup - I figure we just reuse the 7-day list (which I still have) and do laundry twice often. Huh. We'll have to bring more laundry detergent.

Welcome back Capt'n! We missed ya.

Anyone want to share what they are budgeting for their onboard acct?
We are planning on doing some excursion at every place but not the expensive dolphin swim etc.
I have widely estimated we will need $3500-4,000 not including tips.
We also are not planning on the most expensive spa options (spa villas) but will be spending some time in there.
Since the qualifying cruise was for only 4 days it is hard to extrapalate into 15 days. Yal think I am inline with reality?
I know so much depends on a huge number of factors but I was just curious. I have the tips covered by my Disney credit cards rewards and I am putting my stock dividends the 1st 3 quarters of this year in a separate acct for other onboard expenditures.

Monica words can not express how sorry I am to hear this! My thoughts are with you!

I keep waiting for this week to get better. Work is a pain in the add right now. At least we'll be in WDW in 2 days! :donald: :dumbo: :sulley: :tigger: :simba: :stitch: :figment:

Have fun in Disney M! :yay:

Well one bonus is that we'll have a bunch of sea days to choose from....

This is true! Does anyone have any idea which seas day will be the most popular? Do you think the first sea day will have a rush or do you think people will want to wait?

Oh, Monica .... :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:
It may not help much, but we're all thinking of you & your son. You can get through this.

Thanks, let me see if I can do this.

My work here is finished... I helped Pete figure out the multiquote. :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

I think the 1st sea day for a couple's brunch would be great in terms of getting to know each other right away. I'm sure there will be plenty of DIS meets - but enjoying brunch together should be a good way to put faces with names.

On the other hand, it might feel very rushed since the 1st sea day is Monday right after we sail on Sunday night.

Then again, it might be a wonderful way to "kick-off" the cruise!

I guess I am very wishy-washy today .... :)

For the two of us, the cost for me to rent a car is close to the cost for the transfers. The flight price was identical between Air Tran and Midwest Express. So for a few more bucks, I don't have to hassle with my luggage in the terminal or to the airport.

We have a combination of 6 people and a later flight so that is why we went w/ the car. I want to sneak in a trip to DTD before our flight.
But... it sure would have been nice to not hassle w/ luggage. Guess that is what tips are for. :)

We've been a mac family since the 80's. Had one PC in the mid-90's and never again. I have an Imac and both dd's have mac books. Over the holidays we had all three going at the same time with the mac airport.

Barbara

Thanks for getting this clarified Tracy. We've decided to fly back home on AirTran so we can take advantage of this. Of course, it means flying back into a different airport than we are leaving from - BUT it does mean that we get to use a car service each way instead of driving and leaving the vehicle at the airport!:cool1:

You are using Disney transfers from the airport to port/ port to airport correct? If not you cannot use this service.
I am renting a car from PC to MCO so I am stuck lugging my own luggage.

Well ignore my random over posting. My computer (PC of course ;) ) went temporarily insane.

Geez I hope we don't spend that much. We're not good at budgeting. In fact we never budget, but fly by the seat of our pants & hope for the best! I'm thinking that if I keep my bar bill down by bringing on some wine, only do a couple of excursions, keep the kids in check at the arcade & gift shop, & prepay our gratuity that maybe we can keep our on board acct. around the 2k mark? Of course I have to factor in a couple of games of bingo, Palo, etc. and I haven't decided about the spa yet. I'm not a spa kinda gal, but I might be tempted, Anyway all in all, it shouldn't be too bad I hope!

Gee thanks Pamela...that helped a lot! ;) Seriously I like the idea of the first sea day too as long as it's not too busy! :confused3

Well, I just booked our return flight (still don't have the outgoing one!) on AirTran from MCO to Midway Chicago. Not the best I've ever paid - but also not the worst - $120 each for the one-way flight. I would have liked to wait for SouthWest, but we were getting nervous that the labor day holiday might be a very busy day and didn't want to keep waiting. Also, we do have DCL transfers from port to MCO so being able to check the bags and not have to deal with them until we get home sounds pretty good. This is the 1st time we've had transfers - we've always rented a car and spent a couple days at WDW. But this time we have to get back for school. I'm sure a car would be a little cheaper than the transfers, but sometimes I'll pay a little more for convenience. THere are only 3 of us so it isn't too terribly bad...

Any comments on AirTran? We have never flown them before...

Pamela (pdarrah)

We fly AirTran out of Dayton all the time. I just got my Mom a ticket from MCO to Dayton for $72. She has to flight nonstop and that is the only direct flight I can find at a good price. We flew back from MCO in December for $99, but when I went to book for my DD we had to pay $169 for the same flight.

We have never had any problems, but we fly nonstop so not as much to go wrong.

Thanks Terri! We also try to fly non-stop since there is less risk of problems and it is quicker. Being near Chicago, we can nearly always get non-stop flights. I'm glad to hear you are happy with AirTran - I am so used to flying SouthWest and United that I just don't know much about the other airlines.
