A chance to actually ballroom dance would be fantastic! DH and I have been dancing since college (though we haven't had much opportunity lately) and the only disappointment for me with a DCL cruise is that there really isn't anywhere to ballroom dance. I had hoped that the "band" in the Promenade Lounge would occasionally provide the right kind of music - but on our 3 cruises, it has been mostly pop/rock and on our last cruise was absolutely horrible to listen to. We've only stopped by there a few times, but it was either music that just wouldn't work (unless you want to do nothing but foxtrot the whole time) and/or the floor was filled with little kids. I have never heard a waltz or rumba or polka or even a decent swing being played there.

Maybe I'm reading this different, but on the WB its:

Ballroom Under the Stars Formal Night

I'm envisioning a deck party with formal attire (plus dinner too)?

Plus, in my vision, complimentary cocktails.

BALLROOM NIGHT....... Cool....

DH and i are going to sign up for lessons starting in a couple weeks.

(My Xmas present) OK so i threatened him.....:rolleyes1

That is so cool!!!
I can't ever get DH to dance. His college had formal dances, so I would trek 600 miles via bus, plane and rental car to go to these things so he would dance with me twice. I danced with his friends!

I guess you could adapt a quickstep or jive to some of the stuff they play in the lounge. I love dancing & I can fake my way through most ballroom dances (since I can do them on ice), but alas, no one to dance with.

...guess you guys will never get to see my killer paso doble.;)

Ok so I thought I would share what you are all sharing and throw in some thoughts! I am going to ramble now!

Two awesome Christmas gifts: An 80g ipod engraved with my name and Brendan's with our wedding date...and he paid my portion of the cruise!

We booked our flight to California today...FREE with Brendan's Jetblue points....UNFORTUNATELY we need to go a day earlier than planned!:lmao:
An extra day in Disneyland!:cool1:

So I need to start on this whole exercise thing seriously in Jan...2 reasons...make our cruise easier and saves some $$ on the dress (they charge extra for us chubbies!LOL)

So my tiara I am wearing the day we get married will be in before the cruise..can I wear it then!?

"Under the Stars" isn't that a prom theme???

Mac computers are better than PC's (LOL) Ok except when your MAC is only barely 3 yrs old and you get a new ipod and it's NOT compatible and you have to upgrade to a new OS!!!!

I have dresses upon dresses..why can't I match them with one pair of shoes so I can save room in my luggage for souvies (I now jewelry is small but if I want lots of it!-Ladies who will shop with me????)

We are looking at our flight home from Orlando Sat when we get back and the Mon following are the cheapest flights...Maybe we will have to stay at WDW for a day or 2????

Ok I think I am done.....Happy Thirst day...

chrissie

Put your beer goggles away, Tom.

Now wait a minute.... based on all the Omar and sheet and... comments today, by day 14 won't beer googles be a good thing?

LOL

Kidding....

But, maybe we could develop a line of expandable formal wear for cruising.... HMMMM

Is the DIS running painfully slow or is my connection at work slow? (Clearly NOT operator error! LOL)

Ummm .... aren't we arriving at Port Canaveral on the Monday? I thought we got there on Labor Day....

Pamela (pdarrah)

Good grief. I've been trying to reply for 10 minutes. I thought they were fixing the boards for the holidays? :confused3

They did a Ballroom night on the repo this summer. It wasn't highly publicized though. On the sea days there were several ballroom seminars where you could learn different dances. Then one night they set up a dancefloor over the Goofy pool and placed tables around. I wandered up when they were setting up (had to refill my coffee mug) and it seemed like it would be a neat party. They put out linen table clothes on the tables.

The problem I saw with it was that in the Navigators when they had the ballroom lessons, there was no mention that you'd actually have a night to display your talents. Maybe they told you at the lessons, but I never went. Then the night of the party, the Navigators didn't make it sound like a shipwide party, just one for those who took the lessons along the way.

Sounds like they might make a bigger deal of it this time around.

Yes, very very very slow! I have a fast connection here and all other websites are speedy.

Good catch. Yes, we do arrive on the Monday, Sept 1.

But what caught my eye.....JetBlue is booking that far now...:cool1: Just checked the website, they are booking through Sep 2.

