Yeah, "The Queen" was not exactly a "guy" movie, and I really enjoyed it as well . . . who knows how well anything portrays someone you don't actually know? I thought that movie was pretty nuanced, seeming to make the royals unsympathetic at times and quite human at others . . . which is probably they way things really are. Most movies, books, articles, etc., pick an extreme viewpoint and hammer it, but that movie was not really like that.

I enjoyed the movie as well but DH wanted no part of it. He went to see some violent movie instead!!!

We actually did quarantine the new fish for 24 hours. What we didn't do, which we had in the past, was put in the tank separator (to divide the tank in half). That's because it is dirty and sitting in the basement and would have had to have been cleaned and we were lazy and well, see what happens. We're pretty positive it was a bacteria infection in the gills based on the symptoms.

All our shopping is done, we hope, and all wrapped, we hope. Thanks to the snow, we aren't going to get to go out and get our second tree like we planned so we are probably just going to go with one in the LR this year.

Gee, I can't stand people who have all their presents wrapped. Confess did you help wrap them???

yep, the 's joke....is most defiantly an "loaded" cannon?

* where the smart swabbies...make sure..it isn't pointed..in their
vicinity...before firing off their "wish list",

...but if one is asking me, i would have chosen...a different response...
...while its safe to say, my lil'cutie wench..would probably chosen
another ...answer..beside "my heart's desires"...like "shopping for booty".

...dear micmse, i don't want you to "feel" left out...so if i could, i would send
you "all" our snowflakes...[ i bet you make one snowman &
snow girl .... doing "jingle this, jingle that..all the way! ]

i guess the west bounders have alot rooms opening up....wonder how they
doing with us?....its just this nagging feeling....where i feel they going
"call us all gty @ the same lifeboat drill & toss all the room keys where
we must take what we can?

dear pdger...since we're just on the flipped side...{ appox. 1-1/2 hrs from
cincy....guess who got...all your snow??? don't worry, we'll saving
it for you guys, }
...they chopped up all those stories & pics..so iam going half to get the
scissors out...& re-copy...

I don't feel left out!!! Please feel free to keep all the snow your way!!! I much prefer sand than sn*w.:rotfl:

I think you have the solution To DCL's problem. Just toss the keys up in the air to all GTY people.:rotfl: :rotfl:

Andy have a great time inspite of missing all the evening activities:rolleyes1

Cheryl,It's gotten a bit chilly here today. We may need to put some sweaters on:goodvibes
DD finished her last final of the term last night. I know how happy you must be out of classes.

A bit chilly you say!!!:confused3 We went down to 10 above zero last night. We are expecting another 4 more inches of snow tonight on top of the 6 inches on the ground already.:scared: How many more days til I become your neighbor in sunny Florida.:rotfl2:

Went to take the trash out at work this morning and saw the prettiest sunrise....had to take a picture. If you look to the upper right, you'll see the moon and the north star.
P1010196.jpg

Debi, That picture was beautiful. Thanks for sharing it.

Oh, I am really bad at wrapping presents - can you come and do mine too? I don't have a very high patience level and invariably when it comes to gift wrap it drops even lower. The first 2 or 3 look GREAT and then it just seems to drop off from there...I'm so glad that gift bags were invented!:rotfl2:

I was actually trained in the art of wrapping presents years ago when I worked for Golden Books!!!! The joke is I hate wrapping. I would put everything in a brown bag.:rolleyes1 I have no patience......DH does all the fancy wrapping in our house.

Or maybe they are making it "ordinary" so new itineraries with the new ships out of the box will be extra magical?

Or maybe they are suring up their Caribbean business in anticpation of permanently moving the Magic and Wonder to foreign ports?

I'm sure they have some logic in it.

Are we talking about the same cruise line that made us wait hours to spend thousands On our TOAL??:confused3 I don't think DCL has logic if they keep repeating the same mistakes when booking cruises.:headache:

Now I have even more incentive to go to the Chicago meet.....as if meeting some of you wasn't enough

Johnny Depp will begin filming "Public Enemies" a film about the 1933-34 crime era. He will play John Dillinger.

