You might all already be aware of this, if so I apologize as I was away on the Magic, but 2008 resort packages for Disneyland are now out, and I have just booked through DREAMS, a pre cruise stay, for four days staying at the Disneyland hotel, on-site.

Now need to book flights in September.

So if you are going to Disney before our cruise you can book now!

Can't hardly wait to book the flights. :woohoo: That makes the trip more of a reality.

You can tell from the pictures I was early in the queue, and was able to take a lot of pictures before people 'destroyed' the works of art. There are servers around to help you and I think they are fully trained jugglers. I presume you take from the top, ......slowly, like a game of Jenga.
Ah, I see.

Hi -
My DD was returning from vacation today - she just called to say apparently a computer crash (or?) at LAX - she's in Chicago and her flight was cancelled & she can't get any flight to LAX or to the west coast period.
She's got a great attitude - they've never been to Chicago so she's calling it an adventure. A real adventure as her luggage stays at the airport!!!
What a mess!!
Oh no! :(
that's exactly what I was thinking. Now if they have that on the repo, I'm going to be chanting....Jenga...Jenga...Jenga :rotfl:

:lmao: (me too)

Can someone help me with a quick passport question? I'm sure it's a dumb question, but I'm new to the whole passport process.

What happens if your name is spelled wrong on your birth certificate?

When I was born, my mom wasn't allowed to fill out the forms.:confused3 She told the nurse how she wanted my name spelled, but the "woman" wouldn't listen. Instead of spelling it LaTanya she spelled it LaTonya.

It's spelled correctly on all other document (SS card, permit, insurance policies...)

Am I right in assuming I'll have to get it legally changed before applying for our passports?

you know... hadn't thought about it but DITTO!
Same exact situation here. Mine is one letter off- similar to yours except it's a letter missing (Shelly on BC, Shelley on SS/DL/Etc.) They didn't give me any trouble at all with DL and BC on the last cruise- but I'm not sure how it's going to work with passports. (yet another reason I hope they don't require passports past the point of this cruise. ;) )

BTW Peter....Are you going to leave a list of names at guard shack and/or send PM's so we know your real last name or do we just tell the guard your DIS name and laugh....

Guard shack? Are you talking about getting onto the WL property (by car)? Or is there a "guard shack" for the DVC? (remember I am a blonde!!LOL)

My name is corrrectly spelled on my BC but NOT my SS/DL too many letters....

Not necessarily. This isn't exactly the same situation, but my husband's name on his birth certificate is JAY. He only uses the initial "J". He entered just a "J" on his passport application, and sent his birth certificate, and they sent back the new passport with the name reading as just a "J".

I'd fill out the passport forms with the spelling you want...with an "a"...and see if they don't just do it that way for you. They may not question it at all. I'd be willing to bet that a LOT of people don't use the same spelling as what's on their birth certificate.

Side note....they never let us Moms fill out the info for the birth certificate. Maybe they think our handwriting would be bad, I don't know...:confused3 ....but a nurse or hospital aide filled out all 3 of my kids'.

My Mom (and her parents) was named and called Beverly LOUISE all her life. Her parents named her after her Aunt Louise. I named MY daughter after my mom and Aunt Louise.
Come to find out, when we got my Mom's birth certificate so that we could get her a passport....her real name is Beverly Lorraine.
That was the first time she'd ever heard that......and I'm willing to bet it was done by some nurse who couldn't spell Louise!!

Do you have a passport? And if so, any problems getting it?

Stacey, that's good to know. I'm just wondering now if it will take extra long to get the passport and if at that point there would be a problem that took more time/etc.
Does your husband have J on his SS, DL and such?

I'm not even sure what you send in with BC- but if you have to send in other documents-I'll go by the spelling everything (but the BC) is and hope they don't notice that it's spelled without the E on the birth certificate. If it's only the BC- then I don't know what. I was going to say I'd just apply with the spelling that is on the BC but then once you have a passport- do you have to show it with other form of documentation when boarding? (like SS or DL?) because at that point then my documents wouldn't "match" on the spelling of the names. ugh

Andrew,

Just curious. Did the Disney Mediterranean cruises (at least yours) seem to have a high draw for Europeans? Kind of wondered if Disney was attracting the European crowd to their cruiseline, or if it seemed to be more Americans who liked the benefits of a European Vacation AND Disney Cruise all wrapped up in one.

