I think the genre is "mostly rock". Miles Davis has one at #12. Robert Johnson #27 :confused3 IMO, not rock, but if you are going to put that one on the list it should be much higher.

They got it right with The Clash, but the Sex Pistols aren't on the list until 47, behind the Ramones at 31. Now if we are talking about far-reaching influence, which I think they are with Sgt. Pepper, Revolver and Pet Sounds, then they missed the punk boat, so to speak. You can still hear those influnces in alt. rock today.

I thought the same thing about the release dates. Maybe all the reviewers were the same-ish age. Anyone anywhere near my age would put Nirvana's Nevermind & U2's Joshua Tree in the top 10 (17 & 26 respectively).

It's just surprising that NONE of the bands from the late 70's through the mid-to-late 80's made the top 10.

Maybe we're biased because we grew up with that music. I graduated HS in '86.

Just realized that there is a 23 minute time difference between my computer clock and the Dis clock. Does anyone else have this problem?

Karen

Yep, it has been this way for a long time Karen................

I know what you mean............we're supposed to get up to 74* on Wednesday, 72* on Thursday, then possible sn*w Saturday and again on Monday...........:sad2: :sad1: :sad2:

Andy,

You must be home for lunch. What's on the menu today?

We're looking at 68* here today (that is balmy for this time of year - about 30* over normal). It is suppose to cool off by Thursday. Not sure about any snow, but we usually get hit this time of year. My Grandma's 98th b-day is on Saturday and we are heading up to Green Bay to celebrate. Almost every year in the past since my wife and I have been going up for her b-day, we have gotten a MAJOR storm either right before or on that day.

Wow, sounds like everyone's in for a great weather day today. :daisy:
For me, it should be close to 80.

I think I'm just to fix myself a protein shake for lunch today, not feeling all the hungry.

OK, now I'm really feeling old...............:faint: :faint: :faint:

Andy, look at the bright side, you're not old enough to be my dad. I'm sure there are DISers here however that are only in their late 20's.

I'm dreading the day we hire someone here that has a b-day in the 1990's. Bad enough I had an intern that was born after my HS graduation. :sad1:

Here is an interesting situation...my sunscreen is frozen!
I went shopping yesterday during lunch, so it sat in my car all day.
I wonder if freezing alters the effectiveness of sunscreen.
I wonder if I am the first person in the history of the world to freeze a bottle of sunscreen.

I'm off to work. Hi Ho and whatnot.

The warm weather will do that to you. Unless your on the Magic, then you eat no matter how warm it is. :rotfl2:

Ain't that the truth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

The boards seem to be running in S-L-O-W motion at the moment........:confused3

WOW!!!!

Y'all are slacking off!

Here I come to try and ketchup since I hadn't really read the thread since Friday and where do I find it? Not in the first three slots in "Disney Cruise Meets"...not even in the first 5....but all the way down to #9!!! Right above The Med Thread. :sad2: I knew there would be lulls in posting but geez....

Oh Crud! It just dawned on me, I'm driving for a field trip on Friday. My dd's class is going to U of M Dearborn to see maple sugaring (is that a word?). And it's all outside!:scared1: Maybe the weathermen will be wrong!

It's 62* now. Least we had a great weekend so I could clean out the car for the field trip!

Rolling Stone 10 Greatest Albums of all time:

1. Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, The Beatles
2. Pet Sounds, The Beach Boys
3. Revolver, The Beatles
4. Highway 61 Revisited, Bob Dylan
5. Rubber Soul, The Beatles
6. What's Going On, Marvin Gaye
7. Exile on Main Street, The Rolling Stones
8. London Calling, The Clash
9. Blonde on Blonde, Bob Dylan
10. The Beatles ("The White Album"), The Beatles

Discuss . . .

Like any "top 10" list on any subject, it often tells you more about who made the list than about the actual items listed (or those missing) . . . obviously the editorial staff of Rolling Stone magazine averages age 60 or greater, I'd say! Not than most wouldn't agree on the merits of some of those albums, but it is totally limited to a certain era. Not to have something by U2 (I'd go with Achtung Baby or How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb) or Nirvana's Nevermind . . . even Green Day's American Idiot -- well, just seems like a age-biased list to me (but the very nature of making a list like that makes bias unavoidable).

Glad you had fun . . . looking forward to seeing progress on the shirts! Of course one would think we needed them for a trip next month instead of 17 months from now . . .

The Beatles don't surprise me (what does is the number 4), neither does Pet Sounds by the Beach Boys. Not a huge fan of Dylan. What does surprise me is that not one of these was released after 1980 (London Calling was released in Dec 79 in GB and Jan 80 in USA).

Well when were ready , we will have 3 buying times ....this way everyone will get a chance to order .....Last order will be three months before the trip, I think that by then everyone will have there final payment in and know for sure they are going .....I actually may wear mine on the Med Repo to advertise the next trip ...LOL
