Or, another way to think about it:

Annandale, VA: ~0 moose / square mile
Woodbridge, VA: ~0 moose / square mile
Waldorf, MD: ~0 moose / square mile

Anchorage, AK: .88 moose / square mile

Go ahead and ask me if I've ever seen 9/10 of a moose.

WebmasterRegina has a call/email into Disney to see how this will effect fish extenders!!!

Since I will be on the cruise with you Laura, please stay away from the ship's bridge!!!!:rotfl2: :rotfl2: We just don't want to take any chances with your kiss of death on the electronics!!!

Perhaps we should keep here away from the blender also?:rotfl:

What???

I got trapped in a building at U of Alaska for about 45 minutes when a moose was eating the shrubs just outside the door.

Maybe this is too over simple, but don't they have more than one door on buildings in Alaska?

But then again, your local hockey team does play in the East Coast Hockey League....

:rotfl:

I wish they wouldn't ban them totally, but maybe regulate them..I know that might be a pain to enforce though.

I had so much fun planning and making them last trip - and was really looking forward to doing them for TOAL...already had a couple ready to laminate!

this is a total bummer!:sad1:

Sorry I missed y'all in chat. I was off camping with a group of Boy Scouts. We took some our troop down to Springfield to visit the State Capitol, the Lincoln Museum and Mr. Lincoln's House. (He wasn't at home; we forgot to call ahead).

That's no excuse! :sad2: I'm sure all of those places had a free wi-fi connection that you could use (or steal as it were :rolleyes1 ). I mean the've got cameras and now the SanDisk Sansa Connect MP3 player with built-in wi-fi!

Wow that is disappointing news!! I hope that they relax this rule by the time of our TOAL!!

This is my triathalon.

First we start with a bleary eyed stroll to the coffee pot, carefully navigating (a) the clothes on the floor that need to go in the hamper, (b) the yoga ball that is in the middle of the bedroom floor left over from DD playing with it last night, (c) DD's backpack, for some reason in the middle of the hall landing, (d) the stairs, remembering there is a turn in the middle, (e) the kitchen island and the stepstool that is supposed to be under it, but is instead right next to the cabinet where the coffee is kept.

Then, while the coffee is percolating, reverse direction, avoiding again said obstacles, which may now include a small five-year-old who has heard the noise of her father banging his toe into her backpack and has come out to say 'good morning, father' and 'oh, there's my backpack'. After sending said daughter back to her room to get ready for school, head for the bathroom, remembering too late the door is shut and after, bouncing off it, proceed inside, fumble for the shower nozzle, get soaked with cold water because the shower head is pointing at the shower door, curse at spouse, and take shower.

When completed, find clothes you forgotten to set out the night before, tiptoe to dresser to find a pair of socks that match, give up, since no one will see your feet anyway, get dressed, collect DD5 and explain to her she cannot wear a t-shirt and shorts to Christian school, re-dress DD5, pickup her backpack, go back downstairs, find coffeepot, pour coffee onto countertop, then find a cup and pour rest of coffee into cup. Drink.

Wake up.

Yet another reason for me to NOT get hooked on coffee! It's bad enough that I drink 2-3 Pepsis a day (though I've swithced half of those to Pepsi One, gotta watch my figure ;)) but to add coffee to the caffine addiction? :sad2: Because, of course, I can't drink just plain coffee even if it was carried on the backs of Peruvian virgins and flown by albatross...no, it's got to be froo froo-ed up with some milk chocolat ganache cream or some sweat almond/hazelnut nonlactose soy milk froth or ANYTHING other than black :p

BTW what's wrong with a T-***** and shorts? How about if they have the Focus on the Family logo? Their compound (yes, I said it, compound! :teeth:) is a stone's throw from our house, I can ship you one.

Friday night, we were camping. They didn't even have cell phone service.

supposedly someone talked to a CM and they said are just trying to discourage people who don't use magnets and are causing damage...hope this turns out to be true....time will tell!!!!:) :wizard:

ok our office has now hit a new thermostat record....

It's now 83 degrees..... :firefight

 I'm dying and have no more clothes left to take off...

(i'm wearing pants and a thin sleeveless shirt)

Oh course it's 83 degrees outside too and our high is supposed to be 86...

Let's go 86...

There has to be some type of OSHA code management is violating.....

PS.. edited to mention that it will be another 2-3 weeks before the a/c is installed in the building....

We built from scratch, no prefab, a loft bed for DD when she was around 6 as she wanted a bunk bed but we wanted something she could have a desk under. It was so well built that in the last few days we were living there, my DH and I slept up there as the furniture had been packed and gone.We had a built in ladder on the end but it was very hard on the feet, so we took an old wooden ladder and angle cut the legs so it stuck out a bit from the bed and made the trip up and down safer than the up and down.We also put carpet squares on the treads to give a more secure footing as well.If i come across a pic I'll try to send it.
The only downside of the loft was the heat. It was great in the winter as the heat rose but in the summertime we had trouble keeping it cool. However, back then we had a window a/c and no ceiling fan. It prob would've been more comfortable if we had.

My only attempt at a loft bed was when my DS was a freshman at Asbury College. It was very rough looking but quite useful.

Hey he was a boy in college it didn't have to look like the cute ones I see on this thread.

Well, then it sounds like you STILL DO have clothes that can be taken off. I bet if everyone was working in their underwear (which BTW, you do not mention, so you might be going commando?), the A/C install would go faster.

We're bringing the two dogs so - I've been researching lodging that is "pet friendly" - and we also have a 6 yr. old. so ........

Any one have any tips for lodging w/dogs & kids???

I found Motel 6 = pet allowed.

Okay, I'm not wealthy but I am at a point in my life where I enjoy comfort. Ya know what I mean!!!! Motel 6 just didn't do it for me

Any & all help Appreciated!!!!!!!!

Chris

There are a couple of web sites for searching "Pet Friendly" hotels. Be careful because while they may look good on the web they can be pretty poor in person. My last trip I booked a Holiday Inn and it was in worse shape than any Motel 6 I've seen. Some "Mom & Pop" places are really clean and nice but check them out before hand. ;)
