Well, darn. I was actually hoping it was an AOL problem because then I could try to fix it. I can't reproduce it on my end in IE or Firefox -- it works fine for me with their usernames and passwords. Oh well, time to put my thinking cap on and head for my thotful spot.

I hit a few server glitches over the last few days where it would tell me I didn't have access rights, if I backed up one screen and hit link again it worked fine.

I dunno. I've always thought it was way cool the way folks could approach this community in the way the made them most comfortable. Having a brother who's little more than a hermit - I get that not everyone will get the same personal value out of being as active as we are. Yet, they still want that feeling of connectedness, even if it's on the perifery. Or maybe, they're just looking for advice from "older and wiser heads", and the community came along for the ride. Who can tell why anyone joins.

OK, it's not the way you or I'd do it (obviously), but it works for them. :confused3

Besides, the second I sent my "personal" information to be sent out to members of this community it stopped being private and started being public. There's nothing there that I wouldn't be comforatble with anyone knowing. Sometimes it's hard to remember that once it goes out in email it's not a private conversation. I know I struggle with remembering that all the time.

I expect we're probably in violent agreement here - just using different words. :)

Well, I do have a problem with the way it seems to be accessible to people who have not yet even submitted their information. With the problems we have had in the past this should be clear why. When I took the information from everyone, I ensured them that noone else would have access to it without having given their family's complete information as well. I do not like the idea that someone who has no intention of sending information in can access the site and do not want my information on the site due to this.

There are a lot of us, and we need to accept that anything we post here is in a public forum (with apologies to those who aren't keen on those who lurk). Yes, we hope to make new friends before the cruise. But not everyone can type well or feels the need to post 87 times a day or can take the time to keep up. I expect that we'll have more cruise-related conversations as we get closer to the trip.

Not at all an attack, simply an explaination for why the two things are completely different. This is a public forum. The site is suppose to be a secured website that is not accessible to the general public. The reason for the two is so that we could get to know each other better. I do have a problem when something that is suppose to be a secure website is accessible to someone who is not participating by posting, and especially sharing the same information, with the others posted on the site.

My appologies to those who I initially took information from for the group website. It had been delayed so long due to the attempts to keep that information protected. Anyone who does not want their information to remain on the site simply needs to pm and request that it be removed. I am not longer connected with the site and have deleted ALL of the emails that were sent to me in regards to it.

You know I don't think anyone here wants to appear unfriendly to newcomers or those who post less and observe more. I myself don't post as much as some, especially lately because we have a lot going on. We all have busy lives, so it just makes sense that there will be times when our posts dwindle a bit. But, for those of us who have made a friendly commitment to this group and this trip, we do at least make an effort to stay connected and pop in whenever we can.

There is a big difference between someone who posts slightly less and someone who really doesn't participate at all. I know this is a public forum, but it still feels a little uncomfortable to me that people will watch from the sidelines without so much as a comment. And you certainly can't use the pace of the thread as an excuse anymore because it has actually become quite manageable.

If this is really all about the fun of planning and being excited together then it does seem some level of give and take is needed. I'm not saying that to exclude anyone, it just seems like common sense to me. Do I mind having my last name on the website? No not really. However, does it bother me that someone can know all about me without reciprocating in any way? Yeah it does. For those of us who went through the whole spamming episode and the nasty and outrageous behavior of a few posters earlier on I think that is perfectly understandable. It makes you feel suspicious of the motives of people who really don't seem interested in being active here. That doesn't mean you have to post all the time, but at least get to know us and let us know you.

So I guess this really doesn't resolve the issue, but it is my opinion that there should be some reasonble expectation for participation if our goal is to have some cohesion and friendly group spirit.

OK, I'm done now.

ANDY! I got tears looking at Angelina's pictures! I bet it really leaves you and Hazel wondering where all the years went.......

You better believe it!!! And to think, she is still only 16.....................

I am not sure what you mean by "seems to be accessible to who have not yet even submitted their information". Everyone who has been PMed their user ID and password is a member of this thread who has submitted information to you previously and whose information appears on the website. Some people have asked that only limited information be posted and I have honored those requests as I will do for anyone.

To be clear -- no one has access to the site who has not submitted their information and no one has access who has not posted to this website either in the recent past or in some quantity.

Thanks for the info. I have not tried Earl of Sandwich. I just thought it would be a not too crowed eating place. I :confused3 hope.

