Andrew I don't think you're thinking anything we haven't all thought about. I personally feel sad that some people don't join us & may be intimidated by the length of this thread. I know some people even bad mouth us. :guilty: Oh well, I feel sorry for them, because this is truly a great bunch of people & all anyone has to do is jump in & say hi! I personally don't care what group they do or don't belong to as long as they really want to be friendly. You don't even have to be going on this cruise to join in. Just ask some of our regulars that we wouldn't want to ever do without!

It is not important to read back, but join in & read when you can. Like you said, thanks to Tom, the important info is on the website. Look at Liz....she gives us the morning hello & forcast & I think we all appreciate it. Does she join in non-stop? Nope, but who doesn't love Liz's dailies? Not that anyone has to provide daily info, but a quick hello every now & then & maybe a little update on how things are going allows us to get to each other. This thread certainly doesn't need any fluff, since it's darn fluffy enough, but I gotta say I also agree with Chrissie....some of that banter really cracks me up & I'd be sad to see it go completely. :sad1: Sorry I must be in a soap box kind of mood tonight! ;)

Diane, I totally agree:goodvibes

Hard to believe its been almost 10 months since we booked.........and only 9+ months left..........second half is always the hardest to get through!!!!

So true Mark! I can't believe how fast these months have flown by, before we know it it will be summer again:goodvibes

Can't seem to lay my hands on our wedding pictures right now to scan and post. Asked DH if he knew where the wedding picture were and he asked - "Dunno. Were we ever wed?" I'll post them when they turn up. :confused3

:rotfl2:

BUT - this did remind me that I never posted any pictures from our August WDW vacation. So here are a few from that...

The family (Issac (DS6), George (DH), me, and Jakob (DS10)), one guess where... ;)

Esteri, you have a great looking family:goodvibes

Hi Everyone!

Once again I am way behind and am going to have to try and ketchup. We had a wonderful time at WDW last weekend - all except for DS and I being knocked down by a kid in the Magic Kingdom  On Friday night, right before 10pm and the 2nd Spectro parade, we were walking down Main Street USA toward the exit looking for a good spot to stop and watch. It was pretty chilly so the crowd wasn't too bad and most of the route was only 1-person deep. We were trying to get as close to the exit as possible and then just stand behind someone sitting on the curb. Suddenly a young teen (probably 12-15ish) was RUNNING through the crowd and cut right in front of me. He was so close that he actually stepped on my foot. Since I was walking when I was suddenly stepped on, I pitched straight forward. I was holding DS8's hand and he was slightly behind me, so I was trying to hold him upright with that hand as I fell. We both ended up on the ground with cuts, scrapes and bruises. Once we somewhat recovered, I was grateful that was all that was injured and very glad it hadn't happened to someone older who might have broken bones. Little did I know that this fall would come back to haunt me the middle of this week! On Wednesday I woke up with my neck and shoulders in major pain which was causing a huge headache. I went to see my chiropractor and as soon as he started examining my neck he asked if I had been in an accident - it seems that I have whiplash! I guess the delay of 4 days before the pain hit is fairly normal... At least I got to enjoy the rest of my weekend at WDW. We spent Saturday at Epcot and Sunday at AK until we had to leave for the airport and other than some of the bruises and scrapes, DS and I felt fine and had a great time!

Do you remember when Oprah took her entire audience to WDW?.
Well my Manager at the time took her young son at the same time. When The whole parade of Oprahites took to the streets, they had security guards who pushed everyone away from the group. Well her son was pushed so hard he was tossed to the ground. Noone in the group stopped to help. She was not one to be reckoned with and stomped over to Guest Relations and complained. Sad to say they took down her report, gave her a bandaid for the kid and didn't offer anything else for her troubles. Apparently the security goons as she called them were causing all sorts of havoc that day and they were beseiged with complaints.Sorry you had a bad experience with a rude and mannerless idiot as well. Glad the injury wasn't severe.

