I could use some help from the mom's out there. My DD13 has been invited by two school friends to a boy/girl party on Sunday. I don't know the parents of either of the kids who are hosting the party, but it is long--5 hours! I was never allowed to go to girl/boy parties growing up and I'm trying to give my daughter a little more freedom than I had. My husband was the 5th of 6 kids and I think by the time his mom got to him, she was just plain tired. My DD is very responsible, makes good choices, but I really have some concerns about this. Do they really need to be going to boy/girl parties at this age? Maybe this age is ok, and it is when they are older that I really need to worry. There is a boy at school she likes, but she won't even talk to him and he doesn't really know who she is, but she does have some other boys she is friends with which I am ok about. I will call the parents, but what kinds of questions do you ask, other than will you be there, how many kids are coming, what will they be doing? Have any of you let your kids go to a party like this? I realize this isn't cruise related, but I could use some help. Her BFF is also invited, but her mom just said at some point I (meaning friend's mom) have to trust her, and her morals and values. I think kids can get into awkward situations at this age and just not yet have the experience to get out of them. Thanks for any suggestions!:confused3

Assuming you talk to or meet the parents and they'll be there, it's unlikely that anything problematic will happen - at that age (later you have to be concerned with drugs/alcohol, missing parents, etc).

Be sure you also weigh the social consequences of not attending. That has risks as well, and at that age they can be significant.

I've tried the neutrogena face stick and various other things meant for the face and says non-greasy but it's SO greasy.. they so lie. Anyone have any suggestions for sunblock for the face that doesn't make your face super greasy and is waterproof so it doesn't burn the eyes? Please let me know!

Try the Neutragena *dry touch* sunblock. It can be used on the face, also. It is not greasy!

I plundered the artwork from Esteri then added the names in PhotoShop and then took it to our local sign/banner shop.

The Raw print file is 76MB, the font is Windlass (available on the net), 800dpi, 9200x6400

When we were in High School dh had a jeep and we used to go 4 wheeling (here you don't call it jeeping, you call it 4 wheeling). And then until about 10 yr ago his parents owned about 300 ac on the Brazos and he would take my Trooper there to 4 wheel. Now we both own vehicles that are 4 wheel drive. :thumbsup2

Is anyone else using some place to make the magnets for you or are you all making them by yourself? I was going to but the magnet paper I bought the backing when you take it off- the magnet isn't sticky! so I have to return this to the store and I thought it would just be easier to buy a few already made for me. sigh

My magnet paper is paper on one side and a magnet on the other and I run it through my printer.....

Right on! Here is my new baby in Pismo Beach for Mother's Day! Its my 3rd jeep, first one CJ5, 2nd Wrangler sport and now my Wrangler Unlimited...which I LOVE!!

DH had a CJ5 or a CJ7 -- I just remember it was an odd number!!! LOL!

Disneyland works differently, they do not take into account the months that have 31 days. It is 60 days from the date itself. For August 11 you can make reservations starting today, June 11.

I was just going to point that out. Call on the number day of the month that corresponds to the number day that you want to eat.

Honestly the only thing that usually sells out on the 60 day mark is the preferred viewing for Fantasmic, and that's usually the balcony which is not even available anymore. So if you take a few days to make some plans, you'll be fine.

The only must do for us is Goofy's Kitchen for brunch, but we are going to pass on it this time. But then again, if this trip is like any other trip, once I get there, I'll start calling and see when I can squeeze it in.

If y'all could...we could use some prayers....

DH's father became very ill duringthe night/today. He refused to go to the Dr for MIL. So, BIL called dh -- FIL is more likely to listen to my dh then he is to other family members. DH took him this afternoon to the Emergency Room. They are still there having tests run.

FIL is 78 but, extremely healthy -- golf 4 or 5 times a week, etc... Worked full time (CEO until this last month and now a *consultant* for the company), etc....

MIL doesn't do well with illness and she said that he looked just like *Ruby before she died * (she died of pancreatic cancer about 6 months ago).

FIL, MIL & DH cold use the prayers!!!

