:lmao: Let me ask, Debra or Deborah? I'm Debra.

Deborah - pronounced Da-bore-ah when my mother was mad at me. Was spelled Debbie until 7th grade, when I decided I wanted to be different, and changed it.

Thanks Maureen, it's good to be back, and actually able to keep up for the past 2 days...Anyway, the shop is off Arthur Kill Road, not too far from the Outerbridge. It is 62 Androvette Street, here is the website with directions, phone # etc, so you can even call me at the store if you need directions www.alexianasscrappincottage.com.

I am doing a show down in South Jersey next weekend, the StampScrapArt Tour and then the Scrapbook Expo out at Hofstra University the first weekend in September.

Debi

LOL I guess thats why I didnt see it.
I keep meaning to come on over, so I can get some stuff for my fishextender and some other projects (that sit in the closet) I will get there before the TOAL ...

:rotfl2: I went from Debbie to Debi in the 10th grade(1973). I hated being called Debra as a kid,the kids would call me Dee-Bra.

Joel.....I love your new avatar!

Thanks! Thought that with football season coming up, I needed to show my allegiance (Go OU!). Plan now for the post-meet at the 'Shoe on Sept. 6, 2008 to watch the Frank Solich led Ohio Bobcats upset Jim Tressel's boys.:teeth:

(Hey....It's kind of like buying a lottery ticket, you can dream for awhile and then it's back to reality when the ball drops.) :cool2:

Can someone help me with a quick passport question? I'm sure it's a dumb question, but I'm new to the whole passport process.

What happens if your name is spelled wrong on your birth certificate?

When I was born, my mom wasn't allowed to fill out the forms.:confused3 She told the nurse how she wanted my name spelled, but the "woman" wouldn't listen. Instead of spelling it LaTanya she spelled it LaTonya.

It's spelled correctly on all other document (SS card, permit, insurance policies...)

Am I right in assuming I'll have to get it legally changed before applying for our passports?

Look in you phone dook for federal offices there should be a # to call and ask them. I know that if your ID and tickets to board an airplane don't match it will cause you some small problem but the airline can fix it at the ticket counter. Passports are probaly a little trickyer but with the current backlog of apps. I would act sooner rather than later.

Sorry...though I tried, I certainly can't replace Crash [chuckles]

Hi Ya -
Wow - Tom - Cap'n Crash - is still in Hawaii - yes? Sure do miss him. His sense of humor & graphics are priceless!

Hey - you GIRLS - (35 -40 - almost 50 - hahahahaha) - been there done that - enjoy - you're all young'uns!!!!!!!!!!!! AND I do mean enjoy. Raising kids is a tough job - but trust me - before you know it they are grown & gone. While you're doing a Wonderful job raising them - take time to enjoy them. And - take a moment to reflect - the big picture - my DH always says - "don't sweat the small stuff." I'm talking here of 2 grown children & (oh surprise) 3 grandkids.

(BTW - Debi - loved your pics - you're still looking good kiddo!!)

oh - and passports - Shelley - I suggest that you go to the fed passport office in person now. (given national security - passports will be required) If you have any problems - one of my law school buddies is an immigration atty - let me know!!

I'm now going back to packing - Tuesday is looming CLOSE - So is Paris!!

Hey, you did pretty good IMO!

We don't need

tonight.
Oh I beg to differ. We always need him!

Hi Ya -

Thank you for the concern but I don't even know where a fed passport office would be around here. Likely I'd have to drive to some bigger city an hour away (like Dallas or something) and I'm so NOT doing that right now a year out. Before we get passports, I have to be SURE we're going to be able to have enough saved to pay for the cruise! LOL
Besides, i'm hoping against all hope that this talk about extending the REQUIREMENT for passports on land/sea travel out of the country thru summer of 2008 will be late enough that we won't need it on this cruise. I'm not about to get a passport now and then find out it wasn't even necessary. That's a lot of money for our family of 5.

Looks like we have some conflicting info- a few people are scaring me to death that it's going to be a problem getting a passport with my BC spelled slightly different than my SS/DL/etc. and others are like it's no big deal. That's how life always is huh? LOL

Although once all the dust settles with the new passports...I'm forcing J/Jay to apply for a new one, and use his whole entire name....and maybe add the middle initial.

Somewhere out there is a wanted felon by the name of James......*same last name as ours*........ and so far, customs has stopped us twice because of it. If my MR. Stubborn would just put the whole Jay on there, we wouldn't keep getting stopped!