Now you have a better reason to come join us!!!:rotfl: :rotfl:

Been a rough morning walking around today reading meters. Slipped and nearly fell about 10 times........

On any given day I would have had 95-100 meters read by lunchtime, today I was only able to get 60 meters read. The ICY sidewalks and steps have been slowing me down, and winter has only started..........

Home now for lunch, and have the heating pad across my knees.......:goodvibes

I hope you are wearing shin guards.:flower3: :flower3:

Another thing checked off on TOAL!
I have been checking Kayak every day, usually a couple times a day for airfare for this trip.
A month or so I got a great deal on the MCO-DFW (back home) piece- Non-stop for $126.00. I have been checking every day for at least as long for DFW-LAX(getting to ship). It absolutely would not go below $200.00. Then finally last couple of weeks went to $199.00 but Southwest would have been about $50.00 cheaper. Problem w/ SW is because of Wright Amendment we would have had to make a stop somewhere on the way- no direct flights allowed except to neighboring states and DFW is very close to my house and SW's Love Field pretty far away.
Well, I checked again today and American had lots on non-stops for $144.00!!! Needless to say, we jumped on it. We arrive at LAX around 3:00 and will take Super Shuttle to San Pedro Doubletree. Relaxing evening before TOAL and I saved almost $1000.00 doing it myself.
So glad to get that thing from over my head.

So far I have flight from DFW-LAX.
Shuttle from LAX to San Pedro
Hotel in San Pedro (free shuttle to port)
Cruise
Van reserved at PC for trip to MCO
Air from MCO to DFW.

What am I missing?
Oh yeah, we are driving our Yukon XL to airport so will need airprt parking to do.

Happy Birthday and Happy Anniversary to all celebrating!

Add one more thing to your list.:flower3: Make all of Cheryl's arrangements.:rotfl:

Welcome aboard. :woohoo: :woohoo: This is a great group of people. :dance3: :dance3:

Hi, we're joining you on the 17 Aug, me my ds 16 and dd 14. Got a message from my TA to say some spaces have opened up for PC, so have switched from 10 Aug as this is what we really wanted - I've now got to rearrange flights as I'd only just booked them for the west coast cruise.

party: Welcome to our new pirates! party:

M love your designs! I like that Got Magic one. Can I steal it?

It's not stealing if I let you take it! Pillage away!
Have a great trip.

Tom, you forget the fact that DC area drivers don't know how to drive in the first place so flurries got nothing on us.....

You've seen the MD drivers thread on the community boards from yesterday, right? :rolleyes1

I don't even drive much & its a pain in the add. I drive 6 miles to the Metro station. The problem is that the schools are closed, but work isn't and there are about 2x the people on the stupid Metro when it rains/snows.

Oh and all the parking spots are taken by 8 am, so now I have to pay an extra $45/month for a reserved spot. Now it costs me more than $10/day just to get to work (not including car expenses). I live 15 miles from work, but it was cheaper to drive my big ol' SUV 40 miles to work in Alaska.

Really, from DC to Boston, just one big metropolis with differing accents

:lmao: Good point

WOW

There are cabins available for our cruise

Category 07 : Deluxe Stateroom w/ Navigators Verandah $ 7,967.58

Category 08 : Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom $ 7,067.58

Category 09 : Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom $ 6,567.58

Category 10 : Deluxe Inside Stateroom $ 5,567.58

I clicked through on a Cat 10 to see if there were cabin numbers, but it was just GTY

Please tell me that is for 2 people. That's only about $500 more than I paid for my Cat 9 & I was booked within the first 35 minutes.

Hey M!

