Hopefully it wasn't this guy: :rotfl:

The Washington, D.C.-based Palmer National Bank was founded in 1983 on the basis of a $2.8 million loan from Herman K. Beebe to Harvey D. McLean, Jr. McLean was a Shreveport Louisiana businessman who owned Paris (Texas) Savings and Loan. Herman Beebe played a key role in the savings and loan scandal. Houston Post reporter Pete Brewton linked Beebe to a dozen failed S & L's, and Stephen Pizzo, Mary Fricker, and Paul Muolo, in their investigation of the S & L fiasco, called Beebe's banks "potentially the most powerful and corrupt banking network ever seen in the U.S." Altogether, Herman Beebe controlled, directly or indirectly, at least 55 banks and 29 S & L's in eight states. What is particularly interesting about Beebe's participation in these banks and savings and loans is his unique background. Herman Beebe had served nine months in federal prison for bank fraud and had impeccable credentials as a financier for New Orleans-based organized crime figures, including Vincent and Carlos Marcello.

:lmao: That's funny. Since we were on Long Island at the time, hopefully this wasn't the same. But you are fast to look these things up. And at work at that :lmao:
Well the kiddies want to go to the pool and it seems they left the suits in moms car. So the older one is fabricating some shorts and t shirt for now.:thumbsup2 Time to take them shopping. The little guy never outgrows what's still here.

KETCHUP ALERT!!!!

I can't believe that I am actually caught up now!!! Time to grab some lunch before the next typing job comes up.

Congrats Tina!!! It sure seems more have posted more on this thread than just 500 times!!!

I know! Now if we counted Friday night chat I'd be up there!

Todd, nice pics.

Did anyone watch Pirate Master last night on CBS? I'm not sure I like it, but the one guy who was set adrift after the pirate court was annoying! I think I like AR better.

Um...TODD...just where is that child's POC gear???? :lmao: Glad that your ST stopped by to share in the fun. :)

He didnt want to wear it ...well actually he did ...Melissa didnt want to fool with it since I wasnt there to help ...

:cheer2: YAY! Angelina :cheer2:

Stace - Have a great time in :cake:s & Tacos! Have a fruity drink with an umbrella for me!

Todd - What handsome boys...even if they aren't pirates! I'm glad the ST came out to play.

Laura - Yow! I'm glad the pooches are home safe.

We just arrived home a little bit ago from the 1st Annual Eagles Nest Awards. Hazel and I didn't know this was the first such awards that school will now be doing on an annual basis. There were around 60 students that were given this award and each student was selected by a teacher or staff member of the high school. I haven't had time to load the pics that I had taken this evening, but Angelina made us so proud and we got MANY compliments from several of Angelina's teachers. When Angelina came forward to receive her award and certificate I'm the one who had butterflies in my stomach and also had the buttoms popping off my shirt. After I get the pics loaded, most likely tomorrow, I will post a couple and also include what Angelina's English teacher had to say about her. All in all, it was a wonderful evening and yes, some tears were also shed.

Very cool....can't wait for the pictures

Thanks again, guys.....I'm stressing over the flights....so it's nice to be "here" and see my peeps.
Depending on how much the internet costs, I'll try to be on here when I can! Maybe post some pics, too.

See ya later!

Bon Voy-ah-gee!!!

Drink some rum and eat some cake for us!

You know, if we keep making these type of comments about our spouses on here, we might just have to room together on the cruise. There are no couches in the lobby for me to sleep in.

I like to temp faith.:rotfl2:

Hi Everyone,

Just stopping in to say HI! We all survived May and the garden club plant sale - who would think that a plant sale could be so much work! We sold around 10,000 plants and that ALL were staged at my house for the week before that actual sale. We spent around 60 hours organizing, pricing, labeling, etc. Then we moved them all to the sale location the night before and were there for final setup at 6:30am the day of the sale!

THere isn't any way I am going to get ketchup'ed with this thread. DH is leaving for Orlando on Sunday (for his conference) and DS8 and I will fly down to join him on the 5th after school is out for the year. After the conference ends is our family vacation - we had planned it long before the conference stuff was planned. Soooo .... we will be at WDW until we fly back home on the 16th!:woohoo:

Are any other DISers from here planning to be down there?

I'm trying to get the house organized enough to start packing. I think this trip may be long enough that I am going to have to break down and do laundry!

Are any of the Chicago area DISers still considering a DIS Meet this summer? Obviously, we aren't available the next few weekends, but after we get back we should be around through the end of July (August gets a little busy again).

Oops! Gotta run - classroom party is starting soon and they need parents to help out. Maybe I'll have a little more time to DIS after we get packed up. The plan is to be packed before DH leaves on Sunday so he can take most of the luggage with him. Theoretically, I shouldn't have much to do SUnday evening and Monday:rotfl2:

And now for quoting ketchup...

