Hi everyone!
I am sorry I haven't posted for awhile. I have been reading and trying to keep up except for the last day or two. Those days I couldn't even read because everytime *I* came to the board it was down for upgrades for hours! I told y'all I have bad luck! I must have been coming here everytime it was down.
I also lost all my quotes I was saving to multi-quote. They didn't show up when I clicked now to make a post.
I have been very busy lately and if anyone has said they miss me- thank you, I am just behind on my reading now since the board was down so much, atleast for me?
I do have some good news though!!!!
First off I am getting some use of my right side of my face and mouth back! Things don't taste quite as weird (my saliva and water do not taste salty anymore and most foods taste okay, but anything 'sweet' still tastes weird. Which I guess is a good thing. I ended up losing 7lbs in less than 2wks without even trying, probably because everything tasted so horrible! LOL), my lips are funtioning better on the right side and my eye closes a little easier. I am still not 100% and my face is not back symetric with the left- but it's an improvement!!!
Secondly, been busy lately with my oldest (Ruby) practicing to try out for cheerleader. Here they can only try out for middle school (what used to be jr. high for us old fogeys I guess LOL) cheerleading once they are in 7th grade, for 8th grade (in other words then all the cheerleaders are 8th graders) and she's never really been a cheerleader before. Okay so one year in 2nd grade she was in the little league cheerleading- you know the kind you register and pay for... it's not quite the same and it was some years ago anyway. She's obviously in 7th grade now.
ANYWAY, she does have physical ability in some respects (she is athletic, she can do the jumps HIGH and some tumbling she just learned on her own... mostly learned on her own on the trampoline we had up until a couple of years ago but never took gymnastics or tumbling or anything like that) and she CAN be loud if she's not being shy... ie: she's has lungs on her but is a bit shy in some situations especially around her peers. But she also has ADHD and it's not just real easy for her to immediately "get" complicated things- and they had to do a really complicated cheer and a super complicated dance to REALLY fast music... so she had to do some heavy practicing and the way they were teaching them in "chunks" of the dance especially was confusing for her. she was learning each "chunk" (or part) but having difficulty then putting it all together. So on Monday I taped one of the present cheerleaders (from behind so Ruby would be looking at it properly instead of learning things backwards) on the cheer and dance and she practiced her little heart out Monday and Tuesday night- they only had a week, 3 practices after school, to learn all this! The first we heard about the tryouts was last week!
Okay on to my point- they had tryouts today and out of about 45 girls that tried out- she made the cheerleading squad of 13 girls!!! I am proud of her hard work, she made the squad when many of the girls trying out had been cheerleaders (private leagues- not in school because this is the first year they can try out for cheerleading in school) and/or tumbling for YEARS. Ruby has had neither, yet she still made the squad.
She is so excited, and I'm so excited for her. She's had some disappointments in the past and especially this year- not making the bball team, not making the volleyball team... she did make the track team but it also didn't work out for her on a soccer team this season (long story about that) after playing 2 seasons every year for so many years... they "forgot" to recommend her for GT this year even though they said they would (and should have when she was younger, like they did with Robert), etc. etc.
Ruby is more the athletic type than the "girly" type but she enjoyed getting fixed up for the tryouts (martha stewart I may not be, but I can sure make some mega-ribbons ponytail holders and triple ribbon/triple color shoelaces by gosh! LOL Okay so I learned that thru necessity with my youngest DD who does cheerleading for Upwards...) and even just the practice and tryouts seemed to help her get over some of her shyness, and that's good because she's going to have to get completely over it. Who ever heard of a shy cheerleader?!? LOL
So anyway, I've been busy this week and going to keep on being busy- now we have all these meetings and things with cheerleading, the girls are camping out over the weekend with their GS troops, etc. etc. I am trying to keep up on the reading though, when the board isn't down when I come here, so don't feel like I'm completely ignoring everyone please!
