Fellow Pirates, we've seen the Shutters staff taking pics of the crew during the lock portions of the transit and the fine assortment of colours the WB crew were flying.......

So swabbies and wenches, what colours will ye be flying on Panama day? We'll have this 3x5 beauty attached to our verandah:

How did you make it?

As for A/c discussion- we couldn't live without it. I can't imagine a house or a vehicle without it! I remember when we were younger we lived in a house without a/c and we used WATER COOLERS. Do you know what that is? It's like a glorified fan that blows water too- so like this mist is blown in your house. can you say humid? LOL ugh, never again.
But then we live in Texas so well... we could probably live without heat (if we HAD to) since we rarely get long periods of time of cold weather and hardly ever turn the heater on and that's easily remedied by a fireplace anyway- but a/c? we gotta have a/c.

Around here, it's common to have swamp coolers. My parents finally got rid of theirs a couple years ago and went for regular a/c. Is that the same thing? Swamp coolers do humidify a little bit, but in a place with like 8% humidity, that's usually welcome. BUT during the rainy season at the end of the summer, there is already humidity in the air so they're not very effective then...

My family is from County Galway, Ireland. DH suggested we fly the Galway flag, it would be unique! I still haven't decided.

Are a lot of people planning on flying flags?

I think I've asked this before...but how are you "flying" them from your verandah's?

ambidextrous I think it's called? I write left handed- but I bet I can write righthanded better than most righthanded people can write lefthanded. I throw, bat, catch, scissors, etc. right handed.

Where did you live in CT?

Things have changed regarding A/C around here. Everyone I know has it, at least in the bedrooms.

People have gotten so weak around here, they have let school out 1/2 day 2 days this week because of heat. It was in the 90's - hot, yes, but you're not going to die. They did not let us out in the 1970's - what's so different? Those were the days, we walked to school, 5 miles, uphill, both ways, fighting off bears with a looseleaf notebook....

That cracks me up. But I guess it's because the schools don't have a/c? If they don't have a/c then 90 in the schools is pretty hot. But it's above 90 so much here- there is no way they could close school early that often (yes, they have a/c in the schools here)

So was I! And the rest of my family. We had a WONDRful trip!!

Someone after my own heart!!!! I use sonBLOCK not sunscreen. I'm totally ok with being white. DH is naturally a little *olive skinned* and so is 17dd. Everyone else is more like me......

I use Neutrogena Sunblock, Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch in either the 55 or 85 -- they came together in a pkg from Costco.

All this talk about sunscreen/block maybe someone can help me out.
I need something for my FACE that blocks the sun but doesn't make my face all greasy because that makes me break out! I have to keep the sun off my face because I have this awful (ugh I hate it!) brown splotches on my face (pregnancy mask that never left... and gets worse with the sun) and it will get darker and darker with the slightest bit of sun on my face- and now it's not just on my cheeks but working it's way up (slowly over the years) around the outside of my face up to my forehead! I put sunblock on but it's all either
A) greasy and makes my face break out- so I end up looking like a zitface all summer long- my T-zone is oily anyway without the sunblock!
B) if I try to use the spray stuff- it works better but if I swim or sweat or anything then it gets in my eyes and burns like you wouldn't believe.

I've tried the neutrogena face stick and various other things meant for the face and says non-greasy but it's SO greasy.. they so lie. Anyone have any suggestions for sunblock for the face that doesn't make your face super greasy and is waterproof so it doesn't burn the eyes? Please let me know!

Sounds similar and might be the same thing except ours sure huidified more than a "little bit" like you described. It was literaly like... let's say for example you were to take a box fan and run a water hose behind it- like that. LOL

I plundered the artwork from Esteri then added the names in PhotoShop and then took it to our local sign/banner shop.

The Raw print file is 76MB, the font is Windlass (available on the net), 800dpi, 9200x6400

Does that actually work? How long do you need to use it to look tanned? How long does it last?

I used it just on my legs for 1 week to see if it would work and what I thought. That was a week ago and I'm still fairly "tan." I'm pasty white, so anything darker than glow-in-the-dark is good!

I turn Orange with that one.... not too attractive..

