My first thought was "I Can't Believe It's Not Butter Spray"
But then I read the recipe & I can't figure out why you would use 0 calorie butter substitute in a recipe that concludes with "deep fry for 5 minutes". :confused3

I got my email back from the person who wrote the recipe and yes:
"that's the generic name for those squeeze bottle butters sold in supermarkets"

Hazel and I will not be able to make this trip. Once we receive the final plans on when their concert will be, I'll let you know. The trip is May 21-25, 2008 and a tentative schedule was sent home, but it is subject to change.

let us know and I'll mention it to Dan Murphy and the Chicago thread and we can have a Chicago Meet...

It took me a couple of hours to finally ketchup. Been busy getting ready to travel. I'm really looking forward to the next five days in WDW with my daughters and granddaughter doing mostly food & wine. Then, two weeks up North. Two weeks in Delaware County (outside of Philly) helping my DD take DGS's room from baby time to "big boy room".

DH and I went down to Epcot to preview Food & Wine earlier this week. Looks like alot of great food, demonstrations and shows again this year. Here's a hint for any of you going to enjoy food & wine. Instead of using cash at the food stands put your dollars on a Disney gift card. It is much easier - they just swipe the card and no signature is needed. It is so much better than trying to juggle cash and all those little plates, silverware, napkins, and wine glasses.

The Disney/Hawaii story was on the 5 o'clock news today. DVC is really expanding. I know you guys on the west coast are happy. We were talking to one of the DVC reps about the new DVC tower they are building at the Contemporary. They still haven't been told when they will start selling those points. Some of those room are going to have a great view of the MK fireworks. The location also has the advantage of being only a short walk from the MK.

Well, I'd better get back to packing. Hope to check in later tonight before I go but for the next three weeks it will be hit or miss.

Barbara

Barbara - I am so envious. This is Cdn Thanks Giving Weekend and for the past two years my family left for WDW on the Friday. This is sort of a sad day for us because we feel like we should be leaving. Instead I am cooking Thanks Giving Dinner for 14 people. I would really prefer to have ADR's at one of my favourite Disney Restaurants. I hope you have a great vacation.

Knowing a bunch of you are selling Scout Popcorn during the dangerous popcorn dust scare, (anyone want any, let me know),

this came from our leaders yesterday and was on news this a.m.

Please remove from your child's possession the progress toward rank totem ASAP. This is the Yellow and white diamond that the wolf and bear cubs hang from their right pocket. There is the possibility that they may contain unsafe levels of lead.

OY :confused3 Was that made in China as well? Or is there a US company messing up also?

Boy Scouts recall 1.6 million badges because of lead

DALLAS — A common badge awarded to young Boy Scouts is being recalled amid concerns of dangerous levels of lead.

As many as 1.6 million badges may be affected by the voluntary recall.

Boy Scouts of America spokesman Gregg Shields says a supply of plastic totem badges, usually given to Cub Scouts between the ages of 7 and 8, contained unacceptable amounts of lead during product testing.

Sheilds says no illnesses have been reported.

Shields say the badges are supplied by Georgia-based Kahoot Products and made in China. Kahoot is calling for a voluntary recall of the badge and asking parents to take them away from their children.

Oh My............

Hazel and I had a long chat this morning. We are thinking about taking a shorter 3 day trip to Chicago next May. We really want to be there to support Angelina and the rest of the band and choir kids at the concert they will be giving. We didn't want to do all the other stuff that they are doing, except maybe going to see Wicked, I've heard a lot of great things about the show. I guess I will need to do a little bit of research on Chicago!!! ;)

Sorry, Tyreak, that wasn't some of my best work. But the sentiment is there.

HOPE YOU HAVE A GREAT BIRTHDAY!!!

I wasn't going to post this because of the public nature of the boards, but in light of the recent discussions, here goes:

Had to drop out of chat suddenly on Friday. DS began telling me all the ways he had thought about harming himself that day. He didn't want to get in trouble anymore and decided if he killed himself, he wouldn't get in trouble. Spent that evening in the ER where the head of child psychology determined he was fit to go home. The thoughts (no actions so far, just expressing his thoughts) of hurting himself kept up all weekend, and intensified when we were meeting with his psychiatrist yesteray. They admitted him to the ER right away and finally found a spot at a crisis facility late that evening.

For now he's in for a minimum of 3 days. The doctors will determine if he needs to be in longer. They are already telling me that 3 days is usually not enough time to do a good evaluation.

