Prior to booking, I had a price I would not go over when booking. When the site came on line for booking the cat 6 was over my price. I booked a cat 8 instead. We sailed in the exact room on the Wonder on our first cruise.

In the mean time, we cruised in a cat 6 in April of this year. Within hours of being in the room, my brother said, ya know, you really should have booked the veranda for the Panama cruise. I agreed.

When we got home I contacted DU. They said sorry, no way. I was really regretting switching my ressie to DU at that point. Although they did redeem themselves with the extra OBC.

Do you think DU could switch rooms with two interested parties? If of course you were interested & if the extra costs weren't outrageous. I think I got tier one pricing. I was booked within 20 minutes of the site coming on line.

For the E/Bound in 2005 DU did upgrade me from a cat 10 to cat 4, after I requested it, and that cruise was as booked up as this one.

Is Todd getting in line or Captain Jack? I'm still contemplating. Every time HP is released it's big around here, but for some odd, unfathomable reason, PoTC doesn't have the same following. I was one of 4 people (not counting little kids) dressed at the first showing of AWE.

It will be Todd ...I shaved off the moustache so there is no hope for the Captain to grow one in 2 weeks ..LOL ....

Hello,
My name is Tom. I am a DISaholic. Sometimes my DISing gets the better of me and I find myself engaging in wasteful posting, also known as fluffing. When I am with my DIS friends, I tend to get carried away as we post hundreds and hundreds of posts. I am here to get better, please help me.

Guess this wouldn't be a good time to ketchuo huh?:rotfl2:

Tom31: Tried to send you a PM but your box is full. Why don't you clean in out in about 100 posts or so.:rotfl2:

Rough time here but we really are doing o.k I am out of work at least 2 weeks due to my incision. ( spelling ) I am heavily medicated to prevent me from doing a darn thing to prevent me from getting a hurnia.

Brooke had her oral surgery today. 3 teeth removed, 1 impacted molar. I am giving her ice on for 30 min. off 30 min. Next dose of meds is at 12:00 AM What a week !!!

Tina a hug for both you & Brooke!

Hi Everyone!

Once again I am way behind and am going to have to try and ketchup. We had a wonderful time at WDW last weekend - all except for DS and I being knocked down by a kid in the Magic Kingdom  On Friday night, right before 10pm and the 2nd Spectro parade, we were walking down Main Street USA toward the exit looking for a good spot to stop and watch. It was pretty chilly so the crowd wasn't too bad and most of the route was only 1-person deep. We were trying to get as close to the exit as possible and then just stand behind someone sitting on the curb. Suddenly a young teen (probably 12-15ish) was RUNNING through the crowd and cut right in front of me. He was so close that he actually stepped on my foot. Since I was walking when I was suddenly stepped on, I pitched straight forward. I was holding DS8's hand and he was slightly behind me, so I was trying to hold him upright with that hand as I fell. We both ended up on the ground with cuts, scrapes and bruises. Once we somewhat recovered, I was grateful that was all that was injured and very glad it hadn't happened to someone older who might have broken bones. Little did I know that this fall would come back to haunt me the middle of this week! On Wednesday I woke up with my neck and shoulders in major pain which was causing a huge headache. I went to see my chiropractor and as soon as he started examining my neck he asked if I had been in an accident - it seems that I have whiplash! I guess the delay of 4 days before the pain hit is fairly normal... At least I got to enjoy the rest of my weekend at WDW. We spent Saturday at Epcot and Sunday at AK until we had to leave for the airport and other than some of the bruises and scrapes, DS and I felt fine and had a great time!

My Mondays are always crazy and Tuesday had a PTO meeting (which is pretty mandatory now that I am being a co-president). I had planned to get back online and ketchup here on Wednesday, but instead I spent that day in pain and very, very nauseous (I didn't even know that was part of whiplash until this happened). This is the first time of been able to post or read since we left back on the 7th so I am really far behind now!

My neck is still stiff, so I can only spend a short time at the computer before it starts bothering me. Hopefully, I can read a little bit at a time and still -ketchup - but the post count seems pretty high - there must have been a big pirate run for the 80000 post! :thumbsup2

Pamela (pdarrah)

OMG Pamela that is horrible! Did anyone even stop to help you?

When you get to the one by me saying only 300+ posts till pirate: you should skip to post 80,025 (although there is some mighty entertainin reading, not much substance in that stretch).

There really is! :goodvibes Believe it or not I just went back & read them. I did do a little reading when I got home from the Pampered Chef party at about 3:30am, but I forgot what I read!

Quite the Pampered Chef party! They talked me into going Salsa dancing after the presentation. I've never Salsa danced in my life, but after a few glasses of wine....I thought I was awesome! :rotfl2:

Then I played poker till about 3:30 & lost big time! Needless to say, I spent most of yesterday recovering. Why do I think I can still party like a ST??? :confused3

We've been going over finances :scared1: What do you think our chances would be of changing stateroom categories? We're in a 6 and I was thinking of trying to move down to save some bucks,or is that not an option?

Debi I heard that quite a few people from another board have decided to cancel & do something else instead. That means a bunch of rooms may have or will open soon. Unless those cancellations just put a dent in the 30%?

I was originally going to book a cat. 9, but when it came down to it, I had a feeling I would regret not having the verandah for 15nts so I made a deal with DH that if the verandah was too much, I would go for a lower cat. Well guess what, the cat. 6 was a "bit" more than that cap we agreed on, but I booked it anyway. DH was not too thrilled at first, but I tried to reason that in the scheme of things, what's a couple thousand more? :rolleyes1 Anyway, after the initial shock wore off, he has finally agreed with me. I think! ;)

Ah, yes, Sweeney Todd, did you know he sings in this movie?

http://www.deppimpact.com/video/st_trailer2.wmv

It's a very dark movie but it looks good. I never saw the stage versions but this story definitely has a following.

I saw the musical Sweeney Todd first about 15 years ago, in its first revival. Then when they revived it again 2 years ago (the version originally done in London, where the actors also serve as the orchestra, playing instruments on stage) I was so taken by it I saw it three times. I will be interested to see Tim Burton's take on it . . . I know Johnny Depp started out in a rock band and took an acting job to make ends meet, so I'm sure he can sing. I don't know what the general populace will think of the musical, though, to say it's dark is a huge understatement. It seems as though it could be too dark and bloody for the literary set and too literary for people who enjoy "Saw 3"!

This is my 1000th post on this thread!

I wonder how many I will get to before the cruise actually happens??????

Congrats!

I would bet probably more than 1,000

Well, this makes 1001 (a nice palindrome of a number) so it's a guarantee that I will have more than 1000 posts on this thread before we sail . . . I think the thread is going to get very active next year as we plan excursions, start fish extender lists and chartered bus reservations, etc., etc.

We had a similar discussion in our family. We started with 2 cat 6's, saw the price OUCH !!!! and went immediatley to 2 cat 9's........

A window on the Magic is better than a lawn chair on the deck at home !!!!

Try to think of this from the TA's point of view.......At this point, they can make more money with new ressie's..than they can just switching us around...... When it comes time to make the final payment.........some folks will drop out..........I would put my request in.........and wait and see......Dont be suprised if you dont get tier 1 pricing on the new ressie........

I do agree, but without wishing to spoil anyones fun, there are a number of other cruisers on our trip, who feel a bit intimidated by this thread moving on so fast and not being able to keep up to date. (Or even find their original post) so they avoid it. I PM some and ask why they do not join us.

That also was a complaint leveled at me on our Med thread in the summer, I tried to keep a limit on the pirates, by trying to ban 'fluff'. ( And I was guilty),I was frustrated our Med thread was slow, but after pirates it went a bit too fast, but at least it brought everyone together.

I just worry that others will not join in, the great support Website does help though, so we have a quick reference point for information, but even with the hours I am on the Dis, if I cannot keep up, then others will not.

The important stuff is exactly as you quote, 'as we plan excursions, start fish extender lists and chartered bus reservations,' etc, great stuff, but ( not a moan) I really worry at this rate it will get lost.

I (with help of others) intend to create a "sign up" page on the website. Maybe not actually sign up for stuff there, but a one stop shop for all the key things people are doing (e.g. fish extender lists, etc.)

Idea is one page with links:

Fish Extender List
Bus from DL to Port
Group excursion in XXX port
etc.

and link will take you to info and contact person/page/info for it.

Probably after 1st of year will work on this in more detail.

Also, I am very, very, very, very, very open to suggestions on things like this.

Andrew, I agree that it is crucial that we have an easy way for the truly relevant cruise-related information to get to everyone who is interested. I think Tom has a terrific idea for the website, and we just have to be sure that anyone who is interested can get to that information (for example, if we require a certain number of posts to get on the other website but someone is intimidated by this thread and doesn't post, how do we get it to them?). As it stands now there is a lot of information that anyone can access on the pirates website without joining, isn't that right, Tom?

On the other hand, I have to say that the "fluff" on the thread is a way to make friends, and having friends on the cruise makes for a more intense and memorable vacation. So we have to try to strike a balance between allowing the friendships to form on the thread, with all its nuttiness, and making sure that everyone who is interested has access to the information.
