We rescued our current critter too!
... and he's so laid back it is unbelievable! Except for the day I drove him home and left him in my back seat for perhaps 3 minutes to drop off something at a cell phone store and in those 3 minutes he dug and tore up my rear drivers side door panel... Arrrgh!. AND the time while he was new to our home when overnite he went and rolled around in the fireplace... ARRRGH! Then theres' the time he was caught in the morning having wiggled into the pantry and had eaten half a package of these expensive preserved and dried scallops that my spouse had picked up in Hong Kong... they were something like $100 a pound or something like that. AND.... when my spouse started yelling/scolding him verbally - the scoundrel rolled on his side and started peeing in sumission!!!! AND my spouse started screaming in consternation and he responded by peeing harder... or so it seemed!!!!
Needless to say - my spouse quickly learned NOT to yell at the sweet gentle hearted critter we were adopting. AND ... in the weeks to come he settled in - and only retained ONE really bad habit... he loves sweets. He will FIND any candy within reach and wiggle his nose into purses or shoulder bags to find any sweet left buried there. Often we would wake to find him innocently napping with a candy wrapper next to him!
Oh - yeah... our dog has a major sweet tooth weakness... like me!
Please forgive me for recycling old images of our critter -
My DSLR is dead - and my pocket digicam is missing - and my notebook comuter is still out for repair - and my spouses' computer cannot be tinkered with as its' a company machine...