Edited: for those waiting on Southwest, they are still only booking until May 9

I was getting panicky. Here he gave me this supposed fast computer and I couldn't get the dis to load. Ran to DHs (my old) computer and everything but the dis loaded up . The guys on the podcast last week said they are going to put in new servers to speed up the board. Wonder if it is starting? This is the worst I have ever had..........:confused3

Can any one tell me how to use photos here that I've posted on Snapfish??

I've got pictures of the sample t-shirts. But I didn't bring the passwords to our website with me (which is where I usually load the photos I use here) - so I thought I'd use snapfish. I thought I remembered someone saying that's where they posted the photos they use here. But I can't seem to get a good URL to the photos to use in the img command.

Help!!

Anyway - gotta run. Will be back in a couple of hours. Hopefully, by then someone will have an answer and I'll be able to share the story and photos of our shirts.

Hope everyone had the most fantabulous of holidays!!

The only way I know how to do it is to choose the Share option, then email myself the link. You can either choose Share from your homepage and share a whole album. Or if you just want to do one picture, you open your album, click on the picture, then select Share and it will ask if you want to share the whole album or just the picture.

Diane, I hope you gave him an earful after that comment.

Oh I did!

Oh come now...

Do i have drag everyone to the gym with me every day?
impatient.gif

Would you come here & drag me NOW??? ;)

Smack your DH upside the head for me, will ya?
Besides, I'm not sure a Bedazzler is going to make ANYTHING chic.

Formals on night 14. :scared1: I need to get my order in to Omar the Tentmaker.

Could you please?
You are one awesome workout machine! Congrats on 100!

No I didn't M, but now that you mention it....I think I will smack him upside the head! Oh Honeeeeeeey!!! ;)

There was talk about a walking club a while back. I definitely need to do something or DCL just might lose one of their sheets!

Elbow-length gloves and tiaras.

Seriously, some women wear formals, some wear cocktail dresses, some wear dressy plants & a blouse, some wear a nice dress, some wear the same thing they wear every other night. Guys are usually in tuxes or nice suits, but some don't bother at all. There is a range.

We have fancy duds that we don't get to wear very often, so we go all out with formal dress and tux, but that's us.

Oh so purty! princess:

You guys look great.

I was thinking about wearing this one night.

I wore it to a wedding a few years ago and it's been sitting in the closet ever since.
I have no idea what to do about the ballroom night.:confused3

That is stunning! I would love to be able to wear something like that!

I didn't even pick up on that till you said something! OMG I've been waiting & checking every day & I missed this???

I just jumped on the 14th without checking around, maybe I should've. I got 229 one way non-stop from Boston to Long Beach. Is that a good deal? :confused3

Just found this on the Budget Board. The new servers are going in tomorrow night. I think this might mean no DIS chat. Tom - are we able to use chat on our Pirate website?

A MESSAGE FROM WEBMASTERALEX -Regarding the New Server!
Our new servers are loaded and ready to go! We will be migrating the boards tomorrow (friday) evening. The boards will go down at 9pm eastern time and you should plan on the migration taking 6 to 8 hours.
If you would like to help test the new servers go here:
http:\\216.167.116.58
You will see a version of the boards that looks a few days old. You can go ahead and post etc, change your avatar, your signature, whatever you want. Any changes or posts will be overwritten when we migrate.
All the usual board rules apply.
If you find any problems please post on the tech support board
Thanks
Alex

Seems to be the best deal right now. I checked on kayak.com and the best was $215 per person but flying into Ontario, not Long Beach. (I used the option to search for surrounding airports). Best to Long Beach was $316.

I don't usually book this early but I usually end up paying less than $200 each way, SF to Orlando. Not exactly comparable, but still somewhat coast to coast. Jet Blue has a flight for us for $239, but I'm going to hold out a little longer.

Oh good thanks! I feel much better about that. Plus if they go down, we can always call & get a credit.

Hey guys I am new here. I posted earlier when I got the ressies. I have been looking for airfare too..wow stuff is high. I need to go from Newark (EWR) to LA and from MCO to EWR. I noticed Jetblue today, the other day they weren't that far out..but they are too high for going home. I am gonna keep looking. I think for the CA leg, we are gonna have to fly outta JFK (really don't want too) go get the cheaper rates.

Any and all advice taken!

There should be some pretty good sales on formal wear after the holidays.

I bought DD11 3 lovely dresses from Khols during there sale last week. They were 50% off and then I got another 30% off. Not too shabby.