ATTENTION
ALL PIRATES STAYING AT/NEAR
DISNEYLAND RESORT
PRIOR TO THE CRUISE

I just noticed my countdown clock is at 67 days and I know many of you are staying at/near DLR prior to sailing. Reservations(Priority Seating) for DLR dining can be made 60 days in advance. That would mean this week at some point depending on your arrival date. I would highly recommend making reservations for any of the character meals, sit down restaurants (in the parks or hotels), and especially the Blue Bayou. Disneyland Resort dining number is (714) 781-3463. They are open 7am-9pm PDT.

:scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

Thanks for posting this, I forgot all about booking dining.

After reading your post, I checked out the menus on Deb's site and was able to come up with a quick list of places to hit.

Just called DL and was able to book for the 10th and 11th. I'll have to call each morning to book the rest.

Hi Gang,
Busy day - and more to do! Fun later though - going out to dinner w/girlfriend to celebrate her B'day.

I was wondering how long I've been posting here - I know I lurked for awhile - so I checked: early Feb. 2007 !! For some reason I thought I lurked longer!

BTW - the make-up I use is a natural sun block. I use mineral make-up = titanium dioxide and zinc oxide. The brand I use is Colorescience. Bare Escentuals is a well know brand - I tried it - but it irritated my skin. Jane Iredale also has a line. My dermatologist suggested I use this after a laser treatment I had. I also use a clear miieral powder on DGS Matt as a sun block. It's spf 20 and very water resistant.

She sounds a lot like my daughter- even though my daughter is 14 now they should get along great I hope! My daughter tends to gravitate towards the younger group (like in school most of her friends, boys and girls, were 7th graders. all her "best friends" from her same age group moved to the new middle school last year now that they had 2 middle schools and all the new friends she made last year were in 7th grade even though she was in 8th grade!) but they have a lot of similarities- well she WAS straight A's until this last yr but I have to give her credit even for the B's because she was put in all the advanced classes this year including one credit for highschool (algebra), she's in band, she was a cheerleader (but didn't try out for next year- didn't like the mean cheerleaders and wants to do soccer and band next year- she couldn't do soccer if she was a cheerleader), she's in girl scouts, very involved in church youth group, and loves to swim! hehe She was also in student council and Honor Society... maybe they'll get along great. :)

It sounds like they are very much alike. I bet they will get along great. Next fall will be her second year of cheerleading. They have a no-cut squad, so no tryouts, but they work very hard and I was amazed at how far they came last fall with only 4 returning from the year before. Our school last fall switched from junior high to middle school. Impressive job on the grades including algebra. That is not easy. It will be interesting to see what level classes mine ends up in for next year. I'll send you a pm. Thanks for all the help!

I say talk with the parents and make sure that they are going to be there and supervising. As long as there will be trustworthy adults there then i say she should be allowed to go - If she has a cell with text, you can text her every now and again just to see how its going, what she is doing etc. She can also let you know discreetly if there is something that she is uncomfortable with. I am so glad I finally caved and got DS a cell phone so I can keep in touch with him. He thinks it looks cool to be text messaging!

All this talk about sunscreen/block maybe someone can help me out.
I need something for my FACE that blocks the sun but doesn't make my face all greasy because that makes me break out!

Hey, I used to sell Mary Kay products until I got smart! - Long story. Anyway, I use the day solution w/ spf in it. I works great. If you send ma a PM with your address, I can mail you some samples that I have left over. You can try it before you buy it. It works great and you don't even know you have it on. I have used it for as long as it has been around (years and years). Let me make myself clear, I am not a MK consultant - I am a past MK consultant that got smart!:rotfl2:

Can we be 100% sure, NO. I appears that nothing with DCL is 100% sure. We do know that it was on the 2005 Repo and the WB 2008 Repo. If they do not have it we can all just pick a night and show up in them. :rotfl2:

Roger...We had the Mickey Club Day on the 10 Southern. I thnk it is always done on Special cruises!!!!

If you ever get to Northern California and have advance notice, you can get signed up for the public tour at the NUMMI plant - the joint Toyota/GM venture where they may have built your car. It's not actually made by Toyota for GM - it's a joint venture. But it's definitely run like a Japanese manufacturer and it's amazing to watch them build the cars. They make Vibe, Corollas and Tacoma trucks.

Wow ....Thanks for the info.:cool1: :cool1: We always thought Toyota made it for GM. :confused3 It is one of the best performing cars we ever had. ::yes:: We might be going to California next year and will keep that in mind. The way the economy looks....DLP will be just to expensive for us!!:(
