So I was on my way to FedEx for some supplies. Nothing like having a nuclear waste transport truck with three casks marked "FISSILE" pass you going 75 in a construction zone to make you appreciate the little things like the incoming rain!

Hello Friends!! Happy Wednesday!

Just in from the annual visit to the Doctor that us girls do not speak of :rotfl2: I have decided that my person simply requires too much maintenance! Manis, Pedis, Waxys, Rosacea Treatments, Dye Jobs.....etc. And I'm only 46.....what will my maintenance require twenty years from now?? :rotfl:

Gonna ketchup BRB!

Woah I am sorry for your DS… But tell him he is not alone and is actually very lucky! A few years back I discovered Degree deodorant and I fell in love! Now why I thought I could use this stuff is beyond me since I have very sensitive skin, however I used it and things seemed to be fine. Then about a year into using it I discovered little bumps under the skin and as soon as I would go to call the Dr they would be gone. I looked online and of course most places said they were tiny cysts… Anyway to make a long story a bit shorter I didn’t worry. Then in June 2005 I got another bump that grew and grew to about the size of a small egg and then I got a fever so off to urgent care we went. The Dr took a look and said he thought I might have an ingrown hair but that he was going to try and lance it and I would have to go see a dermatologist since he didn’t think the lancing would work. Well he made his small cut and started to squeeze and not to gross everyone out but the crap that actually FLEW out of my arm scared the Dr and the nurse that was assisting! After asking me a few more questions he told me to stop stop using any sort of deodorant/anti persperant that had aluminum in it! That the aluminum in some people can case this build up. Needless to say we came home and tossed all that crud out. And while shopping I noticed that the choice of products that don't have aluminum in it are slim pickings. I found a great one that doesn’t have aluminum in it made by adidas and of course the crystal rock that you wet and place under your arm. Both work great at controlling the odor but the adidas works better at controlling the wet…. May that will help DS after things clear up a bit!

Gives a whole new meaning to Stinky Teen!!!

Sorry, poor guy...is it the aluminum? Maybe he can try the Adidas CottonTech "absorbent-deo"? It uses cotton fibers rather than aluminum as the abosorption material. The cotton won't block sweat pores and is hypoallergenic so less likely to cause skin problems.

Note this first came out for women but they do have the manly scents packaged in masculine gray :)

If it makes him feel any better, its not that uncommon of an allergy. I can't use any of the "clear" anti-perspirants, only the white powdery type (which kills my shirts.....)

Hey guys thank for sharing this information with me. I had no idea such an allergy even existed. I am going to look for the alumium-free products! Hey Gabbie and HC....great minds think alike! And Tom are the white powdery types without alumium? Can you give me a brand name?

Well you can just imagine how thrilled my ST was about me discussing his armpits on the DIS :lmao: :rotfl2: ........... Come on now that's funny! You know what they say kid......Pay back's a Witch! :rotfl:

No fun for DS & that certainly won't help the Stinky Teen situation!

Right you are M. Baby Powder under the arms and a ST body covered in cologne...............can you just imagine....:scared1: :scared1:

I wonder if there is anything that someone can't become allergic to. I used to get laughed at growing up because I was allergic to chlorine, which was quite a witch b/c I couldn't go near the pool.

Well, eventually you become maintenance free.

Except for the kids having to polish the urn...

Well, people have been saying DCL ships need a bigger pool. Maybe Captain Tom is obliging.

Just don't let them get out and run into this guy!

Man Sells Neighbor's Dog At Yard Sale

(KTHV) -- Dachshund puppies can cost as much as $200, but last Saturday, a couple got a good deal when they bought one for 15 bucks at a yard sale. The problem is the dog didn't belong to the man who sold it. http://www.wusa9.com/news/news_article.aspx?storyid=58637

Ok, I never thought of that. I wonder how much I can get for the neighbor's kids.

(Oh dear, there's that nice lady from child and family services at the door again.)

Hi everyone! Hope everyone is having a good day. It's cloudy/rainy here. Have a parent-teacher conference tonight and then we go and pick up dd's softball uniform. Plus I get to drop off the $30 worth of raffle tickets I ate! :lmao: I hate selling them. Each family is required to sell $30 worth.

I guess I have recovered from that embarrassing school board meeting last night! :scared1: I have never been so embarrassed! What a bunch of adds. They wouldn't approved our new principal till after a budget meeting. She turned down 2 other offers to come to our school. So she is put off for another 2 weeks. They also wouldn't approve 2 3rd party contract renewals for 2 other principals. They work for a serivce and the school district doesn't have to pay them bennies. It was a no brainer and 3 board members were having a fit over everything and the new board member sworn in last night was :stir: . The state budget is in chaos, but they still need to conduct business. I now know why people home school! I our area there are a number of charter schools and school districts compete with each other for students. Our elementary school's curriculum is based on multiple intelligences, so we are unique in the area. Not to mention the 75% of the children attending come from outside the neighborhood and city.

I know why I don't watch those meetings on cable, it make you want to throw something at the TV! :happytv:

I came within a day of running for the school board in my district because I am so tired of the id10ts running it. But it is so hard to get elected here b/c all of the board members have been around for awhile and have too many cronies. We just passed a referendum to build a third high school yet they can't get the property and have no money to staff it once they build it. But the school board has enough people convinced with their doom-and-gloom attitude that if we don't build the school the kids will be packed in like sardines in the halls.

Yes, he's single. He's been at this for some 3 years now. Going through the state as he couldn't incur the expense of private adoption. The problem is (a) he's single and (b) he was too laissez faire when dealing with the social workers. It's sad but we (and even a social worker) had told him if he were to simply state that he's gay (and he's not) then he would have been at the top of the list for a placement!

DW put it best: Had he knocked up some chick (sorry to be crude) and she said "I can't deal with this" while leaving the baby with him, he would have raised the child and everyone would say how wonderful he is, what a great guy for stepping up blah blah blah. But that he is a single man and wants to adopt and care for a child not biologically linked to him...well people think that's strange or worse (can you say Michael Jackson?) :headache:  :headache:  :furious:

Glad it finally worked out. You're right -- adoption and foster home agencies make it so difficult to adopt or take in a child in need, yet anyone can have one on their own with no prequalification.

Don't think I shared with all of you, if I did, sorry for repeating, but I'm just so excited.

For my Med cruise, I had been planning on going to DL Paris for a few days prior. But had my car in the shop last week and it cost me a pretty penny. I was seriously considering cancelling the Paris part of my trip. Well, checking the DCL site I saw that the Cat 12 price had dropped drastically. So I switched my Cat 11 to a Cat 12 GTY (crossing fingers for an upgrade) and saved $2K. So all is right with the world and I'm still going to Paris!

Way to go!

$2.879:jumping3: We could only wish, I passed the BP yesterday morning it was at $3.199, by 4:00p last night it was at $3.499. .30 in 8hrs., now if that isn't price gouging I don't what is:furious: This is outside of Chicago.

John

I feel your pain. The closer to downtown, the worse it gets as well. I had to be out in Sandwich, IL a week ago for Scouts and the gas was 30 cents cheaper than Naperville.

CORRECTION!!!

DW just pointed out there's a drive-in about 30 minutes south of town! They are showing Ghost Rider and Spiderman 3 on one of the screens so we may be able to see a movie (or two)! :woohoo:

And since we'll be in the car, DS can doze off in his carseat when he gets worn out! :yay:

They closed the only drive-in near us last year. :sad1: It was around the corner from our old house and they tore it down to build more houses in that subdivision. Very sad -- was a great place to see movies with the kids.
