How nice is that!!!:cool1: ::yes:: I am jealous. Beautiful pictures of beautiful families!!!! How cold was the water??????

Roger, the pics were fantastic! I loved seeing them!

Crash, what a great idea you had! Inviting them to the beach. It sounds & looks like everyone had a great time!!!

OK, Cheryl & Steph: ...

Thank you for your kind thoughts. Here are a few of my images from yesterdays' mini-DIS Sunset BBQ at the Beach with Roger and Travelnfam. The water is usually quite cool - but not freezing. We lost a couple families due to it being a sunday evening and the air being very cool just before dusk. Some of the kids commented ... "this was so much fun!!!" ..."When can we do it again?!!!" ... And, of course... ..."where's the hot chocolate?"

Thanks again friends for joining us on this little bit of whimsy by the beach. And thanks for bringing stuff to make the meal enjoyable. Loved those chips and Rogers' fruit and Chinese Chicken salad was worthy of comment from Alicia! And here is a link to ALL of the photos I took - you may be surprised how FEW I shot....

oh - BTW Roger....

I did manage to get an image of the "seal" by the water line...

Of course, this is NOT an image I shot...

Sounds like they're the V.C. Andrews books of my time.

 Those books were creepy beyond belief!!! Incest, keeping children hidden in the attic for YEARS, AACCKKK!!!!!:scared1:

Those are the only creepy books I've ever read. I like things like Fanny Flagg.

I notice we seem to have quite a few young girls that are bridging from Brownies to Juniors this year! (mine included!) I was wondering if any of them would be interested in maybe trying to earn a Junior badge while on board. I would be willing to put it all together and run it. I haven't looked throufgh the book yet to see if there is an appropriate one, but I bet we could find something!

Mine isn't bridging but is still a Jr. - I think that would be great! I would be happy to help if you need anything.

And he was cop!

That was the biggest suprise of all when you finished reading the story wasn't it?!?!

SHOWS ON THE MAGIC

All Aboard
The Art of the Story
Disney Dreams
Remember the Magic
Golden Mickey
Toy Story :cool1:
Twice Charmed

No info on what will be held the other 8 nights

Hope it is Toy Story! Keeping our fingers crossed, but Tracy's comment about only having room for three sets does make sense.

We booked this hotel for Saturday 8/16 based on a good quote on Expedia. Anyone else staying here? I have read mixed reviews and would welcome comments from anyone familiar with the property.

These are great pictures! Looks like everyone had fun! I love the beach... wish I was there!

What do the other California DISers do when we can't make to DL for the DIS meet? We have our own DIS meet on the beach :yay: After all the beach is probably the only thing that could come close to DL or WDW right. Tom (CaptainCrash) invited us and travelnfam (Janelle, DH Lindsey (sp?) and their two children to a beach gathering today. We had a great time with Tom BBQing and the kids playing in the surf. We lit a bonfire and roasted marshmallows and made smores. What a great day chatting and getting to know each other. Tom and Alicia were very gracious hosts. Thank you very much for a wonderful day. What would a day at the beach with Tom be without photos. So here is my offering before he gets home and post his.

What a nice idea! Thanks for the pics Roger! :thumbsup2

Darn - sorry folks, I think I may have already posted this one. Sorry!

That's okay I love seeing them! Keep posting! :yay:

G'mornin' pirate:s
11 Mondays until TOAL. (there ya go Lisa)

MMMMmmmm Dole Whip.
Thanks for sharing the pic!

I'll take out the trash. When DH is gone for 3-4 months, I can't really pay someone to take out my trash. I can pay someone to cut my grass. I don't love yard work, but I'll do everything except cut the grass.

What's wrong? Couldn't find a hidden Mickey Speedo??

AAAWWWWW PUPPY! Too cute!

I think you're good to go at 12:01 am tonight/tomorrow morning.

Beautiful Roger! I'm glad you guys all have fun. I love the beach.

Shouldn't you be studying??? :)

Maybe they'll start Toy Story on the Magic for us.

OK, so do we need to yell at you to go study when you Dis? It seemed to work for Diane's thesis.

::yes::

Good morning everyone.. Nice sunny morning herre in Central New York.. I am off to the Doctors with my DAD.. post chemo/radiation CT scan today.. Plase keep him in your thoughts for CA free today.. He was Dx in September for Pancreatic Cancer...and is kicking butt!!!

Wishing your Dad all the best! :wizard:

Oh, I just ordered 3 books by Ms. Meyer for DD14, she is finishing one right now and actually asked me to get her another one by the same author. I think it is the first time she has ever ASKED for a book. She is not very much like DS16...she would rather talk to anyone and everyone that would listen to her...she gets that from hmmmmm, oh yeah, her mother...:cool2:

My DD is 14 too & she loved Twighlight. In fact I bought it Saturday night & she could not put it down all day yesterday. She will probably finish it in school today so looks like I'll be back to the book store tonight. ;)

Tonight at midnight.........................Here's hoping NO ONE has a stress!!!