And the first time we were stopped was before 9-11-01.

I would not walk but run to the passport office.:thumbsup2 I applied April 11 and it took exactly 16 weeks to get mine.:sad2: This was after I told the agency I was leaving for a cruise soon. I herad nothing for 14 weeks. I had to call the agency 5 times to have it expedited. My application went to the New Hamshire office where the overflow was given to process. The office was closed til July 1st and just started processing the applications there. My forms were just sitting at this office for over 12 weeks. No one has control of what office the passport will be processed from. I was told by the New Hamshire office "the applications could take up to 10 more weeks if I did not call".:rolleyes1 Total time would be 26 weeks to get passport.

47 and still feel like a kid...hard to believe I am pushing 50...age is just a number. It's not the years in your life, but the life in your years that count (Abe Lincoln).
Debi

You are so right ....age is just a number. I just wish mine was a number in the 30's again.:lmao: :lmao:

I would call the agency to check. Read above post to see what happened to me. There is an 800 number on the web site to call.:flower3:

you know... hadn't thought about it but DITTO!
Same exact situation here. Mine is one letter off- similar to yours except it's a letter missing (Shelly on BC, Shelley on SS/DL/Etc.) They didn't give me any trouble at all with DL and BC on the last cruise- but I'm not sure how it's going to work with passports. (yet another reason I hope they don't require passports past the point of this cruise. ;) )

I am not so sure the government will extend again. I would call the 800 number and ask questions first before you send anything in.:flower3:

I am guilty too!!! I miss Crash. :sad2: I hope the hurricane does NOT interrupt his fun!!:goodvibes

What are you still doing talking on the boards?:confused3 Do not stop and proceed immediately to pack!!;) Have a great time and give Mickey a hug from me!!!

Anyways, didn't mean to bring everyone down. So on to happier things.
How was your day? ;)
Thought I would post a pic of one of my favorite "sayings". It is soo true!

P1000409.jpg

I've always said that dogs are great training for kids.... These rules could *so* apply to my toddler. That and "if I ever saw/played with/wanted one it's mine."

I had a "life lesson" at a young age that nipped any chance of me ever becoming an alcoholic.... a life lesson thru my MOM.

Hurray for you! for learining the lesson & :grouphug: for having something so awful happen at such an early age.

Totally freaked out here now. I leave in about 18 hours. Bags are all packed, except for the carry on. Still need to make copies of all the important papers and stuff and finish up some door magnets.

Have a great trip, Monica. We'll be here when you get back.

Why can't he just go straight to the Baaahhhrrr1:confused3

'cause you need loot to pay for the drinks. :rolleyes1

Side note....they never let us Moms fill out the info for the birth certificate. Maybe they think our handwriting would be bad, I don't know...:confused3 ....but a nurse or hospital aide filled out all 3 of my kids'.

Mebbe that used to be the case, but when DD was born (in '03) they made us fill out the paperwork. I remember because DH wanted to know how I wanted to spell her middle name (MacKenzie).

Thank you for the concern but I don't even know where a fed passport office would be around here.
BIP, usually there's a passport office in the main post office. You could call & ask if the name thing will cause any issues - that way if you have to get passports, you'll already know what steps you need to take to make sure the name on the passport is spelled right.

DD & I had a great day today - we went over to her Aunt & Uncle's new house (with its new swimming pool) and hung out with them and her 16 year old cousin. DD *so* wants to be able to swim. She wore her mini-wetsuit with floats in it, so she got to dog paddle around by herself (mostly) for a while. She loved it.

Sara, You mean drinks are not free on DCL?? :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I wanted to say something profound for my 1000th post on this thread but instead I just kept on talking!!!:rotfl2:

There's a passport office in every post office even in small towns? Well I did not know that... LOL

Don't remind me. LOL
I just turned 38 and that's how old my MOM WAS when I got married. I really don't like to think about that.. cause I thought she was practically ANCIENT when I got married. Yet I don't feel ancient... i still feel like a big kid. LOL (and I tell ya what- I can't even imagine having a daughter getting married at my age now! I'm not even sure I can handle it when the time comes- hopefully many years from now LOL)

Wow, My Mom was 38 when I was born!!! I've never thought of my Mom as the age she is, she is so much younger than 70. She has more energy than I have. But I'm 32 and definitely still feel like a kid!!! I still get set at the kids table during holidays :p