Another beautiful day today. This is the time of the year I enjoy. Not so hot and cool at night. Ketchup later as I have the Amazing RAce to watch.

This is my 1000th post on this thread!

Congrats Julie

I just realized I became a Disveteran!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yeah me!

Actually, I think it happens after the 500th post. I didn't notice mine either right away because we were in the middle of a pirate run at the time:goodvibes
Just shows you're having a good time:thumbsup2

Our youngest dog, Taiko has a shoe fetish. That is, he collects "loose" shoes in the house (to the point of getting into the closet) and brings them to the dog bed. He never damages them, just collects them - one from a pair, never both. We've also had problems in the past with him charging the door and running off. Though when he escapes now - we stay at home (since chase is the game he most loves) and yell at him to come back. He usually hits the end of the cul-d-sac and returns.

Anyway, one of the boys left the door open this afternoon and Taiko took himself for a run. Since we were busy unpacking from shopping, and getting a late lunch, no one noticed. DH went into the garage and found him, tounge lolling, with a still tied ladies walking shoe in his mouth. So, the questions of the hour were "Is there a little old lady somewhere that he knocked down and stole the shoe from off her foot?" and "To whom do we return this shoe??"

Fortunately, the shoe belonged to the neighbor - who had left the pair on the doorstep. But, he had us worried there for a bit. Well, at least he got some exercise today...

Here's a recent picture of the perpertrator ...

OMG that is so funny:rotfl: :rotfl:
What a gorgeous dog:thumbsup2

I saw the musical Sweeney Todd first about 15 years ago, in its first revival. Then when they revived it again 2 years ago (the version originally done in London, where the actors also serve as the orchestra, playing instruments on stage) I was so taken by it I saw it three times. I will be interested to see Tim Burton's take on it . . . I know Johnny Depp started out in a rock band and took an acting job to make ends meet, so I'm sure he can sing. I don't know what the general populace will think of the musical, though, to say it's dark is a huge understatement. It seems as though it could be too dark and bloody for the literary set and too literary for people who enjoy "Saw 3"!

I have been a fan of Johhny Depp since 21 Jump Street Television Show. I think you might be too young to remember it.:goodvibes I am very curious as to Tim Burtons view of Sweeney Todd. I think Johhny Depp does not play the Hollywood game and is not recogonized by his peers as a great actor!!!!!!:rolleyes1

This is my 1000th post on this thread!

I wonder how many I will get to before the cruise actually happens??????

Congrats on 1000th post. Each time anyone posts just means we get to know them a little better.

I (with help of others) intend to create a "sign up" page on the website. Maybe not actually sign up for stuff there, but a one stop shop for all the key things people are doing (e.g. fish extender lists, etc.)

Idea is one page with links:

Fish Extender List
Bus from DL to Port
Group excursion in XXX port
etc.

and link will take you to info and contact person/page/info for it.

Probably after 1st of year will work on this in more detail.

Also, I am very, very, very, very, very open to suggestions on things like this.

Tom... when the time grows closer to our cruise, everyone will step up to help.:goodvibes I think the site is the most informative I have seen compared to my previous cruises.:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 We all apreciate the great job you do on the newsletter and the web site is just full of informationsite.:grouphug: :grouphug:

Diane..since I was one of the guilty people creating a lot of fluff, I did not know how to express my feelings.:confused3 You just said it all for me. Without chatting, how can we get to know each other??? I am looking to meet people who will enhance my whole experience of my cruise. I might even be lucky enough to call some of the people real friends after the cruise.:cloud9: The information we all need for the cruise is everywhere on the internet. The people who will make my cruise more enjoyable are found on this thread.

My Mondays are always crazy and Tuesday had a PTO meeting (which is pretty mandatory now that I am being a co-president). I had planned to get back online and ketchup here on Wednesday, but instead I spent that day in pain and very, very nauseous (I didn't even know that was part of whiplash until this happened). This is the first time of been able to post or read since we left back on the 7th so I am really far behind now!