Good luck!!!!

Hello Johnna:goodvibes

Can I say that I am jealous:rotfl: I am so glad you all enjoyed your meets yesterday. They both looked like a great way to spend the day.:goodvibes

Yes because I'll say I'm jealous too! :goodvibes

And he was cop!

And I can't speak for ALL cops but just in my family alone DH, DB, & DN are cops & they are extremely....well let's just say cautious. They all know what can possibly happen & they always expect the worst no matter where we are.

When we went on our family cruise last year, my DB marched us through the streets of Nassau at a very fast clip to the Pirate museum & he would NOT look anywhere but straight ahead. I was saying to his girlfriend, "OMG it's the first time he's ever been in the Bahamas, you'd think he'd at least want to stop & look at something!" My DH is not THAT bad, but he is not much better either & I can guarantee you that none of them would've ever gone off anywhere with anybody for any reason! ::cop:

I loved those books! I like Fanny Flagg as well. Actually, I pretty much like almost any book - except Sci Fi.

I love to read - any chance I can get I will take it. Now that summer is here I'll sit out by the pool while the boys swim and read my books. Can't leave the boys by themselves while swimming so I might as well read!

Penny

I've checked with two agents and neither can confirm that 1) When Mickey Dreams is off and 2) Toy Story is on. I'll keep checking though. Here is what they read me (which I heard a long time ago so it isn't updated):

Welcome Aboard
Golden Mickeys
When Mickey Dreams
Art of the Story
Twice Charmed
Disney Dreams
Farewell show
specialty shows (which if they disclosed information about them would ruin the surprise:rolleyes1 )
3 evening deck parties (Tropical, Mexican & Pirate)
2 afternoon deck parties (PC BBQ, ??Mouse 2.0??)

I'll keep asking.

Just a friendly reminder for all the princesses to check in on the list of participants thread on the Pirate Zone. We want to be sure to provide everyone participating with a little trinket (or two :rolleyes1 ). Signing up is not mandatory, but if you don't sign up, we can't deliver anything to you. Also, for those with no quite adult princesses, we have a few of those too, so if you want you DDs listed as well, please post there.

Hey guys, just wanted to post some pictures of some samples of the WB FE gifts.

There were some rather clever ideas and if anyone has any questions, please feel free to ask.

Has this man never seen someone 4 wheeling????? Of course you will get your clothes really filthy! LOL! That's part of the *fun*.

I read this post to DH and he said *What did he expect?*

Depends on the description....

I have ridden 4 wheelers at my mom's. I've never been covered in dirt afterwards or needed a mask. I wouldn't have thought of it unless they would tell you that ahead of time.

And quite seriously, if the ground they were covering was so steep that there was a chance your front wheels would come up. There's no way in hades i'd let my kid do it let alone even sign myself up for that in a country where i'd have no clue what kind of medical care i'd be in for if god forbid something did happen.

(Sorry Soap box moment)
It really goats me when i see parents who let their kids ride a four wheeler when the kid's legs don't even touch the ground. If it tipped, There's no way they could stop it from rolling. I've seen adults killed on 4 wheelers, and seen kids/adults who ride tandem who died because they were thrown off (my mom's #1 rule was no more than 1 person at a time). They are really not that safe to begin with.

I hate hot.
Ok and we'll be the suckers at MK on Labor Day. We only have 9-10 hours and no expectation of doing much, but it's only going to cost us parking since we have APs.

First.... why would you pay for parking? It is included free for AP holders. (look at fine print on your booklet. Unless that just changed this year.) Just show your AP to the theme park parking attendants and they let you through.

I wouldn't plan on more than 6 hours though... Didn't you mention flight was at 7? Security at the airport will be really busy that day so i'd want a full 2 hours prior. And it does take about an hour to leave park/get gas/return retal at airport.

I'm hoping we can get off the boat easier than the WB group. I'm hoping to be off by at least 9am. :worried:

We are planning on a water park day on the 1st. Crowds weren't too bad when we did that for memorial day two years ago.

Great picures and especially love the slideshow Crash! Great job.

Penny

You know folks...

... for those of you wondering if we posted these pictures just to get everyone wiggly as they lean in to view these images ... we did not.... because anyone with a little free time in the evening IN SoCAL can do exactly something like this when you visit come August.

ca_stpla.gif

I used to live in Huntington Beach - and in near by Bolsa Chica beach they had fire rings on the sand. It's not like the setting we had yesterday - but it is far more drivable to anyone staying near Disneyland or San Pedro. I'd estimate that it's maybe a 25-35 minute drive depending upon traffic and parking issues. Well... traffic can be CRAZY ... so 25 -35 minutes is if you're AVOIDING traffic and coming from Anaheim or San Pedro. This beach is located in Orange county and at the intersection of WARNER and Pacific Coast Highway - which is IN Huntington Beach. From the 405 freeway it's a good 10 minute drive.