I felt like i looked more like a victim of jaundice than tanned.

I haven't turned orange with this one. I do notice that my ankle joints and backs of knees get a little darker than the rest of my legs. I just stopped applying to those areas so liberally and they look great now.

As someone who has had 3 surgeries at this point due to skin cancer- I say Jergens is just fine.

I think it works. I am fairly dark skinned naturally and I used it sometimes last year. The only thing I did not like it it stunk something awful! I would put it on right before I went to bed just to avoid the smell. They may have improved on that.

The smell is bad, but if you put it on right before bed, you can shower in the morning. OR, I shower in the morning, so I put it on right after my shower and then after it is absorbed I follow it with a light layer of regular pretty smelling stuff. It works for me!

It's really quite snazzy. Done by a Canadian company that manufactures them.

Alicia puts on 60,000 in a shade a little over 2 years! And I used to haqve 40,000 mile years of driving - and that's INCLUDING me flying about 1/3rd of the time! Good thing Alicia has a company paid car ... I on the other hand had no such luck. So long distance nomadic existances are nothing new to Alicia and I.​

Wow you drive a lot. My 2000 go-about-town-car just turned 80,000 miles. The long trips (vacations, dog shows, etc) are put on the Dog Mobile - but then then we're only put 25K on it in something like 3 years.

I really can't recommend using zazzle.com!

I had to spend HOURS last night redoing shirts and magnets and stuff over and over because it kept emptying my cart in the middle of the checkout process.
Then once I went to pay the code, that they state on their website, for free shipping didn't work. But I emailed them and they responded by email that they would refund the shipping.

Then I get an email that my entire magnet portion of my order (which means only the shirts are left?) is being cancelled because they cannot do any orders that "contain copyright or trademark protected title, name, or image".

So basically you can't use pictures of yourself on the cruise, you can't use the words disney or disney cruise line, can't use the banner we made for this cruise, and some of the magnets even just said "dis on board" with my username and our family name (the one that is showing on the pirates zone website). UGH! I'm so annoyed.I spent soooooooo much time ordering those but because they have the word disney in them they won't make them! And I know some of the magnets didn't even have anything copyrighted on it- but they cancelled the entire magnet portion (meaning only the shirts left) because SOME of them contained what they think is copyrighted names/images/etc?
I thought I was all set with a button for our kids FE at the top and the magnets for our doors- but they won't make them. So everyone HAS to make them theirselves- you can't get any company to make them? Or is it only zazzle that has a problem with it?

sigh I know Disney wouldn't care if I put a picture of my kids (in the port with mickey on the last cruise) on a magnet to put on my stateroom door. I think this is a bit over the top. sigh

Is anyone else using some place to make the magnets for you or are you all making them by yourself? I was going to but the magnet paper I bought the backing when you take it off- the magnet isn't sticky! so I have to return this to the store and I thought it would just be easier to buy a few already made for me. sigh

Have you tried vistaprint.com? Through all the wedding planning I have found that they get great customer service reviews and I think you can order onesies of things if you need. I'd check them out. MagnetStreet.com is another one that people use for their STD cards. I haven't used either site yet, but I've only heard great things about them. Good luck!

Thanks to all of you for your great party advice. I really appreciate it. You gave me some great ideas. She has gone to youth group with some boys, swim team with boys, and the school dances. But, yes, all closely supervised. She mostly hung out with her friends at the dance and only talked to the boys she is friends with. I'll keep you posted.

Funny thing, with the age change and the clubs on the ship, she is thrilled to be staying in Ocean Quest. She said she isn't ready to be in the stack with the older kids. For us it worked out ok. She is a great kid...cheerleader, straight A's, band, Girl Scouts, youth group, and swimming. She was just inducted into Honor Society a couple weeks ago and just found out yesterday that she is going to be the Secretary. She was so excited!

Some other DIS'er had the same problem on our Magic cruise last October, they were drying to do DIS/Magic buttons. IHMO as Zazzle has licensed Disney's official images, they are very protective of anything even close (remotely connected) to Disney.

One of our cruisemates finally had a design which said 'Sailing on the ship which cannot be named'