Thanks.

Joel.....I love your new avatar!

Yes, he does. Ever since he was old enough to apply for anything, he's always used just the "J".
Except, I forced him to apply and sign our marriage license with the full "Jay". :rotfl2: No way did I want him coming back later saying it wasn't legal!!

And now, lately, I've been filling his name in on things with the full Jay. I got tired of explaining it to people....."Well, it's actually Jay, but he goes by J...."

But when you apply for the passport, you only send in the birth certificate and that's all he did and they still sent it back with just the "J" on it.

If it's just the one letter, like your "e" and LaTanya's "a", I especially don't think it will be a problem at all.

To everyone who is leaving for vacation in the next few days...

Have a great trip...Be safe....Take lots of pictures and please share them upon your return!

Although once all the dust settles with the new passports...I'm forcing J/Jay to apply for a new one, and use his whole entire name....and maybe add the middle initial.

Somewhere out there is a wanted felon by the name of James......*same last name as ours*........ and so far, customs has stopped us twice because of it. If my MR. Stubborn would just put the whole Jay on there, we wouldn't keep getting stopped!

And the first time we were stopped was before 9-11-01.

I'm on the list to call when they install the fiber optics in my neighborhood. :yay: :surfweb:

Maybe I can look into it for ya......
PM me your area code and the first 3 digits of your phone number.
I should be able to access the deployment list for your state.
I might at least be able to give you a rough idea.

Chrissie:lmao:

Yes by car.... I am staying off-site (i know:scared1:) this trip in a 2 bedroom condo (for the 3 of us). i kinda am outta points at the moment and the condo thing was dirt cheap. ($169 - and we get $100 back when we get there. No tour required. Works for me.)

Each resort hotel has a guard shack where they'll ask why you are at that resort (to check-in, to visit, to dine, etc...)

Been some time since I posted on this board, but yes we are still travelling with you. Now that we are just a little more than a year out, maybe I can get back in and try to keep up with you. :rotfl: :rotfl: Keep up, yeah right like that will happen.

When we booked this trip, it seemed so far away, now a year doesn't seem so bad...lol.

Debi

Welcome Back.......I was just thinking of you (was driving on Veterans Rd and was looking for the scrappin place...I didnt see it) I was thinking to myself Debi hasnt been on the boards in a while. Glad to see you back and that youre still cruisin...

I would STRONGLY suggest that you apply NOW rather than waiting. If they decide the misspellings are an issue, you would probably want a year to settle it out instead of having a fully paid for TOAL in less than 90 days. Plus if you can't get them to do it right, do you need to change your name with DCL, as their manifest needs to be same as passports???

Outta points at moment is a permanent state of being for us.... glad we can borrow....

Bring your DVC card, they should clear you to pool hop??

Or just say you are there to dine at _____ restaurant

Don't remind me. LOL
I just turned 38 and that's how old my MOM WAS when I got married. I really don't like to think about that.. cause I thought she was practically ANCIENT when I got married. Yet I don't feel ancient... i still feel like a big kid. LOL (and I tell ya what- I can't even imagine having a daughter getting married at my age now! I'm not even sure I can handle it when the time comes- hopefully many years from now LOL)

47 and still feel like a kid...hard to believe I am pushing 50...age is just a number. It's not the years in your life, but the life in your years that count (Abe Lincoln).

Thanks Maureen, it's good to be back, and actually able to keep up for the past 2 days...Anyway, the shop is off Arthur Kill Road, not too far from the Outerbridge. It is 62 Androvette Street, here is the website with directions, phone # etc, so you can even call me at the store if you need directions www.alexianasscrappincottage.com.

I am doing a show down in South Jersey next weekend, the StampScrapArt Tour and then the Scrapbook Expo out at Hofstra University the first weekend in September.
