Who is exactly are the "right people"? Please do tell- still haven't got my cards even after emailing (and receiving conf. that they would be sent) and then calling (and receiving promises that they would be sent). *sigh* This was months and months ago (been 16months since we cruised...)

The right person is Tom McAlpin President of DCL. I sent a Certified letter to his office in Celebration Florida. I Keep getting cards now.:lmao: :lmao: I also got a nice note from his right hand person.:thumbsup2

Hazel and I had a long chat this morning. We are thinking about taking a shorter 3 day trip to Chicago next May. We really want to be there to support Angelina and the rest of the band and choir kids at the concert they will be giving. We didn't want to do all the other stuff that they are doing, except maybe going to see Wicked, I've heard a lot of great things about the show. I guess I will need to do a little bit of research on Chicago!!! ;)

My daughter is going soon so I will let you know about Wicked.:goodvibes I heard from everyone else it was great. We might still get to meet you after all!!:rolleyes1 :yay: :hug: :grouphug:

Wow, would have hated to see what it looked like before then.

Hey JR, John and I are still waiting for you to stop by. :thumbsup2 Maybe we all go meet Andy in the spring too!!!:woohoo:

Happy Birthday Tyreak! (Disneyjunkie's Son)

Hope it was right on target!!!

Sorry that deserves a groan!

Just dropping in & realised how much ketchup there is! Spent the last few days on a reseidential course learning how to be a trainer. It was a a bit of Lincoln University & quite obviously their idea of keeping students going is to feed them....lots! It was cooked brekkie, 3 course lunch & dinner with comfort food like sticky toffee pudding (yum, yum)!!!!!

I will have some of that and need a trainer later.

Hi, everyone! Hope everyone is doing well.

Roger so sorry to hear about your neighbor. :grouphug:

To those of you who scored Hannah Montana tickets, yeah! To those who didn't, maybe you can snag them. DD has a choir concert the night she is in Metro Detroit, so that ened that. I laid out enough money to take her to High School Musical the Concert in Jan. The price of tickets is outrageous, not to mention t-shirts and programs. And than I have to drive almost 50 miles one way to see it!

I completely agree about the price of tix. DD wants to see HSM but tickets are £32-50 at our local theatre (approx $75). She is going to see HSM ice tour tho' so hopefully that will compensate. Fortunately (altho' not for DH), Hannah Montanna is not playing the UK so don't have to worry about that!

Celestine you were asking about hot air balloons rides next year. Well I found the ultimate one for you. I just found this as one of the new giveaways for the extension of Year of a Million Dreams. Next year there will be tethered hot air balloon rides over Disneyland. The balloon will be in the shape of a giant Mickey head. I have read that it will be touring the Western States next year. Here are the dimensions.
Balloon Statistics

Height: 98 ft from ground to top of ears

Weight: Estimate 410lbs

Circumference: 168 ft

Diameter: 53 ft

Volume: 90,000 cu. ft (body) - 113,000 total

Lift capacity: 1800lb max gross lift

Thread Used: Approximately 9 miles of thread!

Gold Fabric for Mouse Ears: Approximately 750 Sq Yards

Fabric: Approximately 4744

Now......I'm guessing my chances of winning are rather like those of the lottery, so what would the chances be of them using it as a moneyspinner and offering it to "fee paying" customers?

Completely agree...went to the gym as soon as I got back last night & again this morning!!!! Won't get there now until next Tuesday as DH has jetted off (again) to Singapore.

Your going to have to 'tag' him!

Purchased your flights for 2008 yet? I see Virgin is now £500 above BA, for the same class I booked in August.

Ok, DD is definately supporting the medical profession this week. Not only did DGS have to go to the Orthopedist yesterday (by the way, no soccer for him for at least 3 weeks as well) but last night one of the dogs couldn't walk on his back legs. Took him to Vet today and I'm not going to tell you how much this set her back $$$. They ran test after test and can't come up with the diagnosis but the pooch is also running a fever. She stopped by on the way home and he was able to get out of the car and greet us. He was a bit stiff and his back legs look like the muscles are tight. He has been resting all day. They are waiting to get back the results of the Tick test. Lots of ideas but no concrete answer:confused3

I'll tell you she never has a dull moment. In spite of the boot on his foot, he still wants to go to the weekly dance they have for them in town. It certainly is an attention getter:goodvibes

Then my Mom called last night and told me her bestfriend who is 91 fell again on her birthday (this happened last year resulting in a broken elbow) and my mom couldn't get her on the phone so she drove over to see if she was ok. Found her laying on the ground in her front court in the biggest pool of blood she ever saw. She went to bring in some flowers and must have slipped. Cut the side of her head and said she was laying there for 1 1/2 hrs calling for help. Since we all live in a/c homes you really don't hear anything. So she had to get a neighbor the help her get her inside and they called 911. Just an FYI. You really don't want my Mom around on your birthday. Twice for Gladys and then her cousin slipped and broke her hip a few years back on her birthday surprise party. Mom was there. Drove down purposely to surprise her. This is why we don't get together on my Birthday. Now maybe she will get her to wear one of those life alerts she doesn't want.

