Just popping in to say "hello" and to thank Tom for our latest installment of the newsletter. I am one of those people who simply can't keep up with the thread. I have been with it from the very beginning (even before the whole day 1 fiasco) but have a full-time job and am training for my first marathon and just don't have the time to read everything. I am so thankful for the newsletter because it gives a nice recap and lets me know if there is something I need to go back and check. Essentially, when I get one of those email notifications that there are new responses (maybe a dozen or so a day), I read the content of the email. If it's something interesting, I open the link and read the surrounding discussion. I know it's hit or miss, but right now, it works for me. I keep hoping that once we get closer to sail date, i will be able to devote more time to posting. I still would like to feel like I am a pirate!

One word of advice to all the mateys who have already purchased their airflights. Don't rely on the carriers to inform you of a change. I just found out (quite by accident) that my connecting flight was cancelled and I was put on another one with a 6-hour layover. When I asked Delta, why they didn't notify me, their response was that it was so early it would probably change several more times, but not to worry, they would definitely notify me at least a week before! (how's that for making your blood boil?) I was able to switch flights at no additional charge , but now have 3 legs instead of 2....grrrrr! So it might be a good idea to periodically check your flights and see if everything is OK.

Anymore people getting cabin assignments? I am still a Cat 7 QTY.

I can't keep up either! I just skim. Blah blah blah cameras...skip that! Blah blah blah math problems...skip that! Blah blah blah Dr. Who...the name is fitting!

Thanks for the heads up! We had the same problem with Delta before. I refuse to fly them now, because of all the changes they make. :sad2:

Good Morning All

Very cold here today, but then I heard it is supposed to be 60 by Thanksgiving - I bet that will make the Black Friday shoppers happy. Does anyone do the Black Friday thing around here? I usually do, but not this year. I think that there are going to be some killer sales the closer we get to Christmas this year. I don't know about other parts of the country, but around here the economy is really choking. I know several people that have taken their house off the market since summer because they just can't afford to move if their house sells at waht the market will allow. What a difference a year makes.

See we had a pirate run this weekend - Congrats Mike.

Thanks for the festive smilies Tom, Diane, Cheryl & Chrissie. I love them!!!!

Tom, thanks for the newsletter. I appreciate the hard work that must go into putting it together each month :)

Diane - you said it perfectly  . This has turned out to be a great group of people and even if you can't post much, jump on in when you can. On my last cruise, some of the nicest people I met hadn't posted much on our thread at all, but once we were on the cruise I got to know them better than some of the regular posters. Sometimes it just works out that way.

Tom appreciate your hard work too! :flower3:

Thanks buddy! :goodvibes I've already met some great friends so I know our cruise is going to be fantastic!

We are going to NH for a few days. We're going to eat at Hart's Turkey Farm for Thanksgiving. (Yipee I don't have to cook or put up with the in-laws!) And we are going to try & hit the outlets in North Conway on Black Friday! We must be crazy!

:bride: I'm loving the wedding pics! Everyone looks so great! I'll have to take a pic of the one hanging in my bedroom, because I don't have a scanner anymore.

Comes out to about $88 a day...which seems probably about right for a mini van...maybe a little on the high side. But since we have to drop off at an Enterprise, I think we're all kind of stuck with that. Do you have any discount coupons you can use? AAA discount? Anything? I think I'd do a search online for discounts. In fact, I know I will when I book our van.
We just have to hope we can get a one-way from Arizona. I suppose it's time to start checking that out.

No I did not have any discount coupons.. I will call back since I have AAA and see what they tell me.. txs for the advice.

Ok Enterpirse does not offer AAA discounts.. :sad1: :sad1:

Darn it. I was hoping they would...I could have used that. I know I'd gotten an offer through American Express for a 2 category upgrade...and like a dummy, I tossed it out. :sad2:

I have a really stupid question and if you all laugh at me, I may go away and hide forever. Take into consideration that I've been heavily medicated, and that it's been a while since our last Disney cruise.:rolleyes1

But....

Do you have to be paid in full before you can book excursions and Palo and spa?

You don't have to be on NCL, and those are the last two cruises I was on, so now I don't remember DCL's policy.
:confused3 :confused3 :confused3

yes, I think you do.
How is your leg healing?

We flew Delta a few years ago at Easter. They drove me nuts!!! We were non-stop, but they changed the flight by 5 hours, and then by 1,2 and 5 minutes at least 10 times......

My worst (but not too bad) Delta experience was flying back from Vegas after a trip to Grand Canyon. We had to cut ten day trip back to 5 days due to work issues and were flying on FF miles. The "only" flight available Vegas to Philly was departing at 7 pm, arriving in Philly after 2 connections at 8 a.m.

We got to the airport and inquired about other flights, since we were on FF miles we were told we had to talk to the corporate office, see the courtesy phones across the way. After 10 minutes on phone, the lady tells us that there is another flight, one change, leaves at 10 pm and gets into Philly at 7 am, but... no FF seats available. However, she says, the plane is essentially empty, 45 seats unfilled and another 25 on status of people unlikely to show (contingency???). She says go to counter and argue.

So to the counter we go and are told we have to go to the courtesy phones. My wife was in front of me and tells the guy, look in the computer at flight ####. Its empty, you have 45 empty seats now, you won't sell anymore tickets, another 25 are unlikely to show, why can't you (at this point I'm so proud... usually I have to be the argumentative one) change us? He looks at our tickets, looks at the computer, back and forth and back and forth and says, you are right, this is stupid. Cancels our tickets and puts us on the other flight.

Then we say we would like to check in and he tells us we can't, needed to wait until 6 hours before the flight (we are now 6 hours 15 minutes or so out)...... So we lugged luggage to a seat and twenty minutes later he waved us over and check us in, check luggage and then we spent time getting a leisurely dinner and watched a movie on my laptop....

yes, I think you do.
How is your leg healing?

I still have some of the incision that hasn't closed yet...and since we're about 30 days out from our cruise I've started to worry about going on the beach, getting in the ocean....and what shoes to wear to dinner! The one that hasn't closed is on the side of my foot. The one on my calf closed nicely a long time ago.
Still going to therapy 3x a week...and doing well. Need to build back my calf muscles, they atrophied. I kind of like it this way, makes my leg skinnier. :lmao: But my therapist says "Muscles are our friends" so we must build them back up again. My endurance is pretty low, can't walk too far for too long. But at least I'm walking, and I am soooooo grateful for that!!

Thanks for asking!