While I'm devastated that my son was so distraught to think of hurting himself, I am so relieved that he never acted on those thoughts. And I am encouraged that maybe we can finally get all the agression, disobedience, and apparently depression under control.

Monica, so sorry to read this, but as others have said, I'm really glad that your son felt comfortable enough to tell you about his feelings. Please know that you are both in our prayers.

OK, Sara & I have discussed this, and we've decided that we will (on one of the sea days) have a

Hawaiian Shirt Contest

Just for us DISers. Sara and I will be primary judges and prizes will be given in the various categories - children, matched sets, off the rack, custom, best themed, etc (we're still working on them).

GRAND PRIZE

will be a Hawaiian shirt made to measure by Sara from a fabric of your choice (you have to buy the fabric & Sara will turn it into a shirt)...

Anyone interested in volunteering to judge, please PM me or Sara.

What a fun idea! I have a few Hawaiin shirts that will probably find a way into my suitcases (if DW decides that there's room for some of my clothes!)

I just wanted to let everyone know Castoff alias Tina will be having surgery on Friday. She wanted me to tell everyone she will be back. She has been busy handling some medical problems. I know if any of you will include her in your prayers, she would love it.:cloud9:

Keeping Tina in my thoughts and prayers for her surgery today.

Have you all seen the new Palo menu posted on the main board? OMG I'm hungry!!!

I haven't even checked it out yet and my mouth is watering!

I'm posting this one because it's come up several times. I haven't used it because - well - I just don't get it. So, I'm coming to our ever so helpful community for help. Could someone PLEASE explain it to me??

Why do Pirates wear eye patches?

Chuck Norris

Just color me confused.

I don't get it either. Anyone???:confused3

Just bought the M's Halloween costumes. Their costumes are doing double duty - this Halloween and the TOAL. Megan is going to be the pirate Elizabeth Swann and Miranda is the oriental Elizabeth Swann. Did not get the greatest deal, but I got 'em.
Another thing down.

Thats's our plan too. We picked up the Oriental Elizabeth Swann costume for Hailey for Halloween. I'm hoping she doesn't grow too much over the next year. We would have gone to the next size up but it was way too big for her to wear for Halloween this year.

 I have been thinking of another sea day activity when Mike brought up the Hawaiian shirt contest. Last Christmas, I made pirate maps up with clues on each and hid them around the house. Each map had a clue to where the next map was located. The final prize was a small treasure chest with our tickets to WDW/Wonder trip this summer. The girls thought this was the greatest gift ever, not the trip but the scavenger hunt.

Could we plan our own Pirate Scavenger Hunt on a sea day? Maybe with teams and maps (clues) to where the next map or item was located? With the whole ship at our disposal it could be a lot of fun. I know DCL has there own scavenger hunt, but we could put a pirate twist to it. All of you creative pirates out there can come up with some more ideas for this. :confused3 I would be happy to make the maps before we leave.

That sounds like a great idea Roger. We love scavenger hunts.

Doing Great , Thanks For asking ...3 1/2 weeks smoke free

pirate:

Once again, Congratulations Todd!!! Keep up the great work. You've got a whole crew here behind you, Captain!!

Just a quick check in to say that I'm still hanging in there. I've had a little set back with the healing process and haven't been too happy about any of it, so it's just been easier to stay away then to come and complain.
Okay...truth is, I sleep all darn day. :rotfl:
I think these are minor set backs... but am seeing the doctor tomorrow so that we can implement Plan B. Whatever that is.

Take care everyone!

Good to hear from you Stace. Wish it was with better news. Hope Plan B works out for you and that you're feeling better soon!

Happy Birthday Tyreak!

Happy Birthday Tyreak!

Sorry for any groundhogs. I think I'm all ketchup'ed. It was a really rough week at school, with exams, a quiz, a final, and a paper. Next week will be a little crazy too, and then things spread out a little bit more again.

To add to the excitement, while I was at work last night, DW called to tell me that Nick(DS8) fell of the monkey bars and hurt both wrists. I came home and she took him to the ER. Turns out he broke his arm, but luckily it was only one (the one he writes with, of course) and it's only broken in one place. He has a hard plastic immobilizer, and I'll take him for his cast next Tuesday. I guess that's the end of soccer for Nick for this year.

I'll try to pop in for chat tonight. I really enjoy talking to everybody. But I may just fall alseep out of exhaustion from last night's near all-nighter. I'm getting too old for this college stuff. Thank goodness this is my last year of classes. I'll be sooooo ready to celebrate by the TOAL!!
