and i have a Labrador Recliner.....;)

:lmao: :lmao:

Well, I can't blame the kids since I didn't carry them. But we do use the kids as frame of time reference. "When did we buy that TV?" "Two kids ago."

We do that with houses. I can narrow everything down to a 2-3 year time frame if I can remember where we were living when it happened.

I did this yesterday, DH asked me when Columbine was. I said "'99 we were in the little pink Florida house."

Attention Shoppers!!!
Mark is going to be going to China, Japan and Korea in the future and he wants to know what I might like to have him buy for me while he is there. I haven't a clue as to what that would be. Anyone have any suggestions that are not to pricey?

DH bought me a beautiful silk bathrobe in Hong Kong. It is really thick silk and is probably one of the nicest things I own. I've seen $100 robes here that are not nearly as nice as the one he paid $25 for in Hong Kong.

HeeHee, I have a friend who's DH bought her a breadmaker in Korea. The instruction book was in Korean, but she could work around that since she could download an English version. The catch was that all the bottons on the machine were also labeled in Korean!

Not much of a shopper but you can get some good deals on silk material in China as well as silk goods.

How are you doing Laura, haven't been on the thread much!:)

Doing pretty good Peter. I was working my butt of last week on a new job. Photos in my picturetrail, under Murphy. Still more to go in the room but it is mostly installed.

I ended up staying up later than I planned last night because I found a very moving article from the Washington Post about the final moments of the victims. It is well written and thru the tears made me feel closer to those who died and suffered that day. It is thoughtful and chilling all at once.

Thank you, Lisa. It is amazing the every day people become heros. I just keep praying here . . .it's all I know to do . . .

OMG!!! A gunman is barricaded in a building at the Johnson Space Center in Houston! :(

Did they just open the doors of the "violent men's" looney bin and release them nationwide? How wild is this . . .

First off - I'm sorry that Mark has to go there and deal with the flights - they are soooo long! Second, to answer your question - just about anything.

Unfortunately its the 24/7 media world we live in. Do you really think the President would have been there if it wasn't a convenient photo op? All the "experts" get time on TV, all the politicos line up to give condolences or roll out the little too late plan that really couldn't have prevented it from happening. Stepping off the soap box also....

A TX State Senator and radio talk show host was saying that it's today's 24/7 news INSTANT access to new that is partly responsible for bringing Andy Warhol's "Everyone gets 15 minutes of fame" to fruition...on a worldwide stage no less!

I kinda thought the president was there b/c that was the right thing to do. VT was a tragedy that impacted the entire nation and he is the leader of the nation. Governor Kaine (Virginia) flew back from Toyko to be there. He did a wonderful job speaking as well. When in times of crisis, the people expect the leaders to stand up and give them comfort, support, and hopefully answers.

Unfortunately, this event has also sparked many to start into the political discussion . . .they hadn't even figured out who had lived and they were already blaming the administration (Steger) for poor decision making. Jim Moran was already blaming President Bush (now there is a stretch!).

Personally, I like what Dennis Miller (remember Saturday Night Live) said he does. He doesn't hold anyone accountable for their speech for 48 hours after a tragedy due to our inate ability to say things that really are based on emotion. I think many have been hurting and reacting . . .

. . .jumping from the other soap box now . . .LOL

Just had a BBC news alert saying that a hostage and the gunman have been shot dead at NASA in Texas :sad2:

It has to be electronic. They get the newest cool stuff early. Look at video and digital cameras.

The news here just reported the same thing. They called him a contractor working at the Space Center. No reasons given yet. :sad2:

Captain, I read the junior POTC AWE book I picked up at a Scholastic book fair last week. Not sure I like the plot and it seemed that it was another open ending. Maybe POTC 4?

Oh! We didn't realize that was available already.

It's just gone midnight here in the UK so I'm off to bed.

Goodnight all !!

David

They have code 300 drills every month at school and know that it is for when a bad person comes into the school to try to hurt people.

Great now some districts have the kids paranoid....

They don't do stuff like that here....

They do have code "names" to lock down the school though...

I kid you not - my kids schools has lockdown procedures for when there is a moose or bear on the playground.

It happens a few times a year.

I got trapped in a building at U of Alaska for about 45 minutes when a moose was eating the shrubs just outside the door.
