OK Jolly pirates... Are we all taking taxis to the pier?

I'm thinking it would be great to go over as a group on the public bus. (ie Way cheaper and means more money for other stuff on the TOAL)

YAY!!! I'm glad you're in.

I'm good with public transit, as long as we aren't in a time crunch.

Zipadee Doo Dah Tip for Today:

Remember to actually bring your children with you on vacation.

Well, I guess that's just the "hassle free" way!

That got me teary eyed. Can you imagine their panic and embarrassment. I count my kids all the time and always make sure that I have official "hand off" to another responsible family member. Very strict rule in my family!

wow!! this thread is moving! no time to ketchup...just wanted to say happy over the hump day to everyone!

i prefer to think of May 19th as my "Hassle ME" date with DCL.....

BTW I'm officially a jolly-pirate

"Greetings from sunny Aruba!

Thank you for your reservation, credit card information and interest in our
fun ship!

Your reservation is confirmed for 2 guests for August 28, 2008. "

But we are in Aruba on August 29.....

Only kidding. Welcome aboard!

And yes, I did almost book the zipline on the wrong day!

By the way, I am pretty sure I got a noon time, but still waiting for a response as to what we would do with DD3 while we zip...

We have "travel buddies". We are each pick 1 DS to be our buddy for the trip, so that is the one kid each of us is responsible for. Works well for things like security lines where we are likely to be separated.

Man-on-man defense as opposed to a zone.

I guess with 5 kids you have to play zone defense all the time. That's why I stopped at 2. Couldn't handle the logistics of more!

Holy Guacamole you guys!! I was only gone all day yesterday and I'm buried here! :sad2: ;)
I'll never catch back up after the wedding and the June cruise.

SORT OF CRUISE RELATED!!
Okay though...I've been thinking.....I'm sure that some of you might have things you want me to check on, or maybe questions or whatever while I'm on that cruise.
What's the best way to handle that w/o me racking up a thousand minutes on the internet reading all these pages and then answering??

I just received a confirmation for the zipline tour for noon. At least we're confirmed! It took a week and a half to get the confirmation back from them along with the instructions for payment.

I'm nervous that my 13 year-old may chicken-out when he gets there so you may have a babysitter. Otherwise, you could always leave her in the club (no flames please--this isn't the main board).

My instructions indicated that we don't have to pay until 3 days prior (or for us before we leave Denver as we won't have computer access). Is everyone else waiting until August to pay for the zipline or are you paying now?

As I've mentioned before, my DS10 is reading a kids book on the Panama Canal. A couple of nights ago he asks me if the mosquitos are still there? He was getting nervous about going through it after reading about how many people died during the making of the PC.

I had to assure him that it was now safe to go through. I told him about all of the kids who lived in the PC while the Americans were building it and how they survived with no problem. I told him once they figured out which mosquitos were the carriers of yellow fever/malaria that they spray really good for them and that the cruise ships are perfectly safe.

When does it go up? I've been meaning to stock up on Forever stamps. Am I too late?

You know the ol' phrase "Day late and dollar short?"

Well, that doesn't apply to you. Actually, you're two days late and a dollar short!

Sorry . . . you already missed the cut off. The prices went up Monday. :scared1:

No flaming...but, I am not comfortable being that far away from her. Just my thing...my DH would totally agree with you though. :)

I know we have lots of people watching etc, but I may have to bribe someone at the 1:00 zipline to switch with half of my family or something. I pay well...I am sure we will get it figured out!

I am glad we will be zipping with you, I am VERY VERY excited to do this and I was worried that we wouldn't get in! :)

Deanna,

This is great. I'll start working on songs and music. I already looked up the readings for those days. My daughter serves but she says she would only participate if there would be another female server.

Well then....she is in luck! The other 2 servers that have volunteered are female! :)

***Everyone who is interested in attending Mass onboard***

I have a list of people who have volunteered to participate in the Masses on the Pirate Zone website.

We have 3 servers, 2 readers, 2 Eucharistic Ministers, and 1 Singer/Cantor. If we have one more server volunteer, we can have 2 servers at each Mass. We will need a couple more readers as well. TIA!!!

Also, someone gave me a really good idea about advertising Mass times and locations, in the event it is not listed in the Navigator. She suggested we list them on a sign to put on our doors. I thought that was very clever, so I wanted to share it with all of you.

If you are referring to altar servers..my DD said she would serve both masses..I would be willing to do a reading as well.

I think the price difference is fairly small between a cab and the bus and I though I read on CC that the bus drops you off a bit of a walk from the beach/meeting place. As it is going to be so blazin' hot, we will probably cab it.

I think all of us paid via Paypal within a few days of booking. I wanted to make sure I would have confirmation of our spaces.

Wait. They will tell you when you are going to do mass? Sounds like she thinks they hired you. Does that mean they are paying for your cruise too?

Actually, that is the practice on any cruise line when a priest volunteers to celebrate Mass for any interested passengers.

We are, in many ways, trapped by scheduling on board -- especially since they usually schedule Mass on ships in their big venue places: theatres, lounges, et cetera.

They schedule Mass during down times.

They are generally very good about it as well. They try to make sure that the respect shore schedules and things when Mass takes place on a port day and they schedule Mass before many people are off and running.

So try not to be too alarmed at the wording of her message. That is standard operating procedure.

I'm just thankful that they are going to accommodate our request.

And, since I am a morning person (usually up at 4:30 a.m.), I'm just fine when they schedule Mass.

You folks, on the other hand, may not appreciate a real early time. :)

But I won't send you back if you arrive in your pj's. As long as you have something on! Because, after all, if I have to wear vestments, you have to wear clothes. And, believe me, you wouldn't want to see chunky ol' me in a clothing-optional Mass setting!!! :rotfl:
