ATTENTION
ALL PIRATES STAYING AT/NEAR
DISNEYLAND RESORT
PRIOR TO THE CRUISE

I just noticed my countdown clock is at 67 days and I know many of you are staying at/near DLR prior to sailing. Reservations(Priority Seating) for DLR dining can be made 60 days in advance. That would mean this week at some point depending on your arrival date. I would highly recommend making reservations for any of the character meals, sit down restaurants (in the parks or hotels), and especially the Blue Bayou. Disneyland Resort dining number is (714) 781-3463. They are open 7am-9pm PDT.

Disneyland works differently, they do not take into account the months that have 31 days. It is 60 days from the date itself. For August 11 you can make reservations starting today, June 11.

Thanks Roger & Jo! Linda and I just came up with a list of some places we'd like to try. Guess I can start making ressies tomorrow!

If y'all could...we could use some prayers....

DH's father became very ill duringthe night/today. He refused to go to the Dr for MIL. So, BIL called dh -- FIL is more likely to listen to my dh then he is to other family members. DH took him this afternoon to the Emergency Room. They are still there having tests run.

FIL is 78 but, extremely healthy -- golf 4 or 5 times a week, etc... Worked full time (CEO until this last month and now a *consultant* for the company), etc....

MIL doesn't do well with illness and she said that he looked just like *Ruby before she died * (she died of pancreatic cancer about 6 months ago).

FIL, MIL & DH cold use the prayers!!!

I'm so glad that Jon got him to go to the ER.

Your FIL and your family will be in our prayers.

WELCOME ABOARD:yay: :yay:
Maybe if you call every day and bug them a lot, they will come through with those rooms together for you:thumbsup2
We're still GTY, so there should be some rooms left that are close:confused3

Take it from a trouble maker, that doesn't work!;)

Yes, BB will get full, but not right on the 60 day mark. There will be some seating for a few days while everyone figures out their plans.

FYI - if anyone is planning on BB specifically for the Monte Cristo, it is only served at lunch. However, they also serve it at Cafe Orleans for a little less money.

We want to eat at Blue Bayou for the atmosphere. Would you recommend lunch or dinner?

Just a reminder, there are a few threads about DL dining over on the Pirate Zone.

As stated early, the only must do for me is Goofy's Kitchen. They have brunch and dinner character meals, very similar to Chef Mickeys. There are other character meals, but this one has consistently been good for us. The only one I haven't tried is Storyteller's Breakfast with Chip n Dale. It always gets good reviews, but we just haven't made it there yet.

Blue Bayou is a must do really only for the ambience, not the food.

A consistenly good meal but not neccessarily a must do for us is Wine Country Trattoria in DCA.

The dining is nothing like WDW. You don't have nearly as many choices but it might be nice to have at least one PS every day so you wouldn't have to wait in long counter service lines.

You can very easily go offsite, either Downtown Disney or on Harbor Bl. Each location is the same distance from the front gates, DD on one side, Harbor on the other.

Wow! I think I am the only one on here right now! I guess that is what happens when your down from surgery and can't do anything!!!! It's tv or this. :cool1:

A question for later since there is no one here now.

Do any of you make countdown ropes for the trip? Our kids love to make them and tear them off one day at a time.

Have you tried any of the special order stuff like Avon or Mary Kay? I remember liking how Mary Kay felt until I realized that I was VERY allergic to it... Nothing else ever bothered me like the Mary Kay sunblock...

::yes:: I am allergic to those "hypoallergenic" Mary Kay Products too..

Then again i break out from Ivory soap. Weird Huh...

Sorry to hear this Stephanie, your entire family will be in our prayers.

Ditto Steph....

Don't forget you are invited to the mini meet on July 12 th too!!!

Thanks, but I will be on my way to Boy Scout camp that day. (Although after hearing about what happened tonight in Iowa, I will make sure my weather radio has batteries. It is a very night for Scouters.)

No but i think i do tear a small clump of hair out every day worrying what i don't have or will forget or have to do without...

Most of the menu is the same. Monte Cristo is only at lunch, Crab Legs are only at dinner. Once you're inside, you won't know whether it's day or night, cuz it's always night at the Blue Bayou. It used to be that the lunch entrees cost less, but not so anymore. I guess it depends on when you want a break from the crowds. A break from the heat of the day is nice with lunch.

No, no rope, but then again my DS is 12. He might secretly enjoy it but would never admit to it. I did my own version of the countdown calendar that was posted a few weeks ago. That's up on the wall next to our regular calendar.

Guess I was spelling it wrong too. But based on the number of hits I got when using 'cumberbund' many other people were too.

BTW, I wasn't saying you were spelling it wrong. I was just saying that is how I always spelled it - cummerbund. Or in the words of Opus, cumberbuzzle.

I didn't take any offense to it. It just got me curious so I checked all kinds of different spellings of it. Spell check in Word likes cummberbund and nothing else. But ebay sellers use very creative versions.

We got it at dinner one time.... Just asked for it :) Do they have the PB&J Monty Cristo at Cafe Orleans? Man that just doesn't sound good :rotfl2:

All this talk about sunscreen/block maybe someone can help me out.
I need something for my FACE that blocks the sun but doesn't make my face all greasy because that makes me break out! I have to keep the sun off my face because I have this awful (ugh I hate it!) brown splotches on my face (pregnancy mask that never left... and gets worse with the sun) and it will get darker and darker with the slightest bit of sun on my face- and now it's not just on my cheeks but working it's way up (slowly over the years) around the outside of my face up to my forehead! I put sunblock on but it's all either
A) greasy and makes my face break out- so I end up looking like a zitface all summer long- my T-zone is oily anyway without the sunblock!
B) if I try to use the spray stuff- it works better but if I swim or sweat or anything then it gets in my eyes and burns like you wouldn't believe.

I've tried the neutrogena face stick and various other things meant for the face and says non-greasy but it's SO greasy.. they so lie. Anyone have any suggestions for sunblock for the face that doesn't make your face super greasy and is waterproof so it doesn't burn the eyes? Please let me know!

I have really sensitive skin, I pretty much burn under artificial light and break out for virtually any reason at all. I have found the best non-greasy sunscreen for me is Coppertone "Faces" - not sure of the exact name but its fabulous. Its lovely and soft, more like a nice moisturiser than a heavy sunscreen. I don't know if its waterproof though so you would need to reapply often if you are swimming or perspiring.

Thanks Monica. I knew I could count on you for DL advice!:thumbsup2

ack!

Well they may change things in the future here but up until last year here they had intermediate for 5th/6th graders and only 7th/8th in middle school. So towards the end of 7th grade they could try out for cheerleader and that meant cheerleaders were always in 8th grade (they'd try out for next year). NOW they changed all the 5th graders back to elementary schools, changed the intermediate school into another middle school and divided up all the 6/7/8th graders into the middle schools. So who knows- in the future they might decide that they can try out in 6th grade and be cheerleaders in 7th grade or both grades. Is it kinda unfair to try out in 6th grade and "no cut" so they stay cheerleaders for 2yrs? I dunno. but here only 8th graders, at the present time, are cheerleaders. She didn't try out for highschool cheerleading -even though I told her the same cheerleaders wouldn't be cheerleaders since they, and their moms, all said they WERE NOT trying out again (so they could be in athletics- all of them were in athletics this previous year- even those in band quit band so they could do cheerleading and athletics, except my Ruby who stayed in band and gave up athletics) BUT she chose soccer instead and I'm glad she did because they lied. the entire squad tried out again and about 3/4ths of them made highschool cheerleading so I'm GLAD she chose not to- she would have been with those same girls!
(and btw- they weren't just mean- they were downright dangerous.. like dropping Ruby -she was a topper- and threatening to drop her, threatening to bite her while they held her up, etc. And they got away with this behavior because the coach let them stay on the squad and just ended up not using Ruby as a topper as much! Really taught THEM a lesson huh? not..... except this year the cheerleaders had to perform at the parents meeting for the tryouts for NEXT year and during that parents meeting she gave a long lecture, that she had not given to our parents meeting the previous year, about how they can't threaten to harm anyone or drop them/etc. why she decided to implement that in the FUTURE but not at that present time is beyond me. long story though. anyway just wanted to explain this wasn't simply they weren't nice to her- it was downright dangerous for her to do stunts with girls like that!)
so I'm glad she didn't take my advice and didn't try out again. LOL
See- sometimes moms aren't always right..... (she did really like cheerleading though...)

That is awful! Very dangerous too. My daughter was a back spotter and twice someone forgot to say drop or down or whatever it is and they fell on her face. She had glasses at the time, so that didn't work so well. Needless to say, she got contacts in February. There were a couple girls on the squad that were a little bossy, but nothing dangerous. She is very excited about band in high school and wants to do swim team for the high school, (she has already been swimming for 5 years), but it looks like our pool will close without some miracle happening, so she would have to swim for a high school that is 1/2 hour away. I don't think she would even do that, so I'm not sure what she will do. She is devastated about the pool. Even if she is having a bad day, she always comes out of the pool with a smile on her face. So disappointing. Glad your daughter decided to play soccer. I think that was a good choice. I wouldn't want to cheer with those girls either.
