Are you using your own laptop or stations on the ship?

Taking my own so that I can finally check out the new WiFi on the ship. I've always used theirs in the past.
I guess I could post my e-mail address on the pirate: website...if it isn't already there. Maybe that would be the easiest. Or is there a spot for a "blog" type of thing on the pirate: site?

I thought I would drop by and introduce myself. We are on this cruise and for some strange reason not as excited as we were last year with the Med Repo. I thought a little dose of the DIS might be just what the doctor ordered.

We are traveling with no children this time (ours are all adults, but we are not even bringing a grandchild). There are 6 of us. Me and DH, his brother who is married to my sister and the in-laws. Not a very exciting group, maybe that is my problem:rotfl2:

I have not even explored shore excursions. I have 2 days before I can book, so I guess I have time;)

We are flying in the day before and staying right by the ship. I wish we could do DL, but not with this gang. There is not enough prozac in the world to help me cope with taking my father in law to DL.:scared1: He is an old retired Marine who has no patience for lines, heck he has no patience for waiting.

I have thrown in the towel on trying to read up on all the happenings as you are all a busy bunch. I will check the link provided to me and read the readers digest version.

So, in the mean time if some of you could send some pixie dust this way to help increase my excitement I would be grateful.:worship:

:welcome: :welcome: :welcome:

No kids OR husbands for me and my group on this cruise! Just 5 Moms getting away by ourselves.

It IS hard to keep up here...... but glad you're jumping in. I totally agree that DISing helps build the excitement!

As I've mentioned before, my DS10 is reading a kids book on the Panama Canal....
can i ask what book they are reading? i've been meaning to start looking for good books for my dk's to read, but i haven't gotten very far with it!

hi and welcome!!

OK Jolly pirates... Are we all taking taxis to the pier?

I'm thinking it would be great to go over as a group on the public bus. (ie Way cheaper and means more money for other stuff on the TOAL)

From the Doubletree???

We will be there and so will RRBB, OhanaFamily and children. do you know the cost of a taxi???

You can set your browser to not load graphics (so you see only the text), but if that is too complex, the suggestion to have a "Stace" thread on thepiratezone boards is probably the best

Hi, and welcome!

I am laughing when I read your description of the group you are sailing with, and particularly your father-in-law :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: and you wonder why you are not more excited about the cruise???:goodvibes

However, I do understand some of what you mean . . . I was on a Med cruise last summer as well as the Med repo returning to Florida, and those trips required a lot of planning, which was exciting and different. This cruise is going to be much more relaxing than those were, and that is a different kind of wonderful.

Remember that it is a big ship and you are bound to be able to get away from those in your party that make you crazy;) and keep in mind the natural beauty of the ports we are visiting. Also, think of how amazing it is to be able to go through the Panama Canal, one of the modern world's great wonders!

Plenty of pixie dust to you as you plan this cruise, and I believe that if you give it a chance, you will end up having a spectacular two weeks.

Hope that they don't have the theater booked for a private affair at 9 am on the 24th and 8 am on the 31st .... Deanna?

I know, I know.....

We are getting all of our ducks in a row, now. I introduced Dana (right hand) to Dorothy (left hand)....so we should be all good. The Mass times *may* change, but Dorothy said we will leave them as is for right now.

I never even made it through Windows for Dummies. Please don't confuse me with browser-changing talk. (where's the dunce-cap smilie??)

I did, however, see someone's advice about writing things up in Word (or whatever) and then copying & pasting.....

No flaming...but, I am not comfortable being that far away from her. Just my thing...my DH would totally agree with you though. :)

I know we have lots of people watching etc, but I may have to bribe someone at the 1:00 zipline to switch with half of my family or something. I pay well...I am sure we will get it figured out!

I am glad we will be zipping with you, I am VERY VERY excited to do this and I was worried that we wouldn't get in! :)

I actually agree with you about leaving a little one on the boat. That is why we made it a rule this year that we wouldn't do any excursions if the whole family couldn't do them. On past cruises, we've skipped several things because our youngest couldn't go. I did go to Tulum with my Dad, but my Mom and DW stayed with my youngest. We did leave him on the boat for about an hour while we shopped in Key West and Cozumel, but that was about it and we were never more than a few blocks away.

Like I said, I'm sure my DS would rather babysit than go, but we're going to try to push him anyway! My two youngest are very excited about it and we also look forward to zipping with you.

I think all of us paid via Paypal within a few days of booking. I wanted to make sure I would have confirmation of our spaces.

We booked months ago & paid about 2 weeks ago.

Thanks...we'll probably go ahead and pay as well just to secure our reservation...do they send you a confirmation of payment and time back? This excursion really sounds fun!

I researched zip line tours close to home. There are about a couple within a two hour or so drive of our house. The one at Vail costs about $125 and you only get 5 zips. Another one is six zips for $80 but the longest is only 400 feet. There is one that is train accessible only and I think you get 27 zips, but the cost is $330 pp. We're getting a bargain -- 14 zips and $300 for five of us!

So we avoid this by signing up as soon as we get on board? :confused3
I am not sure how this works. Or, are we going to try to arrange a sampling of all the tastings as a group? I know I signed up for the lush package. All I need to do?

Coral

Yes you're covered. We are trying to arrange private tastings that will be for our group only. They will not be advertised in the Navigator. People who just try to wander into Diversions (or wherever they put us) will be told it's closed for a private event.

We will have the dates and times prior to boarding the ship. If we are not successful in getting one or more, we will let you know before we go. In that case, we will have to get to Guest Services and sign up right away for anything we want.

Is it just me, or are others upset about the price of postage going up yet again?
mail.jpg

No, it isn't just you. This is why I don't mail anything unless I absolutely have to.

Kim

Going back to your question about taxi's from the Doubletree....although I know the group was talking about Aruba....the Doubltree has a shuttle to take us to the port.
I know they do cruise people all the time, but I wonder if they are prepared for DISNEY CRUISERS???? :lmao:

I was thinking that the bus would be great. Then again, how many pirates will fit on their city bus??

I still haven't reserved this one yet. This is what I want to do in Aruba, but although I've PIF, I'm still hesitant on booking non-refundable excursions.

can i ask what book they are reading? i've been meaning to start looking for good books for my dk's to read, but i haven't gotten very far with it!

Sure, here's the link to it on Amazon. It's a Wonders of the World book for kids grades 3 to 6. My DS10 loves history, so he's really enjoyed the book. My DS12 hasn't started it yet as he always has an excuse to avoid "learning".

You know the ol' phrase "Day late and dollar short?"

Well, that doesn't apply to you. Actually, you're two days late and a dollar short!

Sorry . . . you already missed the cut off. The prices went up Monday. :scared1:

Story of my life these days :headache:

As I've mentioned before, my DS10 is reading a kids book on the Panama Canal. A couple of nights ago he asks me if the mosquitos are still there? He was getting nervous about going through it after reading about how many people died during the making of the PC.

I had to assure him that it was now safe to go through. I told him about all of the kids who lived in the PC while the Americans were building it and how they survived with no problem. I told him once they figured out which mosquitos were the carriers of yellow fever/malaria that they spray really good for them and that the cruise ships are perfectly safe.

I thought the part where they planted flowers and plants that attracted mosqitos was interesting. You are in the hospital for yellow fever or malaria and purposely planted outside your window is a great bg mosquito magnet- and open windows. :scared1: OOPS!