Stace! How did the Dr visit go??? Hope you are feeling better.

It's been raining for the most part here all day. We have a trip planned tomorrow in Tampa and I hope it stops by then.

Whoa. And just the other night I was wondering how come my son never did "that" part of his uniform! He's a Webelo 1 now, but I was looking a few weeks back to figure out all the stuff I had to buy to change his uniform (and did so) and it was at that time I saw the totem rank thingy that he could have been wearing for quite some time now- but wasn't. I'm glad now.... geesh :(

.

To add to the excitement, while I was at work last night, DW called to tell me that Nick(DS8) fell of the monkey bars and hurt both wrists. I came home and she took him to the ER. Turns out he broke his arm, but luckily it was only one (the one he writes with, of course) and it's only broken in one place. He has a hard plastic immobilizer, and I'll take him for his cast next Tuesday. I guess that's the end of soccer for Nick for this year.

I'll try to pop in for chat tonight. I really enjoy talking to everybody. But I may just fall alseep out of exhaustion from last night's near all-nighter. I'm getting too old for this college stuff. Thank goodness this is my last year of classes. I'll be sooooo ready to celebrate by the TOAL!!
gosh I hate monkey bars. Bane of the existence of young boys- apparently. :(
(Robert broke his arm and elbow- had to have cast and pins and his arm is kinda messed up now since it was on the growth plates and an entire corner of his elbow was completely broken off in there- at the age of 5.. from you guessed it- falling off the monkey bars! I was already leary of those things- which is why he wasn't allowed to go across at that age without me underneath him. I'd just let him go across several times with me underneath to catch him- and he wasn't supposed to go across again- we were done. I turned to go push Rita on the swings- she was beckoning me to do so.. she was 3 at the time- and soon as I turned my back he went across and since his arms were tired at that point he fell off- landed on his elbow. That summer was really hard for all of us- none of us could do anything that he couldn't do while in the cast. He did play soccer because the next season didn't start for 4mo but we had to be careful for awhile even after the cast was off. )
I'm so sorry he won't be able to play soccer and hope he heals up quickly.
I hate monkeybars. seriously.

Oh.
well I want them pretty bad but I don't know if I want them bad enough to send a certified letter to Tom about it. LOL
(maybe- we'll see :rotfl: )

Someone else made mention of all the stuff their kids were selling right now. All I want to know is why EVERYONE has to sell at the same time? Don't they know they'd have better sell results if they staggered this stuff a bit? I guess all they can think of is that if they sell later- people won't buy because they already bought other stuff? But it really doesn't help.
Here we have my middle schooler selling stuff for school AND different stuff for band. 2 different fundraisers at the same time.
Girl Scouts are going to be selling nuts and candy soon.
Boy scouts are selling popcorn.
Younger two are selling stuff for the school. PLUS having their biggest fundraiser (fall festival for Halloween) in which parents are asked to donate bags of candy, 5 cakes per classroom plus other baked goods for the cakewalks, items to go into a themed basket for each classroom which will be in the silent auction at the fall festival, 2-liter cokes to them be sold at the concession stand, volunteer to help "work" each classrooms activity and the concession stands AND buy the tickets for their kids to do the activities in each classroom/cakewalk/etc. AND bid on the silent auction items. All this at the same time asking $3 per child for party money for the couple of holiday parties they do each year.
If you imagined that I, as room mother for both my younger two classes, have received very few $3 party money, ZERO items donated for the baskets and as of yet no one donating the other items or volunteering to work the room's activities- you would be right.
They burn out the parents- it's totally ridiculous!
Girl Scout cookies always do well- and I think part of that is because they are girl scout cookies but I think another big part of it is that it's LATER- when all the other fundraising stuff has run it's course and it's the only fundraiser going on at that time. That's my opinion anyway. It sure is easier to get people to buy cookies when there isn't any other fundraising going on. WHO they expect to buy all this stuff from the fundraising is beyond me. With so many fundraising efforts going on at once- every single parent out there has ATLEAST one child (usually all of them at once) selling something themselves.
I'm fundraised out. I opted to just donate some money to the elementary my younger two go to- and opt out of the fundraiser. My kids are already trying to sell too much stuff to add that on too!
(ps Jeff is out right now with Robert selling popcorn... wishing him luck. Popcorn tends to do pretty good- we can't sell anything from the other fundraisers if our lives depended on it though. Waste of time even trying..)

Hi,

I just showed Tyreak the thread. He had a huge smile on his face and says thanks to everyone.