Nope, never seen or read Harry Potter either.:scared1: Not my type of movies.

Me either. I have this ‘thing’ about seeing movies based on a book if I haven’t read the book. I just won’t do it! I’m not into sci-fi & mystical books, so I haven’t read HP or seen the movies. I’m actually trying to e-bay the first HP book on CD for the trip since it will be a while before DSs can get through the book themselves & I don’t really want to start a 900 page book for bedtime read-aloud!

For the record…I’ve seen all the Star Wars movies many many times.

Seriously, though, folks, if we have hit a snag in getting a website up and running, let me know. If I had all the information, I could probably have a secure site up and running in a week or so. I do websites for non-profits.

HHHHHMMMMM…see, more justification for DISing at work! I’m really networking!
CJS Todd is a fundraiser – J.R. is a n-p web designer!

There is a reason I am known as an evil genius. Watch and learn, grasshopper.

I don’t recall anyone referring to you as “genius”
NIWTLIVE is more like it!

Hopefully it wasn't this guy: :rotfl:

So what your saying is that the Herman Beebe Award isn’t quite as prestigious as the Michael Milken or Kenneth Lay Awards.

Laura have a great trip. We expect a trip report. Speaking of trip reports, has anyone been reading the reports from the first repo? Sounds like the service was really spotty for some of the cruisers. Hope Disney reads the comments and tries to fix it.The one thing in common was the disappointment in the desserts. Now I understand the ref to cake on the blogs.Apparently alot of the seasoned CMs are leaving in Barcelona for some time and they are iffy about signing back on according to one of the posters. And the new CMs are going thru the growing pains in the new jobs. Let's hope everything gets ironed out for the return. The one thing noone posted was the gifts they received. I don't remember seeing what the stateroom gift for CC was and I read about a book but that was all. No mention of special pins?
Well the grandkids are annoying the **** to get to the computer so I'll sign off now for a while.

I've been told that the gift was a leather planner/document holder. Nice but many felt it was not enough. Oh and also a hardback book on Crossign the Atlantic. But the DVC members got showered with gifts, including a 6 pin set.

Hello Everyone!

Want to say a quick hello to all befor I start ketching up.

Hope to see you in chat tonight:surfweb:

You have no idea how proud we are!!! I just loaded this pic in real quick, I didn't have the time to edit the pic, this was taken after the ceremony this evening.

Congrats to Angelina & to her proud parents for raising a beautiful, intelligent & conscientious young lady! :flower3:

Thanks again, guys.....I'm stressing over the flights....so it's nice to be "here" and see my peeps.

See ya later!

Can't wait to see the pics! Have a blast!!!

Ok all - here's what's been happening.

1. Scary home situation still on hold. I'm playing ostrich in the hopes that things aren't really happening. :)

2. Came home from dinner last night to find that our 'girls' had escaped their cell (backyard) and were runnig loose. Luckily, someone happened to hear them in their yards and went out to investigate. These dogs rarely are turned back in. In fact, there has been a rash of husky-napping around here. So I consider myself extremely blessed that my girls are back home! THANK YOU GOD! AND MY GIRLS ANGEL!

Now I really must do something good for them. I was thinking some kind of fruit basket or something like that - would do you guys think? I didn't even think about a reward but I did ask her what I could do to thank her. Her response - do something nice for someone else. What a lady I tell you.

Glad things worked out okay & your babies are home safe & sound. I think it was wonderful for her to tell you to forward a good deed. I'm sure something simple like a batch of cookies would go a long way in offering your thanks!

3. I have signed on to do the WB Transatlantic Repo cruise. :woohoo: :woohoo:

How exciting! Have fun planning another cruise! :yay:

Nope, never seen or read Harry Potter either.:scared1: Not my type of movies.

Me neither! Loved Star Wars but I never got around to HP! :confused3

 Mornin

It's morning, but it's not all that good. We only had about three hours sleep as Hazel's nephew Johnny had an accident right in front of our house about 12:15 this morning, needless to say, none of us got much sleep last night. Johnny is OK, but his car is a total loss. It's time to get back to work.

Oh my that must have been quite a night! Glad he is okay!

...gets recorded to the log history. :rolleyes1 Is there any week you have missed and would like to catch up?

Ack! :scared: Noooo I think I'm good thanks! :rotfl2:
Diane, I am so sorry for the sense of loss that you are feeling. Just remember that you did nothing to make your mother who she was. It was her choice and hers alone. It has made you the person you are today and probably more deterimined to not perpetuate that attitude. YOU are the new start for happiness in your family. :grouphug:

This brought tears to my eyes. Thank you Lisa!

Actually...yes there is!

IMG_0180.jpg

How adorable! I wish I could fall asleep like that! :cutie:

Sorry for the fluff post, but I just saw this is my 500th to this thread!

Let your Freak Flag fly!

:woohoo:
