Somehow I knew that question would be asked.

Pork Roll is course ground ham/pork (everything but the oink) that are formed into a tube. It's sliced and typically fried and severed with fried egg, cheese and ketchup on a hard roll. The brand most of grew up on is Taylor Ham made in beautiful Trenton, NJ. Heart attack on a plate, yup, but it is so good.

I'm a Jersey Boy, but never developed the taste for Pork Roll, now Scrapple, that's for me...............:thumbsup2

WELCOME HOME. party: party: party:

Where we live is one of the largest homeschooling areas of the country . . . LOL We also have a huge number of private schools If I were moving here, I'd be questioning why that is . . . one of the nice things about homeschooling is that you can pick where you live based on the neighborhood and price, not just on the quality of schools (which many are forced to do here . . .)

Okay now I'm really going to get some work done . . .

We noticed when we arrived in Fl in '86 that there was almost a tutoring center on each block. Preschools and daycare centers just about everywhere and pretty much every Church had some sort of School attached to it. Welcome the the land of "That is not how we do it down here" mentality.
Once we started meeting families, I was amazed how many were homeschooled. Unless your child is in a gifted or accelerated class, they just get shuffled from grade to grade. Since the NKLB mentality, instead of actually teaching , all that gets done is coaching for state exams. It's sad.

If one new hire has convinced the others to form task forces, set big hairy audacious goals (B-HAGs), motivated them to work for no pay to achieve said B-HAG, and contibute a portion of their future earnings for the good of the room, you have found a non-profit manager.

B-HAG! Please, no Six Sigma terms on this board. I really need an ESCAPE from work, not reminders of it!!!!! :rotfl:

I am impressed with anyone that is able to home school.:thumbsup2 How long have you been teaching your children and what are their ages??? How many hours a day do you spend??? You must have lots of patience.

I agree. I can't stand my children for the few hours I see them at night. You think I want to be cooped up with them all DAY. :rotfl: Besides, they are smarter than me, so unless Google can home school, they are SOL.

Morning Everyone:goodvibes

Andy, glad to hear the good news.

Noticed on the posting a big gap between me and Disneypilots. It just struck me funny, there are 353 posts between and no 600 and 700 postings. Sorry I'm rambling

Speaking of old and embarrassed...there were 3 of us in the class. In the next lane was a group of 7-9 year olds (the very ones I was afraid of being in a class with) and their instructor had them doing all kinds of things in the water! Like a bunch of otters they were! But they were cool watching us old fogeys give it a go!

Just remember, you won't drown! I haven't gotten over that completely but the fact that my instructor is an ocean-certified lifeguard, swims competetively, there are 4 other lifeguards roaming around the pool AND they have some fancy imaging system that monitors the bottom of the pool for people not moving, well, I figure nothing bad could really happen ;)

I am deathly afraid of the water. I am so afraid of the water that I am afraid when my kids are in the water and one is a competitive swimmer.

(So, how do I spend my limited free time -- 15 days on a ship at sea. See what I mean about more than a 'little' nuts).

Well, this is in regards to DD's class. Her assistant teacher is now doing her student teaching to get her degree at a different school for the second half of the year.

Gotta love how student teaching affects kids....

When i was in 10th grade i was in honors classes. I guess they felt we were the guinea pigs because during the 2nd half of the year they took away our english and social studies teachers and gave us student teachers...

DOH!!!! I think our class knew more about the books we were reading then our english "stupid" teacher as we dubbed him.

****************************************************

Another sub story...

DD was in 3rd grade and her teacher told kids in Nov that she was pregnant. Oh great...DD had just moved into this school at end of Sept and now has to change again.....

Well then we find out that they put a parent in the room as a substitute and she had a kid in that room and had never taught before... UGGGGG

and let's just say my DD's class was full of lots of higher maintenance "unmedicated" children to boot....

After two weeks of no work coming home and DD's stories we called the principal because dd was just not learning anything....

They added her to one of the other classes and it was like night and day...She did so much better right away....

***************************************************

Our current school district....

Is so cash poor they are delaying improvements on some of the schools for ten years or more....

During this same time they are preceeding with their own plans for a new billion dollar administration building.

Pension? What's a pension?

If i put up with county for another 24.5 yrs i get a pension....

Oh yeah and there's that $50 a month pension i get from the bank i used to work at. Woo Hoo:cool1: (cat food money)

Isn't that the truth. The school districts can be stuggling, but the administrators are planning large buildings and pay raises. The kids here have to bring in soap, tissues, and other supplies for the room as they are not provided. Soap!!!

Knowing her, she's already found those spots. :thumbsup2
She came home last night, but she'll be out there again, I'm sure. She has a friend she visits there.

