Great now some districts have the kids paranoid....

They don't do stuff like that here....

They do have code "names" to lock down the school though...

I am glad that they practice this. They get the jitters out of their system with the drills. Last year in May there was a drunk who ran his car into a phone poll while being chased by the police. It was less than a block from the school. The jerk jumped out of the car & ran down the street. He jumped the fence into the school playground. The police had alerted the school they did a code 300. DS's class was out on that playground. There are maybe 5 houses from the corner to the fence. By the time that he was on school ground, all of the 1st graders had gotten safely into the 4th grade classrooms on that side of the school thru the bottom window panels that opened because there is no outside door in those three classrooms. The police didn't catch him until he was around the corner from them.

Well, I can't blame the kids since I didn't carry them. But we do use the kids as frame of time reference. "When did we buy that TV?" "Two kids ago."

The Colorado State residence halls went on lockdown because some bozo wanted to jump from the roof of one of them and kill himself. The 100 or so students in that hall were shuttled down to the basement for the duration of the "crisis". Campus police pretty much admitted that they were excercising an "overabundance of caution to ensure student safety" considering what happened this week.

Cheryl, how horrible for everyone. What is this world coming too?
It was reported that a student in a neighboring town of ours went to school yesterday and sat out front of the school with a BB gun. Needless to say, he left the school grounds in handcuffs.

Unfortunantly things like this have been going on all week long. It is just sick.

Where are the parents or family of children that are so mentally disturbed. I blame some of the parents for not being aware of what their children are doing???? Seems like these children's problems did not happen over night.

Cheryl, Thanks for posting these. I became a Mom at 18 yrs. - and discovered what love truly was. Then, I was there when my 1st grandchild was born and I can't even begin to describe how full my heart felt!!!!Chris
P.S. - this was just was I needed as I sit here after having another dental implant done today.

There are no words to describe the feeling a grandmother has towards her grandchildren!!! It is the best feeling in the whole world.

When all else fails, it clearly means you should go twice! May and Nov/Dec
