Awww shucks! I so wanna go back to Paris for a week or so. However... I can't go anywhere international for a while as 2 of our passports have expired and we've been lazy about renewing them. So we're incarcerated domestically.

Above was taken at Gare Du Nord after a chunnel crossing in Paris a long time ago. Below is a photo of our oldest daughter at the end of her first flight anywhere (it was LA to WDC) as the flight crew were nice enough to let me go up front with her to pose for a photo!

Oh Tom - that pic of you two in the cap'n seat is adorable.

First time in Paris - excited doesn't even begin to describe!!

:wave2: Everyone - back from Never-NeverLand for a moment. Just wanted to let everyone know that I am still alive. Going crazy as we are in the last vestiges of trying to pack. I say trying as I still haven't even opened the suitcase although I have mentally packed and unpacked several times.

I am getting excited and even more excited to possible catch up with all those going on the Repo. Although, sorry if I missed this - does anyone know what the weather might be like on the 6 days at sea in August?

DH just got me some black short UGG boots that I'm considering taking since my feet get cold a lot in cool weather. Think they can pass for cruise casual?

Anyway, just checking in - have decided to only go back 5 pages and that was done in like 3 minutes.

What's up with that?

OK - countdown for me is in the single digits now - panic is starting to set in and I'm considering blogging my whole entire trip
-

Remember - I will not be returning until Sept 5th - :woohoo: and this is serious first time of going alone - no more family after the 15th of Aug until the 18th when we board and I see familiar faces.

I have recently begun asking myself - Am I ?

Laura,

You are most definately NOT crazy! I would so love to do the route you're travelin'. But I can't at the moment. My spouse is out of town and I got two little ones to look after - and we're lite two passports too (as previously mentioned) ... like we'd drop everythin] to go ... right!?

Anyway... your upcoming trip sounds like you've got something quite nice in "the works", eh?

In my 8 cabins worth of family and friends we have one GP, 3 Optimolotists, one Endocrinologist, a 7 board MD (pediatrician, pediatric critical care, pulminologist, pediatic pulminologist, Internal Medicine, MPH + something else I can't recall WHAT now), plus one retired chest surgeon. So if anyone wants a casual consult within one of these specialites perhaps we can arrange something. Oh... if anyone wants a financial consult - I might be able to arrange something on my calandar too... However in my case "past results are no guarantee of future preformance" <chuckles>....

PS... if anyone wants a archectectural consult - we have a "doctor" of archectectural design (teaches at UCLA) along too. However, let me warn you that he may be sort of expensive to sit with. I mayself am still trying to figure out what it will cost me to have him do some design work for me (if you're reading this Judy - have your husband give me a call - chuckles).

But Tom, Mike is in Pharmacy School. I know that we have at least two clinical pharmacist on board to help conduct his clinical rotations.

OK everyone - I am now down to 9 days before sailing, getting last minute details and appts out but just wanted to drop you all a line and tell you that I took the plunge!

I will ATTEMPT - I repeat - ATTEMPT to blog as I may not write down anything but I can certainly type and I want some concrete written memories - and if I know that people are reading - I'm more apt to follow through.

However, keep in mind that I am a Schlep-rock with things electronic so bear with me if the blog seems juvenile - for it will be - the simpler the better.

Here is the link - if anyone else is interested, our thread - the Rome-ancing the Mouse Cruise has started a thread under Trip Reports for several of us that are blogging, so if anyone is interested - go there and looks us up!

Anyway, hope things go well, Capt Crash - thanks for the encouragement - I still can't believe that the time is almost here BTW - I just  your picture of you and your oldest in the cockpit - the Capt's Hat suits you to a tee! And I can't help but notice how curious your DD is even at that early age! :rotfl2:

OK - here's the link - the boards are about to go down and I must post one more place:

I hope you get a chance to check it out sometime, I will try and post when I can and if I figure out how to post pictures - I will do those too - I meant once I'm traveling. OK here's the name:

Ahhh....

... I see. You figure we could sort of lump our cabins in one corner of the ship and sort of open a clinic of sorts? I'd be happy to handle the marketing and manage the money. My customary fees will apply though... did you see my schedule of royalties posted for Andrews' edification? Well... my fees are semi-similar! <chuckles>

Well... I regret to say that all the folks in my party (myself included) are gonna be mentally "out to lunch" weel before we embark and for potentially a day or two following debarkation! SO I for one would not want to start a clinic on the ship.

As for the clinical rotations - are we not in need of subjects (patients) to play... er, rather work with? Who we gonna get... oh - I know... we'll start with all the "innocent" ones... right? :lmao:

:wave2: Hi there!

Food porn. A recurring thread theme....:lmao:

Of course.........:lmao: :lmao:

Is Brooke the now almost 14yo?

I'm sure my 14yo dd would like to talk to other kids prior.

She's a myspace junkie lately and links up with kids there from her school and stuff there.

We're getting so excited....It's close to bursting at times...

Yes That's her, I will PM you her email address and please have your DD email her back. Brooke also is into myspace...............I keep and :3dglasses eye on it though.