570-7.jpg

The down side is OUR beach yesterday differs in having sycamore trees growning ON the sand, we had picnic benches and charcol grills, nice clean bathrooms (not - portable potty sheds), and we are fairly isolated - so the feel and the crowd attending is a little different.

pxhbe001.jpg

Above is Bolsa Chica with the wetlands behind it. This looks like a vintage UNDEVELOPED photo

Now... since it's been a number of years since I've done this at Bolsa Chica beach - something on the order of 2 decades ... I was going to scout it. Really, the reason I'm planning on doing so is because I have a cousin who lives down that way - who was chafing over NOT being able to join us for yesterdays' BBQ on the beach. SO I proposed we schedule something closer to his part of town. And that would be Bolsa Chica state beach.

OK... out of curiosity I googled up the link to the state park page on Bolsa Chica... and it sez there are 200 firepits... and a several "DEVELOPED" picnic areas that can be RESERVED! Wow! The photos look ... (gulp) amazing. And if they are NOT reserved then they are open to the public on a first come first served basis. Hmmmm..... :faint: here's the link: http://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=24143

And here are some pictures of some of thier reservable picnic areas:

17d3.jpg
12eold.jpg
Well now... I think I am definately going to scout this out and do something in the next month or so with my cousin. Any DIS neighbors in the city wanna join us in planning for this trial run BBQ on the sand in late JUNE or early JULY?

Here's another aerial view of the beach site I'm proposing:

083BolsaChicaHuntHarborSlBchNavWeapStFeb06S.jpg

SO, if this proves "doable" after the trial run - we COULD host a beach side BBQ for 24-48 DIS neighbors ... strictly a simple BBQ menu ... maybe near zero cost or we could split the cost to pay for a reservationor a lite pot luck thing for any who are interested. I'll shoot photos in detail of the site - have advice on parking and driving routes from various landmarks and so on.... if anyone is interested. I would tend to think maybe a FRIDAY (better Thursday) before the cruise - and folks need to weigh if they want to spend a few hours doing this out of their precious vacation time in SoCal. So I would not be surprised if this does not fly. I can come by to run this unless someone else wants to assume the leadership on this task force. IE< someone who lives closer - or anyone traveling into town - I can work closely to prepare you with very detailed maps, photos and instructions. I have family arriving at the LAX airport 5AM on saturday so I might be able to do this without any problem - but really I could really use some HELP if we are to attempt this. Especially considering how far away I live from this beach (80 miles).

OK... I gotta run now.. My 2 girls have cavities and in 30 minutes we're filing ONE of the girls' cavities. It's not bad only costing $72 for this tiny thing. The older daughter is the problem. The last time we filled cavities it cost us something like $1600 including the $1200 for the anestesiologist. (misspelled) This time we're refusing to knock her out and will just spend $230 for a stainless steel cap on a baby molar. DRAT! I'm the one with "good" teeth... and Alicia has the "bad" teeth... guess which kid got whose teth genes? :bitelip:

I saw several women on the WB wearing their tiaras even on off night -

BTW, Monica - sign me up! :lmao: If I can figure out my password again - on the piratezone - I'll sign up.

Cheryl already took care of you. Said you were wearing a tiara whehter you liked it or not!!!

First.... why would you pay for parking? It is included free for AP holders. (look at fine print on your booklet. Unless that just changed this year.) Just show your AP to the theme park parking attendants and they let you through.

We are planning on a water park day on the 1st. Crowds weren't too bad when we did that for memorial day two years ago.

Didn't know about the parking & hadn't looked that far into it yet. We always stay on property, so never had to use the AP for parking. When we had FL resident passes parking was not included. Thanks for the heads up.

No worries on the time Kristina, I'm not planning the day down to the minute. The 9-10 hours I wrote this morning was my guess without really thinking about it.

We really just plan to stroll around MK for the day. Last cruise we had late dining, so presumably off the ship later, and were standing at the MK hub at 10:30 a.m. I was basing my guess on that. We need to leave MK at about 6 p.m. to make our 8:40 flight. So we are probably talking 8-ish hours. I don't really care. It is just something to do while we wait for our flight. Since we have the APs, it's worth just going in to stroll around and get a Dole Whip!

Need your thoughts and prayers for my father today. He's got an appt with a surgeon to determine whether or not he needs surgery for a hernia. My concern is that my dad is 84 years old. I don't know how he'd pull through surgery. He was just put on blood pressure medication last month. He's fairly healthy other than memory loss, but he's getting pretty old now.

Great picture and I am jealous of the Dole Whips...

Like someone else just mentioned, our flight isn't until 8pm coming home, so we will be headed off to WDW for a few hours...which park to go to though, that is the question...

Make it a challenge to ride at least 1 E Ticket ride in each park.