My neck is still stiff, so I can only spend a short time at the computer before it starts bothering me. Hopefully, I can read a little bit at a time and still -ketchup - but the post count seems pretty high - there must have been a big pirate run for the 80000 post! :thumbsup2

Not only is it Monday, but just went outside to pick up my morning paper, and it's cold and rainy as well here................:guilty: :guilty: :guilty:

I couldn't hate you - when I signed on tonight it reminded me of the early days on the thread:goodvibes!

Okay now back to trying to ketchup!

OK...

.... just a thought... this was just a spat of juvenile delinquency - instigated by an UNKNOWN PARTY at chat the other evening. AND... all I have ta say is that I claim to be INNOCENT and MOSTLY HARMLESS in this matter!

harmless.gif

I proclaim I am INNOCENT this time.

Imagine Tom and Tom both claim to be INNOCENT!!!:rolleyes1 Trying to blame a person who just discovered what a real computer does at HIGH SPEED!!!!:sad2: :sad2:

:

ComputerHolyWars02.gif

Cheryl...

... if ya like what yer computer does now... you should try bidding on ebay in the closing seconds with high sped connections as opposed to dial up. THIS was the original reason I sought a high speed connection. That and the fact Alicia's company had recently approved a higher reimbursement level for high speed connections in he home of employees! < wink >

By the way ... we're just kidding about it being you an' all... everyone knows MIKE was the guilty party. He did after all end up siezing the 80,000th post from all of us, right?

< roaring gaffaws! >

I bet you and Alicia enjoyed it as much if not more than the kiddos:goodvibes

Hey Paula,

You're right... I must say that it was a truly wonderful experience (and privilage) to have served as referee and for Alicia to have served as coach. The laughs and memories were indeed priceless. I must confess - some parents are missing out by not getting more involved.. and I say this with all due respect to those parents who have a difficult schedule or other issues which prevent them from geting more involved. Frankly, at times it was a real "chore" to meet the needs of the team - but always we walked away with grining ear to ear smiles. hat goes for Alicia and i equally.

It has been so long since I have been "on the boards". Mustve been around 76,000 when I last posted!

Work has me totally running ragged (and this is supposed to be my slow season). If it werent for the TOAL (and the fact that I am getting all the time off I need for the trip), I would consider interviewing for a new job! I worked so much OT lately, that I passed out on Fri nite and missed the chat.

And with all the sub prime issues, the rumor is out that the bonus pool at work will be flat from year to year.

Other than work, things are going OK.

I see folks are posting wedding pictures... will have to scan one. But we both look quite different - and its only been 11 years.

Still have not replaced the hot water heater (this was a topic on a chat a few weeks ago). Am using the coil in the oil fired steam boiler for hot water. But am considering a gas fired tankless hot water system. Anyone have one of these installed? I hear they are energy efficient (vs a tank hot water system).

Also, we may ditch our April trip to WDW as my DSis-in-Law is having financial issues and we are trying to tell her to not go to WDW - and delay it until 2009. The airfare for this trip was rediculous (over $400 pp from JFK). We were considering driving 4 hours to Baltimore to get a reasonable airfare (of like $170pp).

Hope everyone is well! And if I fail to make it back to the boards b4 then.... Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!

Well...

... I must say it's nice ta get an update from ya SIL. We miss ya here - and we totally how the chores of life - including that grubby work thing - tend to get in the way of more important things which bring smiles and chuckles to us all. However, it's good ta hear that the threat of a flat bonus is ALL that they're talking about. Out our way the mortgage issues from the industry have led to large layoffs at a major company in our area : Countrywide .... (collective groans all around) ... and it has definately begun to effect the community in various subtle ways. Not the leat of which appear to be housing valuations. Ouch!

So my point - although the "grass seems greener on the other side"... often it is the same exact grass on either side of the fence.

Hang in there SIL. Do remember to take some time on a regular baisis for the most important things in life - #1) yourself, #2) your family, #3) your future. I know.. I did not directly mention the DIS or DCL... well.... that all is included under "family"... right?