Does your dd golf by any chance? May 28-June 3, 2007 are the dates for this year's Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Village Golf Course, Dublin. It's on the PGA Tour. If she golfs, it's a great time of year to come visit. If she doesn't it's a terrible time to visit. Traffic is horrible!

We finally got home late this afternoon. We had a great time at both Disney and meeting everyone at the little OKW meet. Justine originally doubted that anyone would actually show up. She figured that it would just be me and Pete with our cooler. But eveyone was very pleased with how it turned out.

If the people we met are any indicia of the rest of the people on this cruise, this truly will be the TOAL.

Jack

I'm so sad I missed this! Do you think Andy could photoshop my family into the pictures, and we could all pretend like we were there too?

I can understand the fear of water, but I'm getting better at it. I have a fear of drowning as I almost drowned when I was little. I went under at a swimming hole and did the bob up and down and up and down and eventually went under...a stranger nearby came to my rescue and brought me back up. Since then, deep water scares me..... I can't swim, but I've learned to float - its a start!...especially on the water at CC! The good thing is that DD or ST or whatever is a good swimmer after taking classes at the Y, so I don't worry about her, she can keep her head above the water...no pun intended.

I try to look at it this way, we at least have insurance when there are so many out there who have nothing.

and i've had jobs where no coverage would have been better....One job had scipt coverage where generics (if available) were $20 co-pay and everything else was 20% co-pay. My DD was on some really expensive meds that year and UGGGGGG...

1. Put 400 bricks in a closed room.

If they are arranging the bricks in some strange order, put them in Planning.

:rotfl:

But if they are civil engineering they are trying to create communities with the 400 bricks with a 6' gap between each brick and no room for green space.

I don't like people enough to sit on a train for several hours and it is hard to talk to yourself on Metra without people looking at you oddly.

What you don't have a blue-tooth....

I also found out even better news: an increase in the retirement age for "new hires" from 55 to 60, so it appears as I am grandfathered in and can still retire at 55 if that is my choice

Good news Andy....

Oh J. R. you obviously don't have STs yet..........They quit jobs for much, much less than this..........so I might as well have a little fun with her while I can! :thumbsup2

I had one long term job as a ST. I worked for Hechinger. (even got their scholarship for college two years)

Now i did have a couple jobs i quit:rolleyes1

We'd be interested in taking this cruise (submitted a quote request to DU) - is it too late for a decent cabin, or is it more that most of these posts from the same group of people "sharing"? I

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: I'm sorry you're joking right....

Perhaps I will dazzle you with the very limited knowledge of CG I got from a co-worker in CG Reserves...... Kinda amazing that people don't realize how much they do....

My DSF is retired from CG Reserves...

Yikes . .please stay warm . . race to the grocery to stock up on bread and milk

and eggs and Toilet paper....

(it seems all that french toast gives you the runs)

Hey i'm working on it....

aaaaahhhhhhhh...someone else who is living thru the latest and greatest in business, 6 Sigma. I'm sure it's all well, fine and good in a manufacturing setting. I'm R&D. We don't do R&D the same way day-in and day-out. If I have one more person ask me how long it takes to review an approve a report, I am going to scream. Just what I need another process/procedure that does not work!

OK rant over. Thank you, I feel better.

My Aunte was assaulted one Christmas at the shopping mall. The asailant knocked her down - siezed her car keys and tried to drive off in her Acura Legend. However, my Auntes' loveable 130 pound pit bull saw the whole thing as he was in the back of the car! The would be thief was immedietely siezed by Buddy and held and bleeding IN the car right there. AND... would you believe it if I told you Buddy was raised to be gentle as a lamb with people but he really hated other dogs? So - you could sort of trust Buddy around people all the time - except on THIS occassion he made an exception in his conduct. And to Buddys' credit - he did not KILL the assailant.

So... this thief tried to sue my aunte. She went to court where the judge abruptly threw it out of court. However, now-a-days I don't know if our liberal Democratic skewed judges would throw these kind of cases out. As - they might want to HEAR it - to see if the defense knows it's legal dances.... so to speak. Can you tell... I tend to have a conservative view on things - with a couple of "liberal" exceptions? I'll leave it at that for now to avoid raisin' a ruckus. :surfweb:

GO BUDDY GO!!!!! :lmao: What an idiot!

Hey, no problem Stacey, it's just been a bad week and I needed to do a little venting, that's all..............;)

Hazel also received a call from one of her docs yesterday and he wants her to come in and see him about one of the tests results that came back in the other day. Seems blood was found in her stool sample she had taken just before we left for vacation. He doesn't think it is anything serious, but the unkown is always a bit scary. She sees the doc on April 25th.

Andy, I'll be keeping Hazel in my prayers.

I say egg the place!!! (No, I would never do that but at this point I would picket the building.)