There is also an outside sitting area. It will be a good spot for a meet. :thumbsup2

Andy - I am jealous you already have your daughter's Senior Pictures - they are lovely. My son is going to be a Senior this year and I haven't been able to convince him to get his taken yet. He is currently working in Michigan at a summer camp, so I am hoping once he returns he will get this taken care of. I think we went thru all of middle school without pictures. He would come home and say "We had school pictures today, I forgot to give you the order form." It never bothered him that he didn't have them, but I wish I did. Soon, I am just going to make an appointment and "drag" him there myself.

We received a letter from Angelina's school a few weeks before school let out informing us that the Senior Portraits would be taken the week after school got out. Hazel and I both graduated from the same high school that Angelina attends and we both had our portraits taken by the end of June. It's nice to have them taken and paid for before the school year starts!!!

ITA Mary. This thread has been slow for months, taking less than 10 minutes most days to ketchup on what's going on. I can understand being shy and wanting to get close to a few people but you can't do that if you don't post and get to know us while we get to know you. As in all aspects of life, everyone is not going to like everyone but we are all adults here - you don't have to respond to another's post - there are ways to ignore posts made by specific individuals.

IMHO if you aren't willing to share any part of yourself with the group here, or only post to complain then access to the website shouldn't be granted.

So we finally have an answer to one of our groundhog questions. While I cannot get you room assignments or change the color of the t-s****s, we do now have a cruise website. I will be PMing each of you who have posted recently with the URL, user name and password. Hope you like it.

I agree with Mary and Lorri. I think based on the past, we have ample reason to be wary. If people just want to "lurk" (for lack of a better word) - then they can do so here on the public forum, but not on the private site where more info is given out.

I am very shy and have a hard time knowing what to say to people, but I have managed to contibute a fair share here (I hope others agree). (Last cruise I contributed only a little to the meet thread - and then chickened out on the cruise activities - with the exception of participating in the trick or treating for the kids. Hoping to push myself to be more involved this time around!)

Anyway...., I think there should be some safe guards with the new site. I think many of us would feel better.

just my two cents......:)

Great site. All that info is going to make planning for this TOAL so much easier. Thank you for all your hard work. I sent you my info today.

That sounds to me like she saw the site and then sent you her info.

Again, I am not handling this anymore so how you choose to run it is yours. I have always held that if you want to access the info, you need to share your info.

Please people get off your lurking seats and start posting. Please don't feel unwelcome. Just jump in there. We would much rather have you join in than to feel like we are being watched.

Amen Sister!

Angelina asked me to come up with a design for an ad page in the high school yearbook. This is a "rough draft" of what I did over the weekend. These are all of Angelina's school pictures from Kindergarten through 12th grade. Angelina requested the words of the song, "In My Daughter's Eyes" be added. And yes, she does call us Momster and Dadster..............:rotfl:

Great choice, we eat there almost every visit. My DH has worked his way through their entire menu and is now repeating his four favorites. It can be really crowded during busy times. During usual lunch and dinner hours we usually have to wait to get a table inside for two. But, they also have outside areas. They do have two large tables inside (probably seat 10+) which might be perfect. Since the meet is on Labor Day it could be even more crowded. If you can it might be best to schedule your meet for off peak meal hours.

I'm still working on joining you. We are thinking about going down on 9/2 (DH should be off that day) and then I'll stay over. But I have to wait to see how I can work the budget. With the family here for a month this summer we are way over on our WDW budget. But, either way, if I can't make the meet on 9/3, we can try to get together on 9/7.

Barbara, Just meeting everyone is getting me all excited about going to WDW this September. :cool1: Some how the cruise took precedent over this year's trip. Now I am anxious for September to come!!!!:woohoo: Maybe 2 or 3 or 4 pmfor our mini meet. I hope these are off hours!!! I know about budget that is why we are for the first time ever staying at the economy hotel, The Pop Century!!!I need all the money for the TOAL and looking for property to retire to Florida in about 4 years.

Most people on that service can't even spell Unix or Linux, so those terms above mean nothing to them.

I have at least heard of those words.

J. R. IS Awesome!!!!!

I went snooping all over the site today. You did a great job!!!! Please thank your wife too!!! I am sure she would like to see you once in awhile!!!:rotfl2: :lmao:

Edited because Judy beat me to it!

Don't worry about not joining in yet since I'm sure a lot more people will be posting as the cruise gets closer, but feel free to join in anytime! Like Judy says....don't feel unwelcome here! Oops also wanted to say that I totally agree that getting to know each other before the cruise is a great part of the fun. It's not just about the planning here!

If I did not get to know you,who else would be making my Mickey cake for my birthday!!!!:grouphug: Right Diane:confused3 :rolleyes1

Please thank your wife too!!! I am sure she would like to see you once in awhile!!!:rotfl2: :lmao:

She is currently in Paris, France. Which is why I had time to do the website this week after the kids were in bed.