Happy Monday! I just finished Ketchup from the weekend.

We were really busy with our town festival this weekend. On Saturday we took DS8 and the kid next door to the carnival for $15 wristband time. It wasn't at all crowded and there was a nice breeze so we ended up staying much longer than planned. If the kids had been buying tickets for all the rides, they would have spent $63 each! (and people complain about Disney ticket prices?!? :confused3 ) I think we were there 3 or 4 hours. We walked home and rested for an hour or two and then walked back to meet MICMSE2003 and her DH who came for dinner and the fireworks. It was SO nice to meet them. We had a great time chatting!

On Sunday I had to do some grocery shopping and then we went to the parade. It is a fun social event here - we have lived here a long time so we see a lot of people we know. The parade lasts about an hour, and we are usually out there waiting for it about 1/2 to 3/4 of an hours early! Later, I gave in to DS8 and took him back to the carnival one last time (they were doing the wristbands again) - this time he went on the equivalent of $39 in rides. We got home only about 20 minutes before my parents were coming to dinner. Thankfully, DH does most of the cooking and had things well in hand. So, it was a very busy weekend with all of that. DH, who has way too much energy, also started building a stone retaining wall  !

I don't know how this week will go. My parents just left for the airport a few minutes ago and will be in Europe for the next 2 weeks (1 week vacation visit to our "sister city" and 1 week of business trip.) so I'll be running the office on my own. DS8 decided he would rather go to day camp than be at the office with just me - so I dropped him off this morning. This is the first time he has gone to day camp - he has gone to specific "camps" such as Art Camp, Nature Camp and Sports Camp but I don't know if this will be as structured as those were. I guess I'll find out when I pick him up this evening....

Pamela (pdarrah)

Wow I am tired just reading this. I thought I had been busy.:rotfl2:

What a great idea!! Will there be a sign-up for this like the secret Mickey?

Also, where would I find the measurements for a fish extender?

We can decide as a group as to what people want to do. I am easy going....

Have a great trip.:woohoo: I will get in touch with you about the SM when you get back.:)

Just had to repay you

I wouldn't expect anything less from a pirate: Hey at least I was thought of.:rotfl2: That's always a good feeling.

I want Fish Mail :yay: But no number here....yet.

No problem, I could start a list or we could come up with a special little thing to put on your door if you want fish mail?
Not to :stir: anything...............we could do this through PM if people feel more comfortable.

I still have no idea what we want to do for excursions. We did the MR the last time the Magic was in California, and took private sail excursions out to snorkel.
The family is going on the MR again in June, & I haven't asked them yet if they want to snorkel again. There didn't seem to be much to look at out there.

As for the Moms, I have no idea. :confused3 I DO know that we won't be doing any zip-line tours!!

I am with you on this one !:thumbsup2

Oh come on, I think it'll be fun! Although I will be medicated when we do this :scared1:

Sorry don't think there would be enough meds for me to do this.:rotfl2: :rotfl2: But hey have fun.:thumbsup2 :rotfl2:

Hi everyone!
I had a very good and very bad weekend.
We spent the weekend in a town about 3 hours away for my sides family reunion. Had an absolutely wonderful time!
For the 1st time my MiL had come to my family reunion. She had traveled w/ my extended family before so my family asked her to come. She had a lot of fun too.
On the way back from the reunion we were caravanning w/ 4 cars back to Dallas. My MiL's sister and her family had lived in this very small town (pop 700) between Dallas and Abilene (where the reunion was). My MiL wanted us to stop in this town to have lunch at this one place she said was very good and since it was only 5 miles off the road, we went.
While we were waiting for our food, my 2 neices (age 18 and 16) went to look around. My oldest neice came back and said she had trouble getting back to the restaurant because a train was stopped that was not there originally. Then she told us there was someone was hit by the train a block away. We thought "how terrible". Then the waitress asks to see my MiL at the front of the restaurant. Turns out her BiL was the one hit by the train. It apparantly happened right after we got there. MiL and DH run to the scene and turns out the body was still on the ground, etc. Horrible!
My poor MiL has to call her neices and tell them what happened to their Dad. If anyone had to give them news like that, it was good to hear from their Aunt whom they were very close to. But extaremely hard on my MiL.
There was 1 daughter they could not reach. My DH went to a conveniece store to get his Mom something to drink since she is devastated and the 3rd DD was there. Here she sees her cousin who lives 2 hours away in her town. DH had to be the one to tell her and she just fell apart. Poor Bill.
Anyway it was a train track that had a stopped train on it so he drove around and there was another train coming. Killed him instantly, thankfully.
Just a horrible situation except every one agrees he would have wanted to go quickly and not gotten sick and lingered.
Not to be a downer but what a bizarre coincedence.

I am sooooo sorry for you & your family.:grouphug: You will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Well Butter my buns and call me a biscuit Happy Early 45th Birthday!! I'll hit the Big 5-0 this year myself.

My DH ( Chuck ) will be turning the big 50 next July............the 26th to be exact and he doesn't think we should celebrate his b-day on cruise because it's past..............I have news for him.:rotfl2:
