Hope everyone is staying cool. Going up to upper 90's here. Already 57% humidity! Yuck!

Is everyone actually working?

No one here? Wow!

Chrissie

Well I had to take the stinking day off to have the city read the water meter at my dad's house. Had to be there to sign. My appt was for 10 AM, sat there on the porch till 10:30 AM. Called the city, the person who I talked to last week took the day off and she didn't tell anyone else there were work orders! Raised cain and they finally came 15 minutes later. Glad I don't live in that city.

Scary huh?

It usually is, especially where I work!

Baby it's cookin' outside. Just got in for lunch to cool off for an hour. Our expected high today will be around 98* with the heat index over 100* this afternoon. Tomorrow is more of the same, and I thought winter was bad...................:lmao:

I really do like warmer weather, but this is just a tad to warm(hot).

I'm drinking plenty of water, but I think I'm sweating more out, then I can take in at this point.

OK, time to get something to eat.

Congrats on the 66666 milestone there Tommy Boy!!! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Take care Andy. I have been doing a couple of things outside today and I think I'm sweating everything out too! Saw a report on heat stroke on the morning news. When you keep drinking, but stop sweating that's a bad sign.

Let's be careful out there!

I just finished breakfast, no where near lunch time, but I want that cake too........LOVE chocolate w/ chocolate

I want cake too,:cake: but because of my heart healthy diet Cheryl (micmse2003) won't let me have any.:sad2: :guilty:
Can someone make me a fat free cake:confused:
I know it doesn't sound appetizing but it's better than nothing.

John

we have all the kids asleep already!!

and we've booked a trip to WDW for labor day weekend!!! woohoo!!:cool1:
it normally takes us a long time to plan a trip...but we are leaving in just a few weeks! and i thought we'd have to wait til next year til we saw the mouse again!!!!
dh and i are jumping around like little kids!!

Cheryl and I will be there on labor day for a week. When and how long are you there? Maybe you can meet up with us for our WDW mini meet.

we are going to be there from aug 29- sept 4. when will you be there?

Arrive on the third leave on the 10th. At WDW till Friday the 7th, then switching hotels visit friends and start looking at property to retire in 4 1/2 years. Arlene sp and her DH will be meeting us along with some other people that live down there. I know we are meeting on that Monday I think at Earl on Sandwich. Cheryl if you are on, i should say when you get on verify for me. I have to get back to work.

John

No, I'm not saying I haven't....just trying to be good here

No sense being good if you're never going to let yourself be bad . . . a few times a year, you should allow yourself cake and coffee for breakfast! I generally make my girls chocolate cake with chocolate icing for their birthdays, and then that is what I have for breakfast the next day. Unfortunately the next birthday around here is in October . . .

I'm ain't no :wizard: Try a chocolate,Pillsbury cake mix and canned frosting:rotfl2:

Only kind I make! :thumbsup2

My nickname is ........ CaptainCrash....<chuckles> or rather it was when I was in high school. May I address you as Grace as well?

getcooking.gif

An' now if you'll excuse me - I ducked in while to take a peek at whos posting - while I cook the final dishes for lunch - I have a few moments while things are baking on timer. I'm making chicken florentine (premade-fresh) from the market. When done it should look similar to the image I posted below. I've never tried this particular brinad before and it struck me as something to try when I saw it last nite. OK... I gotta go now...

istockphoto_1405124_chicken_florentine.jpg

Suddenly I'm really really hungry!

I just posted this on the Community Board-
What do yal think?

Do you believe the "Roswell Incident"?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am watching the National Geographic special and I am torn.
On one hand I was born and lived in Roswell until I went to college. I am a 4th generation Roswellite. Supposedly one of the possible "landings" was at my grandparents ranch just south of the Mack Brazell ranch.
My mom said my Great-Aunt had been complaining for days about something unusual in the sky that terrified the ranch-hands.
It was lightning a lot that night and since NM is so dry everyone scans the land for fires. There is no way no one would miss an army convoy. This is 40 miles north of Roswell. There are usually 1 road in and 1 road out. The only reason that road is there is to reach a house which means the army convoy would go right by a house. No way you would not notice.
My family says there was nothing that happened. Also, I never heard 1 word about this until I was in HS in the early 80's.
But on the other hand, a very big, militarilly important base was at Roswell at that time. I know several people personally that say it happened and were personally involved, that I cannot totally dismiss.
Anyway, I love mysteries but do not like the ones that cannot be solved.
What do the rest of you think about it?

Well I'm not so sure anymore that our government is clever enough to keep all that top secret, so I doubt anything really went on it Roswell other than military tests. I will say, however, that we don't really know too much about what's beyond our galaxy so until we do know........cue the twilight zone music! ;)

The plane ride is the only thing stopping me. Twenty-two hours would kill me. I would need something to knock me out but we are still considering!!:thumbsup2 You will have to tell us it would be another chance for a TOAL .:goodvibes

I think I need a little cake now!!! Its for my sore body from boucing off the cement!!:lmao: :lmao:

ITA about the plane ride! Don't think I could do it!

BTW...have some cake! I'm saving the Mickey cake for later in the month! :rolleyes1

MG_4564_LavaCake_c1.jpg

Another good choice......I'm a sucker for a handsome crooner. I actually mentioned his name at the pool also, and got lots of "Ewwwww" responses. But keep in mind one of them chose John Cusack as her "Free Pass"....I said to her, "Really? Lloyd Dobler?!"

I always thought Dean Martin's voice could melt chocolate. They just don't make em like that anymore!

And you have time to make fish gifts???:confused3

I have an idea for some fish gifts too, but I haven't found the right supplies yet. I haven't given up yet though! ;)

I too injured my wirst - or rather I broke my wrist in a bicycle accident some years ago - so I can truly sympathisize with you - as I don't bowl anymore due to the discomfort in that wrist.

california_bicycle_accident.gif

Although you may have heard this from me before - I'll make mention that my accident broke my hip and one wrist - and I was the unlucky one of 1600 riders in a fund rising ride from LA to San Diego for Multiple Sclorosis. I'm 99% OK today - but the experience leaves me weary of being on a bike IN traffic. I still ride a little - but I'm very very cautious.

So sorry to hear that Crash. Sounds very painful!

I checked on Weather.com and its says the average high in Sydney is 64F where the average high where I am at the same time is 52F so Sydney is a lot warmer! LOL Orlando for the equivilent time (Feb - being the last month of winter) has an average high of 74F.

I can really see your husbands point - I feel the cold something awful too and I just dread winter. However living here has so many benefits that it just doesn't pay to move elsewhere at this point IMO.

Who knows, where I get nearer retirement, I might decide to move somewhere further north towards the equator.

As an aside, we didn't have any water at work this morning for a few hours as the pipes had frozen - its been unusually cold this past weekend.

I think this picture says it all - it was the front cover of this morning's paper http://www.stuff.co.nz/images/308024.jpg

Paula
New Zealand

Beautiful pic, but Brrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!:cold:

NZ probably isn't too expensive for those with US$ - mind you the NZ$ is the highest its been against the US *ever* in the last few weeks so probably not so cheap as in the past. I know what you mean though about the airfare - it is expensive... have you checked online at Air New Zealand and paying in NZ$? It might work out cheaper than doing it from the US. They do specials occassionally for $NZ1600 from Auckland to LAX which is about $US1250 - a lot of money, but then it is half way across the world... :rotfl2:

Paula
New Zealand

Wow that's a little too rich for my blood!

You mean you can only do one TOAL? Why didn't anyone tell me!? ;)

I have done loads of TOAL - just to lots of different destinations at different times :rotfl:

WDW was my main TOAL goal when I was a child. I've been there 4 times so far now and as a DVC member am pretty sure I'm going to make that a semi-regular TOAL :rotfl2:

But then there are all the other TOALs that I have planned too so it better be a very long life or I'll be angry! :rotfl:

Paula
New Zealand

I keep telling DH this our one & only TOAL & I'll never ask for another vacation that is so expensive. Well that's what I tell him anyway! :rolleyes1

Good Morning Everyone,
Just checking in once again. I went to check the "summaries" but they seem to be gone, so I am even more lost than usual. I am amazed that so many of you have kept this thread going strong. We have a trip planned to WDW in December so I am sort of focused on that right now. After that I will be in full PC cruise mode. I have to admit though I may be more excited about this cruise than any other. Is there any estimate on how many DIS'ers are on the ship?
Have a great day!:)
Caren

I counted about 150 cabins when the website was up briefly so avg. about 3 or 4 to each cabin, but sadly we've lost quite a few but then again we might gain quite a few. In other words....I have no idea! :confused3 Not much help I know, but check back after your big trip in December & have fun! :yay:

Good Morning everyone!

Hope you all had a super weekend!

Please do me a favor on the ship...tell me to "re-apply" :confused3

I forgot to on Sat! Now I am crispy and sore! :headache:

happy Monday!

Chrissie

So sorry you are crispy & sore Chrissie! Sounds very painful!

No problem, JR did the programming, I'm just updating/maintaining. If anyone has planning links, picture links, etc. let me know and we will get them posted.

Tom are you getting any help with all this? This can be very overwhelming for one person & I'd hate to lose you too! Is there a way we can post our own stuff like the we do with the calendar? What about the summaries? Do we really need them when we aren't actually planning anything right now? Perhaps one big fluff jar will cover it about now? ;)

I'm here :wave2:

Just waiting for the rain to stop and the Triple H's to arrive :faint:

Any idea when the triple H is suppose to be here? It's still cool here & I actually woke up a little chilly with the window fan going this morning.

