I still have no idea what we want to do for excursions. We did the MR the last time the Magic was in California, and took private sail excursions out to snorkel.
The family is going on the MR again in June, & I haven't asked them yet if they want to snorkel again. There didn't seem to be much to look at out there.

As for the Moms, I have no idea. :confused3 I DO know that we won't be doing any zip-line tours!!

What'sa matta, er ya skirred?

Hi!

I'm new to this thread. My husband two sons (10 & 7) are booked on this cruise too. Just found this thread. I will check through most of it out and then ask my questions. I don't want to duplicate anything. Just excited to be here.

Welcome aboard! So may I ask how you got your reservation? Were you calling in the morning like some of us or did you have an agile TA do it for ya?

Hi everyone!
I had a very good and very bad weekend.
..... Poor Bill.
Anyway it was a train track that had a stopped train on it so he drove around and there was another train coming. Killed him instantly, thankfully.
Just a horrible situation except every one agrees he would have wanted to go quickly and not gotten sick and lingered.
Not to be a downer but what a bizarre coincedence
.

Needless to say however this news is extremely shocking... and sad. May I offer our family's prayers and sympathy for your family.

Welcome aboard! There are going to be lots of kids around those ages on our cruise. My oldest son turns 10 in a few weeks, and i have boy/girl twins turning 8 in Sept.

Don't be afraid to pop in and ask any questions.

Good Morning All :thumbsup2
I guess Brooke and I have been having to much fun playing tourists.:rotfl2: Now it's time to get some work done.:laundy: I just got the last form in the mail so I can finish the process to get Brooke into her new school.

Are we still planning on doing the secret mickey? I told Brooke about it and she really wants to participate in that.

I also talked her into helping me delivering my fish mail.:rolleyes1 Oh that will take some time. Any ideas on numbers here? Believe it or not we started working on our fish mail yesterday.:goodvibes

It's o.k if people don't want to have anything to do with this..............example giving out cabin numbers ect.

My mom always taught me it was better to give then to receive.:)

We're very interested in fish mail and Secret Mickey. I figured we'd better wait until closer and i knew for sure that my school wasn't going to give me any grief about going. I already got a verbal OK, but now they're revamping our clinical rotations and adding an extra week to each rotation. Keep your fingers crossed for me that everything still works out.

Hi everyone!
I had a very good and very bad weekend.
We spent the weekend in a town about 3 hours away for my sides family reunion. Had an absolutely wonderful time!
For the 1st time my MiL had come to my family reunion. She had traveled w/ my extended family before so my family asked her to come. She had a lot of fun too.
On the way back from the reunion we were caravanning w/ 4 cars back to Dallas. My MiL's sister and her family had lived in this very small town (pop 700) between Dallas and Abilene (where the reunion was). My MiL wanted us to stop in this town to have lunch at this one place she said was very good and since it was only 5 miles off the road, we went.
While we were waiting for our food, my 2 neices (age 18 and 16) went to look around. My oldest neice came back and said she had trouble getting back to the restaurant because a train was stopped that was not there originally. Then she told us there was someone was hit by the train a block away. We thought "how terrible". Then the waitress asks to see my MiL at the front of the restaurant. Turns out her BiL was the one hit by the train. It apparantly happened right after we got there. MiL and DH run to the scene and turns out the body was still on the ground, etc. Horrible!
My poor MiL has to call her neices and tell them what happened to their Dad. If anyone had to give them news like that, it was good to hear from their Aunt whom they were very close to. But extaremely hard on my MiL.
There was 1 daughter they could not reach. My DH went to a conveniece store to get his Mom something to drink since she is devastated and the 3rd DD was there. Here she sees her cousin who lives 2 hours away in her town. DH had to be the one to tell her and she just fell apart. Poor Bill.

So sorry to hear about this. Your family will be in our prayers.

Thanks for checking about the Hep A

Do I need to RSVP that I am going on Sunday? Last night, Eric was asking what we were going to do next weekend.. and I mentioned that I was going to Pompei on Sunday.. for a Cruise DIS meet. He asked if DH was going( thinking that if DH went that he would have to go) as Geoff has his last driving lesson.

Maybe they will show up.. but then I won't hold me breath.. The only positive for DH is that we have coupons from the entertainment book for Pompei.. maybe that will convince him since he can save some money..LOL

No I was just making another announcement just in case there were some lookers(lurkers) somewhere out near chicago.:confused3

:welcome: :welcome: Glad to see you joined our happy group!!! Don't worry about duplicating, we all do it!!! (like Groundhog Day the movie):rotfl:

Happy Monday! I just finished Ketchup from the weekend.

We were really busy with our town festival this weekend. On Saturday we took DS8 and the kid next door to the carnival for $15 wristband time. It wasn't at all crowded and there was a nice breeze so we ended up staying much longer than planned. If the kids had been buying tickets for all the rides, they would have spent $63 each! (and people complain about Disney ticket prices?!? :confused3 ) I think we were there 3 or 4 hours. We walked home and rested for an hour or two and then walked back to meet MICMSE2003 and her DH who came for dinner and the fireworks. It was SO nice to meet them. We had a great time chatting!

Pamela (pdarrah)

Pamela, You beat me to it. We had such a great time meeting you, Dan and DS ( I know how to finally pronouce it).:rotfl: If this is a small sample of who is on our thread, we are all blessed!!!!:cloud9::flower3:

:wave2: Everyone - back from Never-NeverLand for a moment. Just wanted to let everyone know that I am still alive. Going crazy as we are in the last vestiges of trying to pack. I say trying as I still haven't even opened the suitcase although I have mentally packed and unpacked several times.

I am getting excited and even more excited to possible catch up with all those going on the Repo. Although, sorry if I missed this - does anyone know what the weather might be like on the 6 days at sea in August?

OK - countdown for me is in the single digits now - panic is starting to set in and I'm considering blogging my whole entire trip -

Remember - I will not be returning until Sept 5th - :woohoo: and this is serious first time of going alone - no more family after the 15th of Aug until the 18th when we board and I see familiar faces.

I have recently begun asking myself - Am I ?

Yes you are :crazy2: We all are too!!!:goodvibes Remember DTD on September 3 at 2 or 3 pm. Have a great trip!!!

Oh come on, I think it'll be fun! Although I will be medicated when we do this :scared1:

These is not enough medication for me to take to do a zipline!!!! :lmao:

Have fun!!!! That's my 45th b-day!!!!! :goodvibes

I will just have to remeber!!! I hope you are feeling better. :flower3:

In 30 days we'll more or less be flying back from Honolulu - the parting view might be something like this if the clouds are "just right".... we're departing for Oahu in a couple of weeks... still working out a few minor details and we're making plans for the next visit to Honolulu... probably in December more or less.

WaikikiBeach25.jpg

Our modest hotel is somewhere near the exact center of the photo at the end of hotel row... we might have a spectacular view of Diamond head off slightly right of center in the photo above. We're looking forward to spending time with family and old friends on this trip.

Well Butter my buns and call me a biscuit Happy Early 45th Birthday!! I'll hit the Big 5-0 this year myself.

MA0046.jpg

I'm in this range of age too... but I'll pass on the bun butterin' though... knowin' my spouse she'll take the butter as a sign I'm gainin' weight and can't fit into some of my jeans w/o the lubrication! And I don't need anymore dietary lectures from her (for now). So I guess this means I can be referred to occasionally as a biscuit.

Mike, if there is a problem we will hold clinical rotations on the Magic. We have 3-2nd year interns, 2-4th year interns doing clinical rotations and 2 residents currently in our hospital. You name the kind of rotation that you need and I will give you a months worth of knowledge. You get your rotation and vacation and I get (oh, did I forget to mention my price for preceptorship :smooth:) rum.

We like to stay at the Moana on Waikiki Beach.

In the last 20+ years of visitin' the islands we've mostly stayed with family. Our objectives have always been familiy oriented so it worked - we save money and had a much more efficient time of seeing everyone.

On this occasion we're just concentrating our time with a few special people - so on this occasion a near by hotel like the one we've choosen works best. Especially since we now have 2 kids who are a bit active at times.

Otherwise - the hotels we've liked include the Lani properties, the Ritz on Maui and the JW M at Ko Olina. Been to all of these hotels 1-3x each and they're all nice for mildly different reasons.

HNLQKAP_M01.jpg

The hotel we're in this time though is a 1st for us - the QUEEN KAPIOLANI ... a cheaper one with a location that fits our specification precisely ( a block from the folks we want to visit with and it's beach front AWAY from the main touristy beaches - and across the street from the zoo - plujs it was a bit of a bargain too... so we thought we'd try it. We know there are few true bargains out there - so we're prepared to accept the modest accomidations we're paying for. On the other hand - some of the trip advisor remarks say the hotel is a raging bargain! So - who knows, eh??? :confused3

That's in our nature - we like to try new things within a narrow rage of familiarity when possible.

In my 8 cabins worth of family and friends we have one GP, 3 Optimolotists, one Endocrinologist, a 7 board MD (pediatrician, pediatric critical care, pulminologist, pediatic pulminologist, Internal Medicine, MPH + something else I can't recall WHAT now), plus one retired chest surgeon. So if anyone wants a casual consult within one of these specialites perhaps we can arrange something. Oh... if anyone wants a financial consult - I might be able to arrange something on my calandar too... However in my case "past results are no guarantee of future preformance" <chuckles>....

PS... if anyone wants a archectectural consult - we have a "doctor" of archectectural design (teaches at UCLA) along too. However, let me warn you that he may be sort of expensive to sit with. I mayself am still trying to figure out what it will cost me to have him do some design work for me (if you're reading this Judy - have your husband give me a call - chuckles).