He wanted to know if I could make the dart board or pirate cake.:scared1: :rotfl2:

Thanks again.

see ya in chat:surfweb:

OK...

Had a nice day today... got all kinds of errands done today - and the weekend is shaping up into a nice one. Plus I picked up a 266x high speed 2gb CF card ... plus I got a Creative ZEN V MP3 player just like the one pictured below... only $35 for the 1GB model! The other MP3 player I had was too difficult to navigate with the tiny 2 line screen - and the Zen V has a 1.5" Organic LED screen. It's charging right now and I think I can live with 1GB for a while - until they replace the apple Ipods that are currently available - as I would love to get one of those but want greater storage and lower prices - or a 30GB ZUNE under $100. I just wanna carry a dozen CDs worth of music or CDs of a book - and I'm OK. Plus I'll probably keep a few precious pictures too on it!

Just a quick check in to say that I'm still hanging in there. I've had a little set back with the healing process and haven't been too happy about any of it, so it's just been easier to stay away then to come and complain.
Okay...truth is, I sleep all darn day. :rotfl:
I think these are minor set backs... but am seeing the doctor tomorrow so that we can implement Plan B. Whatever that is.

Take care everyone!

I'm sorry to hear of your progress - or lack of. However - again I'd like to offer well wishes and a bunch of pixie dust to keep things from going any slower.

It took me a couple of hours to finally ketchup. Been busy getting ready to travel. I'm really looking forward to the next five days in WDW with my daughters and granddaughter doing mostly food & wine. Then, two weeks up North. Two weeks in Delaware County (outside of Philly) helping my DD take DGS's room from baby time to "big boy room".

DH and I went down to Epcot to preview Food & Wine earlier this week. Looks like alot of great food, demonstrations and shows again this year. Here's a hint for any of you going to enjoy food & wine. Instead of using cash at the food stands put your dollars on a Disney gift card. It is much easier - they just swipe the card and no signature is needed. It is so much better than trying to juggle cash and all those little plates, silverware, napkins, and wine glasses.

The Disney/Hawaii story was on the 5 o'clock news today. DVC is really expanding. I know you guys on the west coast are happy. We were talking to one of the DVC reps about the new DVC tower they are building at the Contemporary. They still haven't been told when they will start selling those points. Some of those room are going to have a great view of the MK fireworks. The location also has the advantage of being only a short walk from the MK.

Well, I'd better get back to packing. Hope to check in later tonight before I go but for the next three weeks it will be hit or miss.

Barbara

Have a wonderful trip Barbara! I'm sure you're in for a memorable trip!

Hey Chicagoland People,

Looks like Angelina will be paying a visit your way come May 2008. Angelina's high school band and choir trip next Spring is to Chicago. Angelina brought home the intent form today. The kids are going to be kept very busy during the 5 day adventure, I got tired just reading what they will be doing. Here is a list of their activities: Hard Rock Cafe, Chicago tour w/Sears Tower, Wicked, Performances by band and choir at Jay Pritzker Pavillion in the Millennium Park, Grant Park & Buckingham Fountain, Blue Man Group, Shedd Aquarium, Lincoln Park Zoo & Conservatory, Wendella Sunset Cruise/Tour, Six Flags Great America and finally a shopping trip to the Magnificent Mile. Some trip huh?

We have already started with fundraisers to help defray the cost.

Past trips have been to Canada, Disneyland, Boston(twice) and London, England. This is Angelina's first trip with the group, she just joined the high school choir this year.

It sounds like Angelina has another wonderful trip in store!

Yes! As soon as the Yankees start loosing she changes the channel.

Channel Surfing eh?
body-move-fin.gif

Ummm... It's not me, but if I had to vote, I'd vote YES! Keeps the Yankees honest (or slows them down some).

And how about them Yankees?

The ticket lottery for the first week of performances, today through Wednesday, will take place at the Ford Center. Two hours before each performance, the winning entries will be drawn. This cake was too yummy not to pirate... besides - I figure it's gonna be difficult to find another ready made B-day cake given the circumstances!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TYREAK!

After doing some research this evening, I was able to book Hazel and I a room at a Travelodge near the Magnificent Mile in Chicago for two nights at a reasonable price. I'm going to wait a little bit for the airfare, I'm hoping I can get a good DING special from SW later on.

Crash--I did see the "Wicked" lottery ticket thingy this afternoon. We are going to see if we can get tix through the school. We have a Choir Parents meeting this coming Tuesday evening, we might be able to find out more info about the trip then. Angelina said last year about 40 parents went on the trip, but a lot of them didn't do the group tours, they went off and did their own thing. It's a possibility that some parents might not want to see "Wicked" so we might be able to use their tix for the show.

I highly recommend wicked!

Brendan and I saw it once one Broadway with original cast and saw it last week here in boston!

Amazing show!!!

Chrissie
