We IN!:yay: :yay: :yay:

That would be me jumping with joy. My DH decided to take the risk and on Friday booked the rooms for us. A big deal since in soon to be 20 years of marriage this is the first trip he has booked. I am the offical family travel agent.

The entire family is so excited and I have shifted into panic mode. - not really - but I usually start months out and I feel really behind. I am trying to read everything you guys have put out there. Which is an amazing and almost overwhelming amount. - what a great group.

We linked our dining this morning. If there are any other deadlines please PM me so I don't miss them.

:dance3: :dance3: Just one more happy dance before I post!:dance3: :dance3:

WELCOME!!!!!

OK - it looks like everyone is jumping over to Cartagena#5. If we want to just eliminate #4 and change it to #5, we can go along with this. DS & I are not thrilled with the idea of the inquisition museum, but worst case, we can walk around the Plaza de Bolivar or maybe visit the cathedral which looks like it is right there during that time. I'm sure there is plenty to see and DS will like having other kids on the tour with us.

Those of us with over-active imaginations (DS & me!) can have trouble with some of this stuff - we both had parts of the Pirate Soul museum in Key West we would have been happier not seeing (other parts were fine). I still have memories of how upset I was over the Dungeons at Warwick Castle in England when I was 12.

Awwwww.....

Gee wiz Pamela, ... it's not as if they throw any of the "tourists" onto the rack or into a guillotine yanno' ...

Ooops....

So why is the guy in the white shirt smiling so fiercely? He figure on stretching the gratuities a bit outta this tourist or som'thin'?

and to be perfectly candid ... you couldn't PAY me enuf ta ever stick my head in this thing. It DOES make my skin crawl a bit just imagining it in real life...

Well as long as the sun is out, then 74 should feel quite warm. The good news is that Mary Ann is inland a bit so she is usually warmer than I am here on the north shore. Hopefully the storms will hold off till the afternoon. :wizard:

Edited to add: I just pulled up the forcast & they are saying showers in the am & then clearing so that should work out perfectly...if it's true!

Sounds good... I had not looked at the hourly forecast for tuesday yet.

So - I got my driving route figured - I just have ta work on my "courage" now for hittin' your Boston streets with the wild drivers out here!

Well all...I am asking for another prayer from you this weekend. My best friend in the World has been battling cancer for a year now. Last May..she thought she has a bladder infection and it turned out to be kidney cancer. They removed the kidney and all was well...in October they noticed spots on her lungs so they biopsied..unfortunately, it came back cancer of the lung and lymph nodes. She has been in chemo for 6 months and finished her treatment last week ..she just had a pet scan and cat scan in hopes that the chemo worked. Unfortunately, it doesn't seemed to have shrunk the cancer at all .. she is scheduled for surgery on Monday to do more biopsies from 2 locations to see what they can do. I am heartbroken for her and her family. She has 2 daughters. Please keep her in yor prayers this weekend that the Doctors are able to find the treatment that works for her. I appreciate it!

I'm truly sorry to hear of this....

... as some may already recall - we've had a good friend who has been battling renal cancer - it was diagnosed a little over a year ago as advanced with what we understood to be a prognosis of something like 10% chance of reaching 2 years. Well... she took treatment and had surgery to remove one of her (kidneys?) ... and then they discovered the cancer had spread - and they found a lump in her head (brain) - which they removed. Fortunately, there appears to be no change to her mind or memories. That was a few months ago - and just a week or so back we learned they had found another lump growing in her head. So they're going to try some kind of gamma knife (focused radiation) then probably surgically remove it again. The chemo they've recently started is costing $8000 a month however, it is one of those "new age" medications which is "targeted". It has minimal side effects but is clinically proven to be effective for a significant number of patients. Fortunately, her health insurance is good and is mostly paid for by insurance (whew - Alicia works for the same company - so we now know the health insurance benefits are generous enough).

This has actually been very VERY sad for us and obviously tragic for them - however, we are soldiering on to be supportive and enabling in having good times as usual as much as possible with them. What can anyone really do in times like this... they have a young child and they're approximately our age! Gee... :confused3 ... I had been driving our friend to her clinical visits - having some long chats with her about all kinds of things ... enuf so to brings some tears to my eyes as I drove at times. Alas, that is how it is sometimes, eh?

How high would you say our chances of running into a hurricane or bad weather are?

Happy Father's Day to all applicable swabbies and Captains.

How high would you say our chances of running into a hurricane or bad weather are?

In 2005, this cruise went into very rough seas, we went through the tail end of a hurricane and missed Cabo San Lucas, going into port the following day at Manzanillo.

The ship did 'move' a lot in the active seas,(Cabo day) and out of LA it was cold first sea day.

We had some rain in Acapulco, arriving in a storm, but then it turned out nice, following that we had good weather for the rest of the trip, but we had a storm at Castaway on arrival, and Hurricane Katrina was doing her worst in New Orleans when we were in the Southern Caribbean.

Its a risky time, but I hope we have a better trip this time.

Your friend and family is in my prayers

I just wanted to wish all our Dads - Happy Father's Day!

I hope your day is Magical!

We are off in a few minutes..last minute errands for the trip tomorrow and then off to our annual Father's Day BBQ at a friends house..I still need to pack! :scared1:

How high would you say our chances of running into a hurricane or bad weather are?

ZERO...

... the ship always sails away or around bad weather, however... if you meant to say - how likely it would be for our voyage to BE INFLUENCED by bad weather while enroute? Well... it IS hurricane season while we're sailing - and as we draw into the Carib the season is waning... I would say it is minimal however a remote possibility. However, any hurricane would have to directly cross our path at about the right time! Whenever possible - they would simply adjust the port rotation or route - and we'd be mostly fine I'd say... however... here is some data for your consideration:

SO - may I simply suggest you consider the following...

Thank god summer break is here !!
DS11's team won the championship. The score was 2-1 & they played 6 innings in an hour. Quickest game I was ever at.

Congratulations on both accounts! LOL!

It is an exciting/panic feeling, isn't it? :lmao:

Okay, I'm back from the hectic portions of my life. DS's wedding was very nice and HOT!, as it was held outside. DB's wedding was also outside, but we all wore shorts as it was a barbeque style wedding. It wasn't all that hot out.
I know I missed alot. I was trying to ketchup some, but I'm still only on page 110. I may just skip a few pages. I hope to be on more later in the week.

Congrats on your DS's wedding! I am sorry it was outside and hot!

Good morning all! And Happy Father's Day! DD (18mo) made a handprint cookie for daddy this morning.

Cute!!! We made a Chocolate Fudge cake for dh!

:lmao: That is COLD! LOL! I hope y'all have a great day!!!

I am so excited! I happened to go online to our airlines webiste and our tickets had actually dropped $30 a ticket from Seattle to Orange County. I called the airline and they are giving me a $90 travel voucher to be used within one year! I love to save money!:cool1:

Does anyone know if they charge to park at the Grand Californian? It is the first time we have stayed there and I don't know. We are vacation club members, does that make any difference? Thanks for any information!

I'm really happy for you.

Unfortunately, for me, the opposite was true.

I had a vacation scheduled in December and, for many reasons, the dates had to shift. I was able to get what I wanted at Disney, however, the change in ticket cost me an extra $173 -- $73 for the fare differential and $100 for a change in ticket. This is with American Airlines. They told me that was because I had purchased my ticket earlier than their cut off because now changes in tickets incur $150 plus differential. Oy ve!