Sadly - we had to spay our Isis - she got a bacterial infection - although not a major one - she was crying and whining like she was in pain. What with her having false pregnancies each time she went into heat and the possible change of contracting an infection and dying - we decided to do the deed and had her spayed. She went in on Tuesday and was out on Wed. Meanwhile this dog now conned everyone in the family to pet her stomach for 6 hrs straight yesterday. At the rate she is conning everyone - she'll be above me in the pecking order. :rotfl:

We have blockaded the stairs and I had to yell at her yesterday for jumping on the couch - doesn't the dang dog realize she's had her insides all ripped up? Ah well, what do I know - I think I was petting her for 15 minutes before I realized she had been shaved. So who's worse?

Today she spent the day on the living room floor wrapped up in one of those C pillos for pregos? She layed right in the middle of it with her tummy upside for petting. The vet warned us she may do this and everyone here is playing right into her symphathies.

Meanwhile the white one is just wondering why all of a sudden she's going on car rides so much. We have had to distract her away from Isis. She's not complaining though.

How's yours? Still a bit rambunctious? Their sweet tho - wouldn't give them up for a heartbeat!

And in response to the kids learning to clean their pockets? I offer to take the kids out for lunch and something special - that is how they learn who lost money. They still haven't learned - I just get the headshake saying that's cold mom. To which I :rotfl2: and say - come-on - I'm buying. :lmao:

Aaawww. Poor doggie. We had our old dog spayed when she was a pup. She was so pathetic. Malley was fixed by the rescue group before we got her. I'm glad we didn't have to go through that.

Malley was very excited to see snow again. Right now our two biggest issues are that she thinks anything on the kitchen counter is hers and she destroys all dog toys in about 10 minutes. I need to figure out a source for the toys that zoos give to their lion, tigers, wolves, bears, etc.

Lorri looks like you will be joining M, Crash and myself on deck 2. :cool1:

Yeah, Deck 2 is the best.
Hey Roger, you gonna join me in the Stairmaster Club? We take the elevator 3x on the cruise - when we get on & off (cause we have lots of stuff) and formal night.

Thank you all for the Birthday and Anniversary wishes.... I showed my husband and loves all the cakes etc...

Happy Friday Everyone:goodvibes

Gee, I can't stand people who have all their presents wrapped. Confess did you help wrap them???

Yes, of course I helped wrap them. When "She Who Must Be Obeyed" is sighing loudly in the living room with a pile of presents and wrapping paper around her, I know that is my cue to come in and help.

Are we talking about the same cruise line that made us wait hours to spend thousands On our TOAL??:confused3 I don't think DCL has logic if they keep repeating the same mistakes when booking cruises.:headache:

"Made you wait"? Did Mickey have a gun pointed at your head? :lmao:

I don't know, I think maybe Disney knows what they are doing. People were so excited about this cruise being "special" that they spent an entire morning on hold waiting for rooms and the cruise was sold out within hours. Perhaps that's the best reason to go back to normal routes in 2009 -- so the special cruises seem all that more special.

I agree with Jr.

Somebody hold me. I'm scared.

(so I can't figure out caps on my crackberry )

What was all this waiting stuff. I had meetings all day. Didn't wait a minute.

Plus, the thread sounded like you were all having a great time, wonderful hold music, consistent pricing, quick answering.....

Was very pleasantly surprised at the price my TA sent me (so cheap, couldn't afford not to go).

Excuse me while I duck for all the stuff being thrown at me.

I agree with Jr.

Somebody hold me. I'm scared.

Scarier part, now that you have admitted your problem, you will find it easier and easier to agree with him. Its a very slippery slope....

Welcome aboard. :woohoo: :woohoo: This is a great group of people. :dance3: :dance3:

Just watch out for Cheryl, ever since she learned to multi-post and to post images... yikes :scared1:

(kidding Cheryl, kidding)

Cheryl really is a sweety

We too take the

I figure that it will at least burn off all that :cake:. The only other time to take the elevator is for my first cup of coffee. :coffee: Most of the time I don't mind walking but you have to figure that 15 nights of partying is going to take its toll in the morning.