I want cake too,:cake: but because of my heart healthy diet Cheryl (micmse2003) won't let me have any.:sad2: :guilty:
Can someone make me a fat free cake:confused:
I know it doesn't sound appetizing but it's better than nothing.

John

Here you go: Fat free but it looks a bit dry! But then again...all virtual cakes posted here are fat & calorie free if a bit tasteless. :goodvibes

I have had a few volunteers so far, but would always welcome some help. Roger (Goofyonthehiseas) has started a blog on LA things.

Pamela (Pdarrah) is getting info together on Acapulco (or was it Aruba - one of those "A" stops).

I'm just gonna link things that IMHO people want to see (e.g. M's wandering blog or planning links) in the summaries and less of the chit chat.

If you have stuff you would like to add, it can be done 2 ways, if you are familiar with websites I can have you added as an "author" on sections or you can send it to me and one of our more "techy" volunteers can convert it.

Thanks to everyone who has offered help and support on this. I can't reply to each one individually now, but I do appreciate your offers. As I said 100 or so posts ago, this site is not mine or someone elses, its all of ours, the content is content you provided, so be proud and enjoy.

David will be sooo disappointed if you do not show up.:sad1: I will be too.:sad2:

I will be disappointed! LOL! Samantha has already reminded me that 2 other friends of hers (girls from the cruise) are going then to see Alex...... She thinks the 4 of them would have a great time! :)

I think that Jon just finished paying for the wedding stuff this last week.... I might need to give him a week or two. :rotfl:

I pulled a ligament years ago when my foot fell asleep. I stood up and heard a crack!!!! I ended up with a cast for over 3 months.:sad2: A soft cast for a year. The doctor told me break a bone next time .:rolleyes1 Bones heal faster.

My DD broke an arm while bowling.:scared: I guess we all need to be more careful in our family.:rotfl2:

If you can't stand the thought of the long flight you could break it up easily... A few days at Disneyland, a few days in Hawaii then onto Auckland - there done :rotfl:

Paula
New Zealand

That sounds like an interesting possiblity.:thumbsup2

Or a few days at WDW, fly to Paris, visit DL paris, fly to Tokyo, visit Tokyo Disney then to Auckland.

This sounds like a better itinerary, Disney Paris, Disney Tokyo then to Auckland.:cool1: Is this what you had in mind.:confused3 :confused3

LOL

I saved you from it... :rotfl:

Tom needs to post you a medal for taking one for the group.:lmao:

In PA and New Jersey we would put in two or three cherry or grape tomato plants and for weeks during the summer we would have a basket of them on the kitchen counter. It was rally convenient to grab them out of the basket to make a salad. DH and the kids would eat them like candy whenever they walked past. We haven't tried them here in FLA. Have any of you who live in Florida had any success with tomato plants in pots on a patio.

Barbara

We plant our Cherry tomatoes in pots with marigold flowers around them. The marigolds chase away all the bad yucky bugs!!:woohoo:

Poor Crash will probably cry if all his searching leads him here...
EndOfInternet.jpg

Crash(Tom) goes way beyond the internet and most of the time beyond this universe.:rotfl:

I do rely on Lloyd for career advice:

"I don't want to sell anything, buy anything, or process anything as a career. I don't want to sell anything bought or processed, or buy anything sold or processed, or process anything sold, bought, or processed, or repair anything sold, bought, or processed. You know, as a career, I don't want to do that."

I think that is one of the best scenes! LOL! I love it! :rotfl:

Hey I know this is not "disney" but it has to do with scrapping for Disney!

Anyone have one of those cricut machines? The have cartriges for disney cut outs....

I was wondering how the machines were?

Any opinions?

Chrissie

One of hte ladies on our 10nt thread just bought one.... I may have to break down if there are Disney cartridges!!! I just have so much stuff for my sizzix! LOL!

I know nothing about websites or how to do blogs, but I am a fast learner so if you need another "author" & can send a brief tutorial, I'd be happy to try.

Also it looks like we may have lost some people that were on the task force and I don't want to step on anyone's toes, but I would be glad to pick up one of the tasks if they truly become vacant. Right now the only thing I see available is the Panama Canal info & I'd be glad to research it, but I know absolutely nothing about it. Maybe with the help of Andrew's pics (if he allowed me to copy them) I could add some info about what we might expect?

Or there is the bus to MCO from Port Cananveral task which is also vacant, but we won't be heading to the airport right away so I won't be there as a spokesperson & I also know nothing about chartering a bus, but I could do my best if you want to put your trust in me.

While we're on the subject, are we suppose to be resending all our info including family pics to the webmaster? Our original info & pics were deleted correct? Sorry I know we received posts about this, but I was unclear about what is actually needed.
